Ohhh good news (kind of). Do you remember me telling you of the incident involving the rude old lady and her dog without a leash? Well, (dramatic pause).....saw her today on the path, with the unleashed dog walking pleasantly in front of her, while she held onto leashes of two small dogs. She said, "Good morning ladies", as sweet as punch. I didn't say anything, because the dog was as sweet as punch too. Amazing what a chat with the law inforcement can do. Granted she still didn't have her dog leashed, and if my friend would've been walking with us with her dog, I would have said something. I do have the sense to pick and choose my battles. Thank God my brain sometimes has a filter....

Hi friends. Boy my life has been quiet lately; I guess that’s good. I just had a quiet office day but with too many meetings. I got home late and was wolfing down my dinner to get to water aerobics on time and I was giving myself indigestion, so I decided to slow down and get on the cross trainer instead. I love my water aerobics, but just have too much going on right now. Hubby is at his part time job and I have cat boxes to do plus brushing the animals’ teeth, dishes, and just was too late to get all that done before dinner. Well at least I’m getting some exercise…50 minutes today.

Alison: have you been to counseling? At some point Tom is going to have to confront the situation or….or…or…what is the plan for when he won’t? Sorry I’m sticking my nose in your business.

Barbie: I am so blessed to say that when I try to list my husband’s shortcomings, the worst thing I can find is that his hearing loss drives me crazy. It’s from tinnitus and can’t be helped with hearing aids, at least according to the many places he has been for it. Hubby is a gem and my soulmate.

Heather; glad you had such a good time!

Janetr: sorry you can’t find a fitness buddy. Do you have meetup.com there? Or how about posting a note at the Y or a gym?

Katla: my tomatoes are on their way out too

Miriam: I too find it hard to give away books even though they are coming out my ears!

Walker: what a glorious photo! Sorry I don’t post pics so don’t know how to help you resize

Becca: your story reminds me of so many of my cravings!

Sylvia: so glad you are home and on the mend!

Bkrimpet; another beautiful picture. Thanks for sharing!

Joan: good news on your weight loss!

Carol: I hope your stress abates soon! That diarrhea is no fun

Wessecg: thanks for posting the horses again!

Lizmil: sorry your job is so stressful!

    Terri: beautiful card!

Linda: stay safe with all those bears!

Michele: all your activities are down right inspiring!

Terri: I hope you get a reasonable explanation!

Pat best wishes for your sister!

    Pip: great news!

Bwcetc: that is just mean. What a crummy boss!

Well time to get up and get some of those chores done! Hugs to all who need them. Meg from Omaha where it was beautiful again today

Heather: Cargo pants evidently are just right for males "of a certain age." Regarding you comments to Carol, I liked them. As an old hippyish person I am very fond of old hippyish sayings and still use some of them.

Pip: I'm so happy for you and Kirby that he gets some time off for your surgery & recovery. You may appreciate the help. :flowerforyou:

I wish I had words for so many people, but this evening I am tired. We need to replace a door to a storage room on our deck and it will take about 5 weeks to get here. DARN! I'm not gifted in foresight, I guess. :ohwell:

    September Goals :
    1. Log every bite and swallow.
    2. Cardio exercise at least 3 days a week. Work on flexibility and back strength.
    3. Have fun every day.
    4. Drink at least three glasses of water daily, preferably more!
    5. Eliminate alcohol.
    6. Monitor sleep. Try to average 7 or more hours of sleep nightly.

Well, I'm home, and did my walking this morning, but still have quite a bit of belly pain. It feels like a charley horse in my tummy sometimes. Not sure it has anything to do with the diverticulitis. I'm trying to get an appointment with a specialist. I'm really tired of this.

Not much going on with the DGD. My son went to see the school counselor but he got a little miffed at me for being too bossy and said he would handle it. So I'm supposed to back off. I'll give him a week and if nothing happens I will stomp my feet.

    Good night everyone.

    great score!! update!!!
fyi - for any Facebook friends that i have from here, please do not mention what i am about to tell you.

kirby mistakenly (although he doesn't remember asking for it) asked for 2 wks for FMLA off time to watch me and he got approved for it! that means he will be off for 2 weeks and i will be off for 1 week but he will be able to take me to work on the 2nd week and take me to the gym for the 2nd week.

remember, i won't be mentioning this on Facebook because i have co-worker friends that he works with and read my posts so i don't want to get him in trouble.

    yeayyyyyy!!!!!! nite peeps!

Janetr – good question about JanetMc….

Mary – a bunch of pictures are on my business facebook page www.facebook.com/LivinggGourmetDublin

    Penny – great NSV!

Gloria – I have thought the same thing about how almost all of us have a tragedy that has haunted us…

Lisa – 2 long but great posts --- Loved the comments to Carol, we can all take them to heart. And the carnival job was interesting… at 18 you had a wider world than I have at 56.

Sylvia – thinking of you! Stomp your feet!!!!

Terri Richards – that ‘s a card?! Wow it is amazing

Pip – glad the surgery is almost here, wishing you smooth sailing, and so glad Kirby will be with you for the 2 weeks..

So I read more than I kept notes… it has been very hot again for the last 2 days, right at 98-100… and no rain, no watering, just everything is dehydrated…

I included the link to my facebook page for pics of my embroidery, that is the easiest place to send you. The business is called Living Gourmet, which made tons of sense when it was cooking & craft classes and gardening- but when I bought the embroidery business changing the name would mean irs stuff, bank stuff, business licenses… so I just kept it the same.
Thinking of you one and all.

    September Goals:
Walk everyday –try to hit 180 miles (dog is injured- will skip this this month)
    Log everyday –
Twice a week do floor exercises
    Weekly fun things –

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .

    Good Evening Ladies,

Katla, Savannah or New Orleans would possibly have nice weather during the holidays. New Orleans might have more to do as far as sight-seeing but would probably cost more for rooms. You can check any of the travel web sites to get an idea of room rates. What does he like to do? If I know your activity preferences I might recommend some places on this side of the continent. I see suggestions of cruises; I for sure would pick that if you want to be assured of warm weather.

Mindy, no you didn’t mention that you were Employee of the Week two weeks in a row. Congrats!!! You must be doing something right, maybe like giving good customer service? Way to go, gurl.

Terri, smooth sailing on your procedure and the prep too.

Allison, sorry for the less than stellar day. Hope you have many happy ones ahead. ((((Hugs)))) You must have needed the rest to sleep so long. Good for you.

Meg, thanks for the kind words. You are sweet.

Carol, if stress is what is causing some of your problems, just stop stressing. smiley-shocked025.gif Don’t ya love it when someone tells you that? I know you are coping best you can and we are all behind you sending the best thoughts.

IrishTerri, beautiful Wedding Card. Thanks for Sharing.

Linda, so glad you are willing to share the berries with the bears.  I’ve heard that ya don’t want to mess around with a Mama Bear with her cubs. Do be careful. I have to ask: Is that +7 pounds? I know you want to get rid of it whatever measurement it is. Hang in there, you can do it.

Maryann, you are right: Just Go!! That’s what I need to do. You have a great day.

Gloria, you have proved that you can do this very successfully. I’m impressed! If you go to the Y, surely you will find a work out buddy or at least a class or two that you make friends in. I seem stuck at my 60 pound weight loss but not giving up. I hate that my Medicare supplement doesn’t include Silver Sneakers. 

Heather, I am surprised that you haven’t been to your rental yet, but glad you have made plans. Your worries may be way worse than realities, ya know. Cool deal on the train ride.  When my DH wears Cargo Pants, the pockets keep catching on every knob in the kitchen. When he walks by he opens a drawer with “no hands”. Lol

Barbie, if you found a walking buddie at the hour that you walk, I’d want a background check done on them first!!! smiley-shocked027.gif I often think of you at 7:30 at night that you are going to bed while I’ll be up for 3 or 4 more hours.

DrKatie, I hope your sis is doing well and know you are ready to get home. You are a doll for helping. ((Hugs)))

Michele NC, you are so sweet to worry about your guest not eating chocolate. And also to stay up late with him. My DD has said many times that she can’t find a man as good as her Dad. I think it’s good to set the bar high but not so high that they never find one at all. I laughed at the thought of your “exploding freezer” and have often wondered how big it is, arms.gif when reading about all that you freeze.

Katla, I know what you mean about being home. Enjoy your yoga and riding lesson.

Pip, too cool that Kirby will be home with you. He won’t get paid for that time off will he? You are going back to work after just a week?????? *shaking head*

Joyce, I was hoping to hear that DH was doing better and eating anything you put in front of him.  I hate to hear that he isn’t singing. That really doesn’t sound good. Sending healing thoughts for him and big (((((((Hugs)))))))) for you.

Meg, for sure, having a quiet life is a good thing. Sorry you didn’t make it to the water, but you get a gold star for getting in some exercise. Keep up the good work and the quiet life.

Sylvia, I hope the specialist can help resolve your problems. I hope DS can do something for DGD. Is he taking her problem as seriously as you are? I know you will keep an eye on the situation. Hope you feel better soon.

Tomorrow I have line dancing class again. We didn’t have it last week so I’m really looking forward to it. After that DH and I are going to hear one of the Presidential candidates speak. That should be interesting. Now it’s off to bed.

Sending the best thought to all of you and I hope all of you have a healthy and happy day. rose.gif

    Words I live by:
Savor. I have to slow down and savor every bite.
    and
Opportunity. Each day offers new opportunities for good health and happiness if we just look for them and choose them.
    I Love you, smiley-love013.gif

DJ - I too go to bed later, usually around 1:00 or 2:00 am and still get up by 6:00 or 7:00 am. Hopefully one day I'll begin sleeping again for more than 4 1/2 hours at a time.

IrishTerri - the card is spectacular. Please share a little on the process of doing something like that. Thanks for the picture.

Pip - That's terrific that Kirby will be there for two weeks. I'm sure it will be a big plus for the recovery process. I'm not sure what I'd do if Jack weren't here to help me. I'll have to use a CPM machine (continuous passive motion) for 2-3 weeks. They are big and heavy and you have to set up the ice machine and use it while in the CPM. Not sure I could do all of that by myself. The physcial therapist will come 3 mornings a week for four weeks. She's a sweetie and I enjoy her visits. :)

Carol - I too believe that God has something good in store for you in the way of a new position. You can do this.

Beth - so sorry about your son. I'm sure it's concerning and frustrating for you and horribly painful for him. I used to have migraines for years. Then they pretty much went away as quickly as the appeared. Thank God.

Becca - hope the soup is settling. You may have to otherwise sleep on the deck :)

We got the motor home emptied and all cleaned up this morning. Will have to get the laundry done up tomorrow. I had a dentist appointment for clean and check this afternoon. I have a small pinpoint cavity under a crown, go figure. They will have to pop the crown off, fill the cavity and then replace a new crown, ugh. All that of will have to wait until my knee is healed enough to sit in the dentist chair that long. Once you have a joint replaced, you have to take strong antibiotics before even having your teeth cleaned. Wonder if it will have to be a double dose with both knees replaced. Ha!

Jack and I will probably take the motor home and go to southern Arizona for the month of January with two other couples. I'm looking forward to that.

My DBIL is coming home tomorrow from rehab. My sis is very nervous and a little scared (see is an ex nurse) that something may go wrong. Pray all goes well for them.

One of my greatest NSV's ever, when after losing 125# I was able to climb to the top of the mountain at Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. I'm from Denver originally, miss the mountains so much.

Sylvia, I can't remember. have you had a colonoscopy????

Everyone talks about the wedding card from Terri. What page is that on. I must go admire her work also!

Pip, so glad you are enthused about your surgery. You may be in the minority to be enthused about having pain. Of course you have lived and worked through pain for awhile.

Yes, DJ, I am not having luck with finding something good for Charlie to eat. Well, I am finding good stuff, he just won't eat it. Bless his heart, he sure tried to eat his supper tonight. He just sat there and it looked like it actually hurt going down. I asked him if it did since he had thrush. He said no, it was just so hard to swallow something down that he really didn't want to eat but knew he should. I had made my salisbury steaks for him and i used to use more of a regular ground beef but this was a really lean ground chuck and it gave a whole new texture to it. It didn't taste the same to me either. So the poor guy was having such a tough time of it I told him to go throw it away. Maybe he can live on mashed potatoes and gravy for awhile since he did eat that. I know I could try the mashed cauliflower and things you girls do but I will stick to real potatoes for now. I don't want to put any more things into an already bad situation. The doctor did call in a medicine to increase his appetite. He was on it in the hospital, Remuron, and it made him super, super drowsy. That takes a couple of days to get over. So I hope I don't need to get some protector covers for his bed and the couch if he should have an accident while he is so drowsy. I am trying to get him to have the same drive as he had in rehab. He had such an ambitious goal to get out of rehab in 9 days. Well he is out and doing nothing. So his jobs now are to empty the dishwasher and go down and get the mail and the newspaper, separately. That will give him up and down the stairs twice and doing bending and reaching with the dishwasher. He also knows he can't drive unless he is eating good. Doctor said at least 2 weeks. better get the duck tape out! I wish I had a plan to get him singing again. His voice isn't even loud enough to do the usual meow he gives Melody when he wants her on his lap. One good thing about the Remuron is that it is an antidepressant. My life is just upside down right now and I don't know how to get it upright again. They don't cover this is nursing school. One good thing is that there are far less arguements. Maybe he sees how much I am trying to get him better.

oh, had my annual appointment with my neurologist. She saw how tired I was and was supportive. I told her about me not taking my MS medicine since last October and although would prefer I did continue, she didn't get upset. She wants me to look into financial support from the company that makes the medicine. She is also a believer that if you aren't having any problems, don't order an MRI. She does do them every 4 years and may eventually move that to every 5. So I get an MRI next week. yippee!!!! I also got an email this evening with their patient portal for my online records. So I am signed up for that. So I have my family doctor, neurologist and cardiologist all online now. So does Charlie. It's so easy to right them questions, refill medicines, and review your lab and xrays on line.

    From Irish Terri
So much reading, so little time.

Since some of you mentioned the card:
It is made from 3 sheets of A4 parchment paper, embossed and perforated by hand. The three sheets are then layered and attached to the mirror board to form the book shape. The butterfly is done separately and attached. All the pages can be read. Each one has different details about the couple or a message. I made a box for the card so that it can be stored.

Today I am happy to say that I have lost all the weight gained post op plus 1 more pound and have lost 50 lbs in total since last fall. And yesterday I was able to walk unaided for part of the day.

Did anyone know that yesterday was World Peace Day? Only found that out when we went to a local country park for an outing after lunch.

    Pax Vobiscum!

Joyce - You are trying so hard! Hope Charlie turns the corner soon. :flowerforyou: I think mashed potato and gravy is an excellent meal for him for now.

Janetr - I will be thinking of you and your op. Best of luck! <3 What a great photo and NSV! Mobility is the best result of weight loss. Now I can hardly remember how bad I was, but my DH sometimes reminds me. :D

Kim - So sorry about all the fires and your continuing drought. Must be very depressing. I will look up your Facebook. :flowerforyou:

I'm off to yoga in five minutes. See you later, or lighter! (Lin)
