I am soooooo sorry you miscarried. I have done this multiple times (about 4 known times) and it devastates me each time....I feel like such a useless woman when those things happen to me....but every other instance of my life seems to be so good and on track....I know it's hard and it's difficult, but that is one of the reasons I started this thread. We have to be able to VENT OUR FRUSTRATIONS.....because it IS frustrating....No one that has been diagnosed with this ever asked for it voluntarily and I truly believe that we can beat it, but it is such a LONG journey for us that we almost need to stay together and support eachother in this battle. Good luck and you WILL get through this!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks, I'm getting through it ok this time around. I just had my D&C yesterday. I'm in far less pain, but it's still coming and going. I'm really coming out of this whole thing with an insanely strong urge to lose weight and get this b*tch under control! (eff you pcos). I'm planning on starting c25k on Monday. I'm sure I'll be healed enough to start by then0 -

Dear "cysters" :-)
Wow...reading some of these letters have made me cry. I have yet to be diagnosed with PCOS but have almost all of the symptoms. To all the women who have conceived naturally and who have given birth to their children, you are amazing fighters! To all of you brave and STRONG women, keep up the fight! You WILL win!!!

Oh excellent. A PCOS thread. It's nice to know I'm not the only one out there fighting this monster.
*sarcasm*
Dear PCOS
Thank you for the painful cyst growths and ruptures every cycle (if you can call it a cycle miss randomness). Thank you for the hair and the weight gain and the difficulty of weight loss. Thanks for the random drastic mood swings. Thanks for the size D in freaking 7th grade. Thanks for days of eating practically nothing in my youth and STILL gaining weight. And yes, I think I have you to blame for the mean-spirited whispers in high school locker rooms that had me changing in the bathroom stall rather than by my locker. Mostly thank you for the emotional pain of infertility.
But...
If there's anything I truly have to thank you for it's my increased appreciation for the phrase "Judge Not". Because you really have no idea what issues a person is dealing with.0 -
I love discussing this monster with fellow cysters! I love this thread!
Dear PCOS,
I wish I would've known when I was younger that you were the reason that I could never lose weight. You made my teen years a living hell. You were the reason that I always had more hair on my face than most women and you are the reason that I have worried many people by doubling over in pain in random situations. Screw you. You are the reason that I worked my butt off 5 days a week for a year before my wedding and barely lost a pound and I felt terrible about myself when I saw my wedding pictures. I hate you more than I can say, but I will overcome you. Each day I am fighting back. Each day I am getting stronger. We are all coming together to fight you so that you will not control us anymore.

Dear PCOS,
GET LOST!! Since I was young you have made me fat and made it close to impossible to lose any weight no matter how hard I work. You make it impossible for me to feel comfortabl ein my own skin. You caused facial hair which couldnt make me feel less attractive, stretch marks which I will never get rid of, mood swings which alienate most and constant self esteem issues. I work hard everyday and you take the satisfaction away form me. You are the reason I staye din bed this morning. F you buddy....F YOU!!!!0 -
PCOS,
You make me bitter and spiteful at times. I work our intensely hard during my workouts only to either maintain or lose tiny bits at a time. PCOS give me some slack! My Doctors don't even understand you, so how can I?:frown:
i know the Feeling ABSOLUTELY zumba is the only excercise that seems to actually help me shed weight....i have no logic in that i just know that when my wii was broken for 2 months i only lost 4 lbs working out 5-6 a day doing biggest loser cardio max and staying within my calorie goals lol stupid pcos i hate not being in controll0 -
I'm SO SO SO SO GLAD this thread is here! I just went to the doctor yesterday and she told me it looks like I probably have PCOS and pre-diabetes. I feel absolutely devestated, frightened, and angry (I went to a different doc 2 yrs ago for the same symptoms and she blew it off). They sent me for the pelvic ultrasound yesterday afternoon and I'm scheduled for the bloodwork in 2 weeks to be sure, but given all the factors involved, my doc is pretty sure it's PCOS PLEASE HELP WITH ANY ADVICE!0

I am on phentermine. So far so good. I am not on any other medications though. It makes you incredibly thirsty, and use the restroom all day long! Doesn't help much with sleeping either. The good side of it is that I have more energy to work out and when I do work out I sweat a river! It's not helping with my hunger. In fact, late at night I feel like I'm starving at times. But then again my diet is the hardest thing for me to manage. Apparently I am not eating enough calories but I don't know what to eat that would add "good calories".
Good luck with Zumba. It is alot of fun.0 -
Elain - Dollar STore Test...
This truly is the only way to go... if I get a positive or even a questionable positive than I will buy a $7.00 test, until them the $1.00 test will just have to do...0 -
LOVE this thread!
PCOS sucks a**!
Thank you for the added arm & facial hair in high school...and into my adult years. My hubby is such a sweetie, he's NEVER mentioned it in the 5+ years we've been together but I know he has to see it no matter how often I shut the bathroom door and shave. BTW...women shouldn't have to shave anything other than their legs and armpits in my book!!
Thanks for the overwhelming feeling of needing to wear makeup to cover up my acne EVERY time I leave the house...even if I'm just going to exercise. Which brings me to my next issue...how come I lose half the weight of all my MFP friends in the same amount of time?! I'm doing my best and I am losing...slow and steady...but it's frustrating!!
Might I also say a quick thanks for all the negative pregnancy tests I've bought...I don't even think twice when throwing the minus signs away anymore...it's pretty much a monthly deal for me. BUT...just so you know...I've beat you once...I have an adorable almost 3 year old son (after a really painful miscarriage 18 months prior to that pregnancy) and I'll do it again! I'm losing weight and have total faith that God will grant me another child...in His time.
Good luck to all my cysters...feel free to add me as a friend...could always use the extra support!0 -

PCOS...thanks for making me so friggin' miserable in my own skin. The periods every two weeks are just awesome:grumble: The extra hair everywhere is just great The pain pills I have to take to function while having periods are just awesome:noway: The moodswings that make me wanna cry or kill someone -take your pic - are terriffic:explode: The agony I had to go through to have my kids - the infertility and all of the surgeries - wasting years of my life to fix your bull *kitten* - lovely:sad: The babies I lost because of you And to all the people out there who don't understand how hard this journey is because of this crap - have a bit of patience when I'm having a gallon and hour, gut wrenching, headache inducing, miserable mood period. This stuff sucks royally!:frown:
P.S. Forgot to mention the lovely acne I have at almost 40 years old...WTF!?!?!? I'm gonna die an old lady with a huge zit on my nose probably...*sigh*0 -

It is sooo difficult! I can see that PCOS has made your life incredibly difficult. Im so sorry for that, but looking at your current weightloss of 44 lbs! I think you've got it under control! You're doing fantastic! Keep up the good work and you are an inspiration to all of us:happy:0 -
Funny many everyone's posts!
For me my PCOS doesn't bother me anymore since I'm managing it with a lifestyle change. Studies have shown that women with pcso have insulin resistence so should focus not on meds but changing in their habits. I follow Primal Blueprint which is a complete lifestyle not diet. My symtpons of PCOs have virtually disappeared and other are work in progress - no more acne, cysts smaller and few, TOM came naturally first time in 10yrs, no more mood swings, my hair is fuller thicker (before it was so thin I almost was bald in some areas) my skin is more balanced not oily etc.
Throu reading I have found out women with PCOS need to excercise, eat low GI or low carb and keep their weight loss.

Are you eating dairy? Dairy causing most acne and skin breakout. Try omitting it for a week and see if there are changes.0 -
I LOVE this thread! I just like knowing that there are others out there like me. It is really frustrating to know that I have to work 5 times as hard and eat healthier than a normal person to lose half of the weight that they do. I have been at this for a whopping 35 days and lost a whole 5 pounds! Most of that I believe is water weight as well! I am also so tired of the acne...I am 30 years old and I have the skin of a teenager!
Good luck to everyone, and feel free to friend me if you would like!0 -
I haven't even read all the posts and I find myself saying "OMG ME TOO!!" to EVERYTHING! I haven't gotten my period in 6 months. SIX MONTHS! I don't even know what to do anymore! I tried birth control and I'm on Metformin, I've lost 20 lbs...what else do I have to do? It scares me because I'm 26, and haven't had any children yet, is this the infertility kicking in? I hate not knowing what is going on with my body!!
(All the other side effects suck, too!)
Good to know I'm not alone!0 -
Good to know I'm not alone!
PCOS affects 60% of women so ye you are not alone:flowerforyou: :ohwell:
How many of you consume soy regularly? In fact there are several health problems associated with the over consumption of soy including PCOS.0 -
so I haven't been diagnosed yet but am 99% sure I have PCOS. I have almost all of the symptoms. What I want to know...and this is a personal question so you definitely don't have to answer this or if you do but don't want everyone else knowing you can message me, because of the PCOS do you feel less.....hmmm....sexual? I used to have a large sexual appetite a few years back. I'd feel in the mood numerous times a day. And honestly now, I am perfectly content with only like once a month. Which sucks for the boyfriend. Is this something other women with PCOS experience? Does it fix itself? Does birth control help? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks!0

I'm not diagnosed yet either. In fact, I'm going for my blood test tomorrow morning, but like you, all the signs point to PCOS. Your question made me think because I used to have a pretty healthy sexual appetite myself but even as far as 3 or 4 years ago found that I really didn't give a flip most of the time anymore. At that time, I thought it was stress, lack of energy (I was working 2 jobs), I even thought it was my fiance at the time (turns out, that part was true). I haven't read anything saying that is one of the side effects or symptoms, but it certainly makes our hormones go wacky, so it'd make sense. Does anyone else have any insight on this?0 -

I quit drinking anything except water and a glass of unsweetened almond milk about once a week. I also use almond milk for my cereal in the morning. I have a soda about once a month now. I'm also cracking down on sugar. I still eat some cheese and other dairy products but my main dairy consumption was milk. My acne has improved greatly since making these changes.0 -
My husband and I's best friends just had their 1st child and I couldn't be happier for them! Thanks to PCOS I am also extremely jealous and depressed too! Its also great how everyone brings up the fact that we are the only ones who don't have kids now, so were just the weird couple with the dogs. Thank you so much PCOS!0

Dear PCOS,
Thank you for the strange darker skin on the back of my neck. I scrub until my skin is raw, and there it still is. Thanks for having come hand in hand with Endometriosis, and having to remove one ovary, just because it was a hot mess. Thank you for letting me gain a majority of my weight in my gut. You are an awesome companion, and I would junk punch you if I could.
Thank you--drive thru! *^&^%&**(((
Sincerely,
Bethanie K0 -

Haha This is exactly the same as us! We are the wierd, fun loving , childless couple with cats instead for now Good luck girl!0 -
OMG thankyou! It is so nice to be reading this post feeling for once that I am not alone. All of my friends have kids, not that I have tried yet, but I keep looking at them thinking that it will just never be us!
At the moment, I'm in bed, the day before my toms start (i know this because I am on birth control otherwise I am irregular), feeling horrible, lethargic, sick in the stomach, im in pain (cuddling my electric blanket and a heatpack), my face has broken out, my stomachs swollen and I feel like I've just been hit by a bus, although sometimes i think actually being hit by a bus would be less painful! I've been in tears for the last 2 days over well I am not sure, not much. I am a hungry starving beast who would eat you if you came close enough. My backs sore from the inflammation. I just feel like BLOODY *kitten*.
Now that I've had that rant...
Started getting my period at age 9. Diagnosed with PCOS at 11 after being taken to the doctor and vomiting in his bin and about to pass out from heavy bleeding. Send to Melbourne (AUS) to see a specialist who said I had 3x the male testosterone and all other hormones are completely out of balance. By then I was nearly 30kg overweight at the age of 11. Went all through high school taking a week a month off because I couldnt get out of bed. Went to University and lost ALOT of weight, basically ate nothing because I was too poor and danced alot from going out with friends. Then had a bad breakup etc. and ended up at 123kg, 4 months ago, putting on 30kg in 2 years. At the moment I go to curves monday, wednesday, friday, saturday and I swim everyday but wednesdays, I eat only 1200 calories per day, and I AM SO FRUSTRATED THAT I CANT LOOSE MORE THAN 1KG. Anyone else would be loosing a heap more than that with all of the exercise and healthy eating I am doing. Its driving me up the wall.
The one thing I have found however is that low GI eating is really helping with the shooting insulin levels, I am more evened out now, except for when it is the TOM I am rarely that ravenous hungry I get and I dont get the horrible food cravings that I used to. I have lost 45lbs so far and I feel like my symptoms are lessening, I am not feeling so bad in between tom's just during them which is a better sign. Hopefully I can keep it up it's just so hard to keep motivated when I do so much and see such little results.0
