Aw bummer! I just spent my last stashed $200 on registering for a HM. I need another pair of the cadence trail shoes.
Ouch $200 is that one of those "rock and roll" races. I signed Skip and I both up for a HM for less than half of that.
Ya. $55 for the HM and $30 for the 5k for my husband and I. Plus the 27$ transaction fee. Was just under 200.0 -

@elise4270 Aside from Disney ($180 for the last one I looked at), some higher demand R&R races (vegas @ $130 - but I've done the 3-packs for $200 saving a bit), it is definitely rare to find a HM for over $100. $200 for two registrations (including both HM and 5k) definitely makes sense though.
Put in 6 easy miles with a friend today. Not sure what I'll do tomorrow, but I'm planning to do a long run Sunday with friends. Definitely looking to front-load my running this month, as I'm returning to the muggy Florida heat on Monday. Doing a hard-reset on my forerunner at the moment as it stopped being able to upload runs this evening. If that doesn't work, I'll use it as an excuse to grab the new 225 as the extra features seem pretty killer (reliable built-in HR, wireless bluetooth syncing via cell phone, cadence tracking, and can manage heart rate based workouts for intervals/speedwork/etc..).

I had my run broken up when my daughter told me she wanted to come along. 4.7 miles with her (only 3.4 for her, as she stopped after two laps around the pond), took her home, drank some water, then another 1.3 miles around the neighborhood with my dog. I had intended to run 7 but the heat just took too much out of me.
Not much running tomorrow, I'll be sailing if the weather cooperates!

Here's another hot shoe deal, IF you're a Nordstrom cardholder.
When I was trying on shoes for the first time, it was a very close decision between the Glycerin 12 and the Asics Gel Nimbus 17. I just ordered a new pair of Glycerin and wanted to see if the Nimbus 17 had come down from the normal $150 yet.
Long story short, I discovered that Nordstrom is having their Anniversary sale soon and if you're a cardholder, you can get a "sneak peak". This is where I found the Gel Nimbus 17, normally $150, for just $99.90! I'm not a cardholder but my wife is so I had her order a pair for me.
They have other brands and models available, but most of the prices are hidden until you login and I wasn't going to have my wife bother with checking other models. If you're a Nordstrom cardholder, it's worth checking out.0 -

Morning run, went out 30min late so the sun was bearing down on me and I hadn't drank enough water beforehand. So felt really terrible, heavy legged. I now have 2 days of grumbling/negativity to myself.0 -
I've done 57 miles so far - was aiming for 200 but that seems unlikely now. Going long today though so that should help! I need to get myself one of those ticker things!!0

@WhatMeRunning I laid the boards down as a trap, they get very slippery when wet. I go out and check them after it rains. And now you know how I found my last five boyfriends.
@mwyvr What is strength training? I jump that *kitten*. And by jump I mean climb. While swatting at mosquitoes.
@shanaber I'm always curious to know what other runners wear when not running. I've been wearing mostly Sanuks and flip flops.0 -
Terrific running so far and nice goal for the month @autumnblade75 ! What are you training for and when?
Hope you are feeling great for the 5k today and the other miles you would like to get in @Stoshew71. Many blessings to your wife and to you too @skippygirlsmom .
Praying for your knee to recover quickly @shanaber That's terrific running and climbing you do @melaniefave41 I'm always amazed at you and others here who trail run. It's a totally different beast than road running. KIU!!! One day soon, I will run on our country dirt/gravel roads (and post a photo) and then ya'all can tell me if that constitutes as trail running
7 miles today.

7/1: 6.5 miles
7/2: 6.5 miles with the Thursday running crew
7/3: Rest
7/4: 3.1 miles (New 5k PR of 23:42!)
7/5: 12 miles
7/6: 4 miles easy recovery pace
7/7: 5 miles of easy "I'm drowning in humidity" pace
7/8: 4 miles
7/9: 5 miles -- quick, fun ones with the Thursday running group!
7/10: Rest
7/11: 3.1 miles
My right calf is basically fine now, and my left calf/heel felt better today than it has all week and maybe all month, so I am a little less anxious about my 14 miler tomorrow. I was really worried about these legs, but after cruising through my run this morning, I think they'll hold up just fine.
This week and last week were both 33 miles, and next week I've got 42 scheduled (was supposed to do 38 this week), so hopefully I can get all my runs in before that MPW keeps climbing!

Getting there! A bit of a shin twinge but nothing a few calf stretches sat by the river didn't solve

July 1 - rest
July 2 - 3.75 run/walk combo
July 3 - 5 miles
July 4 - 5.76 miles
July 5 - walked 5 miles in morning to scout out a place to do long run. Then walked another 6 all around the city.
July 6 - rest
July 7 - 8.6 - fun run to Roosevelt Island and then around the island. Weather is great for me!
July 8 - 4.1 miles
July 9 - 3.51 miles - last run with daughter until HM in October.
July 10 - 5.2 miles in the hills of Virginia.
July 11 - 3.5 miles - found a different route leaving my mom's house that is not as hilly.
Doing my next long run on Tuesday so I suppose I should take a rest day before then. But I don't want to.
@melaniefave41 - beautiful pics of the trail. I envy those trail runs.0 -

@JimCrackinDandy: Thanks. I'm a little behind on the training - I just can't seem to pull off a 14 mile run lately. I'm not really too concerned, though - the event isn't even billed as a race, it's "just" a half-marathon trail run. Muddy Monk's Nearly Sane will be held on August 23rd. I'm a little more invested in finishing the mileage for this month, and I think I'm a little behind for that, too. I might still make it - it's early.0 -
@JimCrackinDandy I have gradually quit running on the road all together over the past couple months. On accident. I'll do shorter distances on the road, but more than four miles and I just get incredibly bored. Even with music, lol. Becomes a huge mental struggle for me. I have great respect for road runners.0

@ddmom0811 Thanks! I can't wait for autumn when most of the bugs die off so I can take pictures without being swarmed on! Even stopping to tie your shoe is asking for trouble.0

Beautiful! Where is it? Rocky mountains?
@Aine8046 The area is called Golden Ears and is part of the Garibaldi Range in southwestern British Columbia, very near the west coast / city of Vancouver. Map | Images. Behind me is Gold Creek which should be numbing my nether regions but was surprisingly warm so doggy and I both got to swim. Down the trail a bit there were two others taking in the sun and that's it, completely empty of people. The more popular west canyon trail is the route up to the various peaks.
This is one really nice place you live in!0 -
7/1 - 3.3 miles - usually my rest day, but keeping my streak alive (3 more days!)
7/2 - 4.6 miles while eating lots of breakfast gnats yuck!
7/3 - 2.3 miles - short run today - took a new running partner who hasn't run in a while. She did great! It was cooler and raining.
7/4 - 6.2 miles - last day of my Memorial Day to 4th of July 41 Days of Awesome running challenge.
7/5 - rest day and travel to El Paso ugh what a trip
7/6 - 2.5 horrible dreadmill miles
7/7 - 4.2 miles and 2.25 - went and ran where my boss told me. It was beautiful. It was like 90 and no shade during the run and my breathing is taking a beating, but it was worth to 30 min drive to get there.
7/8 - 5.5 miles
7/9 - 3.7 miles
7/10 rest day
7/11 - 3.1 miles Strong Girls 5K run today. I don't have the office times, but I have me at 29:06 and Skip was 23 something, she forgot to stop her watch LOL. Not PRs for either of us but we both finished in FIRST place in our age groups. I'm so excited, I never finished first before and yeah for Skip who moved up to the 15 - 19 AG. Cool bling for the win, these are ceramic tiles, plus a gift card for the running store...of course we were just there yesterday and did some damage getting inserts and spikes for Skip. My Mom was at the race today, she lives in Tampa and it was the first time she saw Skip run, she's a proud Grandma!
