Add a few miles slowly. I initially set a time goal. You can use the 10% rule. Or if you run twice a week for two week's you can add 2 miles. That can be another days run, or you can add mileage.

Wierd- I messed something up here!

Shin splints aren't too bad.. Feeling really good :) How do you tell if its safe to run more days? I would live to run 3-4 days each week but that and slowly increasing distance .. My legs don't adjust to change very well.

Try stretching it with this yoga routine:

10/1 - 3.1 miles on the 'mill; plus 5.8 miles / 20 minutes on stationary bike.
10/2 - Had to skip run/workout for a life insurance physical (bloodwork, etc.). Then, they couldn't get me to bleed, so I'm gonna have to do it again! Grrr!
10/3 - 11.5 miles with HM group; cool, beautiful weather!
    10/4 - waaaayy overslept!
10/5 - not off to a good start this month; kids up half the night with illness / asthma issues

    exercise.png

@kristinegift - great photos and fantastic time!
@Elise4270 - OUCH! Knock on wood, I have never had chafing issues. Glad it didn't spoil your enjoyment of the race!
@ddmom0811 - nice run! Glad you got to run with D!

Going to try to join the pet photo parade (hope it works). This is VJ (race name Visionary):

    October goal: 45

    10/1 - 2.2 miles
    10/3 - 3 miles
    10/5 - 4.1 miles run/walk

October: 9.2 of 45 miles completed

The last mile of my route today was a steep uphill so I just had to walk it. I'm also happy my husband found a route that is exactly a 5K distance!

Huge congrats to @ddmom0811, @Elise4270, and @kristinegift! So awesome you all had a good race!
@patrikc333 - sorry to hear about the dog assault. Glad you're okay. sucks the owner didn't even say anything.
@mwyvr - can't wait for you to do that trail race! I'll be waiting to read all about it.

An article that was written up in one of our local papers talking about my We Run Huntsville running club and a few of the running groups that run in our Cummings Research Park. It's actually the 2nd biggest research park in the country. The biggest one is The Research Triangle Park (RTP) in North Carolina. The article says there are 3 groups that run in CRP, I run with 2 of them (the Thursday morning Panera Pounders and the Saturday morning Brigestreet group. I can't make the Wednesday night one. I hope you can see the article.

Sounds like that could be a jazz band. Do doo n do do doooo... (Use your imaginations, its funny)

I too am respecting the rest day... It's a struggle. Physical therapist bonked me on the forehead when I told her I ran yesterday... I did however credit the ability to do so to her. I sure didn't want her to think all her work was for nothing. She's fixed me up. Vetoed any strength training. I can do ball work (sheesh, not what it might sound like) .

I respected the cutback week so much last week, I did it for 8 days.

How long are you banned from strength training?
