I'm just tired and crabby. I'll be better by tomorrow.
I'd be torqued, too. Staying home because of a "headache" is a hot issue for me.
But, it's tomorrow now, so I guess you're better.
You have clearly never had a migraine.
No, I understand that I'm very fortunate that way. I totally get that people have debilitating migraines, and I totally didn't mean to come off as judgmental about anything like that.
My comment is related to my son's senior year of high school. Every time I was traveling for work, he would miss school for a "headache". I took him to doctors after doctors, including a couple of neurologists. He wound up dropping out of school and going back to get his GED. Guess what? No more headaches as soon as he quit school.
Sorry, I get that some people use as an excuse, but as a migraine sufferer, I can say I have missed a few days of work due to headaches, because there is no way I could survive looking at a computer screen when I have one.
I fully understand your pain, my momma gave me that lovely migraine gene. Thankfully I don't get them all that often but when I do man oh man I am down and out, throwing up from the pain.
Mine too! Started about a year ago (early 30s onset is common). I've only had two full-blown ones, because I started making adjustments as soon as the first one happened, and figuring out what was mostly likely triggering them. I've had inklings since then, but have managed to keep them at bay by chugging water, and taking enough aspirin for two of me.
I'm actually considering a trip to the doctor to try and get a legitimate diagnosis and get a script for some serious "just in case" meds. I cannot deal with the blurred vision - how would I get home if it started anywhere else?
The Excedrine Migraine works surprisingly well for over the counter meds. I can usually keep mine from going full blown with that, if I can catch them early enough (I see auras just before) But if they hit while I am asleep, I am down for the day most of the time. Even with prescription drugs.0 -
Had my first unsolicited bump/size comment today from a co-worker I hardly know! It went along the lines of:
- When are you due?
- Early January.
- You're big for that early on. My wife didn't show until she was 6 months gone.
- Brave of you to comment on a woman's size.
- ...awkward silence...
-
I don't mind a comment when I post a bump photo in the batcave, I'm rather inviting them. But coming unsolicted from acquaintances I hardly know, um no thanks. If you wouldn't say it to a non-pregnant woman, why would you think it's okay now. I'm not upset as I know he wasn't trying to be rude. I just think it's a crappy double standard.
What an awesome reply! I wouldn't have been able to think up anything that quickly lol. And you're right, it is a crappy double standard.0 -

Have you tries the Migraine tailored OTC pain meds? Tylenol Ultra contains 50mg of caffeine per tab, which many people find is effective at reducing migraine.0 -

I have, and they kind of work, but I've found that moderate caffeine intake, combined with coupious amounts of water and a minimum of 7 hours sleep (preferably 8 or 9) has done a far better job of keeping them at bay. Totally personal, so I can't run around shouting that I've found the cure, but it's working for me without the "downtime" of having to recover.0 -
Ahhh I've had friends and relatives who've had to deal with migraines and I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy!!0

@Italian_Buju I've been thinking about getting into it. Is it really that good? I thought it would be great but I've never gotten around to watching any of it.
It is SO good. Seriously, really interesting and good. Of course some of it is made up drama for the sake of the show, but all their research stuff is real, and SO interesting!0 -

I have no idea what this is (and I'm not googling it at work!) but thank you for a funny, silly confession.

It follows the research of Masters and Johnson! So interesting!! This is season three now, and it never fails to disappoint!0 -

Does he have social anxiety? My daughter used to suffer headaches and I made several appts for her too, and then noticed over the summer, she did not get them, when they started again the next fall, we clued in that it was due to having to go out in public (she would stay inside 90% of the summer).
On a related note, I used to suffer from terrible migraines, that usually had me in bed an average of three days. And I mean, out, no work, and I would have to make sure someone could be with my son. This would happen 3-6 times a year and all I could do was sit in the dark, drugged up, with a cold pack on my head for 72ish hours. My mother died about 12 years ago now, it has not happened once since. Not once.

It was scary but everything came back normal and she hasn’t had any problems since.saraherren wrote: »So after my sweet dog passed away on August 1, my mom and I (mainly my mom) decided to have her cremated. ^Agreed.
I’ve said before I’m a gamer (been playing since Atari) but I’ve never liked MMOs mostly because I don’t like playing against/with other people unless it is a straight up co-op game with one or two people I know. I'm too competitive and always want to win so it's hard for me to play those kinds of games.I'm so jealous. You are going to have a great time. I think ( from my stalking) you are going to Machu Picchu right? It's beautiful. One of the best things I've ever done. If you are lucky and get there early you get to do the additional climb (can't remember the name of it) We missed it sadly but still really enjoyed the experience. Right - need to go find myself a new adventure now, this is making me crave one.
Oh, and don't forget to try some guinea pig whilst you're over there....
Not judging but I could never eat guinea pig. We had them as pets...raelynnsmama52512 wrote: »So, we're back home now. He's still asleep, but he's feeling better and not in pain thanks to the morphine shot they gave him. Thanks for all the kind words and thoughts and prayers!
So glad to see a good update!

Confession: I don't know what is wrong with me but today has been a bad food day. I already ate all 10 twinkies from the box I bought this morning.
I was at my lowest weight before vacation and now I just can't seem to get back to being good with food...
Tomorrow hopefully.0 -

Getting back on schedule with exercise and eating right was hard for me after vacation too. Probably took me about three weeks to really feel right again. You can do this! Don't give up!0 -

I don't know which would be worse. Another one with social anxiety or just assume he's lazy.
He's not working right now and not going to school. He NEVER leaves the house. He plays video games and posts on YouTube. I would have never thought about social anxiety for him, since he was always so outgoing when he was younger.
But, in the past couple of years, when I mention him talking to a girl we see out and about (or other similar situations), he always downplays like "Oh, she'd never be interested in me..." It's like he has completely lost all of his self confidence. I really think something happened in high school to make him want to stop going, but I can't seem to get him to open up about what's going on with him. He's living in my house, not working, not doing anything (he lost the job he had), and he's going to be 21 in October. He really has to do something to get his life started. I've really always thought he was just lazy, though.0 -

Yesterday I was trying to buy a pass for the metro (subway) and the machine wasn't working, so I told the guy at the booth and he snapped at me and told me that I had messed up and to try it again. I thanked him and he sighed in this irritated way. I don't know why I allow that stuff to bring me down so much. It's such a small, insignificant thing coming from someone I don't know, but it still put me in a zombified, self-loathing state of mind for the next couple of hours.... especially because he was right, I did mess it up.
Similarily, if I buy something and the cashier seems irritated, I end up getting really sad and thinking it's all my fault even though I KNOW it's probably just work (and probably rude customers) making her upset.0 -

Me too, @FroggyBug! I seem to have lost my "eat good food" mojo over vacation. Yesterday started off well - cardio + decent food during the day.... then went to Red Robin and I had chicken strips & fries. Blew all my exercise calories and then some! Darn it. Maybe I'll do better today, but I'm SO hungry today....bordering on hangry, waiting for my coworker to be done using the microwave so I CAN MAKE MY LUNCH. heh..0 -

Try to remind yourself that their negativity says a lot about them and absolutely nothing about you.
I will replay crap like that in my head too if its extreme, but usually just with a lot of cool things I should/coulda/probably-better-I-didn't say rather than self loathing. Usually.

I your gaming confession and you! This is good stuff. I played WoW for years - actually just ended my sub a couple months ago because it was sooooo boring. Anyhow, I enjoy some MMORPG as well... played SWOTR for a bit and Elder Scrolls Online. I'm currently playing Witcher 3 on PS4 and am loving it. I'm not hardcore or anything, though, but I CAN play easily for hours and lose a whole weekend. I have to make myself exercise and do real world things before I play or set an alarm so I don't lose a whole day. Hee hee...0 -

It really IS them, it has nothing to do with you. They are having a bad day or are just miserable people. They might not realize how negative they're being, or they just want to make others miserable with them. Misery really does love company!
Try not to let them get you down. Accept that THEY are having a bad day but that doesn't mean that YOU have to have a bad day.0 -
I just got a phone call regarding the bat and it is negative for rabies! I wasn't consciously thinking about it much over the last few days, but I was very relieved to hear the good news!0
