What nobody tells you about losing weight

I used to love a good scratch, you know that moment when you take your bra off at the end of the day the relief, that's when I'd have a back scratching session, I just can'r do it now, it just doesn't feel the same anymore, I don't like the feel of my bones.7

So true!
Nobody tells you...
That once you start eating healthier, family members will make comments about everything you eat when they couldn't have cared less before.
How you will silently judge overweight people in public more harshly.17 -
leave the scale alone and take pictures and watch the magic6

+1 Damn right. My downfall is good beer... I love good beer. That might explain why I like running... so I can have a guilt free beer.Poutine is the pornography of cheat meals. Looks amazing and you desire it greatly, but 1) isn't as high quality as it looks, and 2) you end up setting back amazing milestones that you could have nailed sooner.
Pornography of cheat meals.
That's a classic. I will be quoting you from now on! Even in Quebec poutine is not always great. If I'm going to blow that many calories and spend the money it has to be GREAT.
So I tend not to order such things. Instead of poutine or something similar I'd rather order something with high flavour, not so many calories. Or a Greek kabob, or if its bar food at least chicken (wings or something) has flavour and protein in the mix.

How great it feels to wipe your bottom after using the potty as well as really getting your v clean and being able to see it!!!!16

I'm so jealous of people who say their skin has cleared, I'm not at goal but I've been having the worst chin breakouts since I started losing.
Mine didn't get better just with the weight loss, but for some reason, I cut back on dairy...accidentally, I just got sick of yogurt and that was the main sours of dairy. My skin cleared up. Now that I track what I eat, I can see that I break out more when there has been more dairy in my diet

Nobody tells you that you'll actually start to look your age...with (gasp!) wrinkles... but that it's ok because you also get the benefit of bone structure finally showing through7

Yep, but I'll take a few wrinkles over a double chin any day9 -
I'm cold all the time, and every 10lbs I lose I get colder.
I'm not complaining, I just wear layers3 -

It's really interesting that you've said that, I keep wondering about the whole dairy and acne thing. I know there hasn't been any proof yet, but lots of anecdotes saying going dairy free helps. The problems is I love milk, yoghurt and cheese!
I might try cutting back on dairy and having the lactose free milk before I go full on non dairy. Would be great if it did help, I am so fed up with my skin! It was always perfect until I got to about 256 -

I won't give it up completely, I love cheese and yoghurt is a go to when I am hungry and don't have a lot of calories left for the day. I was eating a lot more, I had yoghurt in smoothies and plain...so lots of it.

I went shopping yesterday. Tried on some dresses. I am NOT a dress girl. Not dresses, not skirts. Not me. Found out that suddenly I didn't hate what the mirror showed me. I didn't hate me anymore. Today I went shopping again. Turns out...once I got past all the layers of "self-protection" and just chose the things I like...I'm a girl!! Like, the kind of girl who WANTS to wear a pretty, feminine, swirly, flowy type of dress. Omg, nobody told me that I might find myself. And that I would love me.58

Nobody told me it would take about two months to be able to consistently eat at or below my calory goal.

That laying down for long periods of time KILLS your bones in the your back and shoulders.
Smaller clothes are so much more cute than plus size ones!
Putting on a bikini for the first time in your life is amazing.
That you get massive hot flashes constantly when you are trying to sleep.6 -

I thought about this more last night and definitely don't think I could give it up completely. But I can definitively cut down, currently I have milk in my porridge, milk in many cups of tea throughout the day, snacks of mini babybel or cheese strings, Philadelphia on crackers at lunch! That's quite a lot of dairy, so I might drop the yoghurt and Philly first and see how that goes. And maybe try almond milk in my porridge?4 -
Buying new clothes!!!
It may sound materialistic...but it feels so good to get into a smaller size!5 -
Nobody told me how jiggly I would get. At my heaviest, my skin & fat were tight. Now that I have lost a bit and have stronger muscles underneath, I can pinch/pull the actual fatty tissue out. It weirds me out, but shows visually how many calories I have yet to burn. I am sure this phenomenon is known, but I was/am surprised by it. It is weird to actually be able to almost see the fat as something floating around inside my body on top of the muscles.12
