@ACSL3 thanks, it looks ok. had to replace mine but it had random spikes (both high and low) but that's not your case
check you set up weight/height correctly, if so, then it's a problem with the watch0 -
just noticed that in the last period my stride has shorten a lot, from 1.07m to 0.93m (but pace..., well let not mention or I get depressed...)
is this good or not? can be related with my leg problem/dark?0 -
1/12: 7km Total: 7km of 100km
I am back in the game *fist pump*
So, I cautiously headed out of the door yesterday with a promise to SWMBO that I would run an easy 5k and if I felt any problems with my left foot I would back off. The weather had eased up and it was a pleasant evening to be out.
I felt a couple of twinges in the first few kms and I was hyper aware of what my body was doing but I keep the effort level at a 6 and that soon went away. By 5km I was really starting to get into it and the last 2km just flew past. I decided to call it a day at 7km not because I was physically done but because I suspect it was my lack of discipline in respecting pace and upping mileage that contributed to my injury in the first place so am deliberately trying to reign my impulsiveness in.
I was pleased to note however when I checked my Polar on getting home that despite not running at all in the last three weeks I naturally ended up back at roughly the same easy pace as I was before. Not sure about my top end speed and that has probably suffered. However I know from my cycling experience that it generally comes back quickly.
I feel great today. The enforced rest has meant not only my foot getting better but also a few niggles resolving as well. Top banana!0 -

I am in. I am just got clearance to start running again (YAH!!!) after a piriformis injury. I am starting slow and going for 25 miles but I have a 5k December 20th so that should get me over my goal. I am trying to average 3 miles each run 2-3 times a week to build up just going slow each time.
12/2 - 3 miles at 4:15am, I am tired but glad I got out as it is supposed to be a rain/snow mix tomorrow. Good start to the month.0 -

Hey again y'all. I'm back. I tried for 100 in November, but I only got to 85. I'm shooting for 100 miles again this month.
12/1: 8.22
So far: 8.22/1000 -

Hello! I'm Shona. I finished C25K a few months ago. I'm in for 30 miles.0

My Weather report for Today - Periods of freezing rain and a few flurries. Wind becoming southwest 20 km/h gusting to 40 this morning then west 40 gusting to 60 this afternoon.
Translation - No Running Tonight without Ice Cleats and stay off the roads = no swimming. Sounds like Sofa Surfing Tonight. Hoping it will change during the day and clear off early enough to allow the trails to become useable.0 -
I'm in for 50 miles!

is this good or not? can be related with my leg problem/dark?
Distance covered = (avg stride rate) X (avg stride distance) X (minutes)
Using that formula your stride distance may have shrunk which has a direct effect on your total distance covered and pace.
So if your stride shrunk but your pace stayed the same, then that means you must be taking more steps per minute. That may actually be a good thing if you remember our 180 steps/minute discussion the last couple of months.
I wouldn't worry about stride distance so much. I would worry more about steps per minute and form (i.e where is your foot landing? under your body or way out in front?)
Quicker cadence is actually good.

I officially have achellies tendinitis I think I just caused it by playing soccer really hard this past Sunday and not taking enough time off to rest. Any words about how serious something like this is? how imperative it is that I not run or run slow or run little? I did access so much information on the web--like what stretching exercises i should do, etc. but what i don't have access to, at least i didn't find any yet, is how runners deal with it. do you rest, how long, and in what ways?
If you truly have achellies tendinitis, then all your questions should be answered by a qualified sports physiologist.0 -
@lshona: Welcome. Congrats on finishing C25K.
@7lenny7: Does that marathon have any connection with Garrison Keillor at all? (Lake Wobegon)
Dec 1: Advent begins. Light mist but warm (low 50s), still a little bit of hip twinge, nice and slow this morning, 4.44 miles.
Dec 2: Hound of the Baskervilles fog this morning, no demon dogs spotted. 2.35 miles

Hello to all you new people. I apologize for not addressing each of you individually. I hope you find this place welcoming and encouraging and helps you meet any or all of your fitness and running goals. Each one of us are here to keep us all accountable and to encourage one another. We all come from different backgrounds and experience levels. But we all started at one point in time as a newbie. Some have trodded across this running journey for some quite time, and others are just beginning. Some are lightening quick (relatively speaking) and some of you find yourself slow as moving maple syrup. No matter, we are all runners. I hope you see yourself that way.
If you need anything, just hollar and hopefully someone will answer your question. If you need anything from me, feel free to PM me or just address me in a message on this thread as @Stoshew71 and I will know to answer you here.
Don't forget that we also have a group page to find more resources. The link to the group is in my OP on page 1 of this thread.
Thanks for joining us.
Also, welcome back for December's Challenge to our regulars and to those that haven't been with us for some quite time. Welcome back!
Stan
