We need to make t-shirts, can you imagine you're walking along and you see MFP Running Challenge t-shirt running in front of you LOL

Congrats to those who have reached goal already!
I'm so jealous of everyone's great Christmas running bling - Skip did buy me a new water bottle since she broke my old one
@9voice9 I use my Garmin to track everything - steps, time, calories, pace and distance
@morningghost14 I'm with you, I HATE the rain and as you all saw from @stoshew71 pictures we are getting too much of it! Pouring most of today too. When the water receded off the greenway it tore places of the pavement up
    @snha awesome long run!!!!!
@kristinegift nice bandit look - hey have you ever had a problem wearing your watch on the outside of your jacket sleeve. Last year my iPod and my watch batteries died during a run from the cold. I had both on the outside of my jacket. I was able to replace the watch battery but it killed my iPod for ever. Love the new pictures too!

Saw physical therapist today about the pain in my knee(s), he said the right knee is ITBS. He rolled me all over the table, gave me a bunch of exercises to do, and hooked me up for heat and stimulation. He said I could keep running, but since I start to hurt around mile 3, I can only run 3 to 4 miles and no more. He asked if I sprained my ankle because the right ankle is really tight so we will work on that too. We talked for a long time about trail running that is his passion. He's trying to get me to run a few trail races.

@skippygirlsmom I haven't had issues with my watch outside my jacket (except for having to take it off to roll up sleeves or take it off) but the first day I was back at home, it was ~19 degrees and my iPod shuffle told me it was cold. It lasted 6 miles, but probably shouldn't have taken it out. I've never had issues with the Garmin though!

Found the plan I'm going to follow! Yippee! www.walkjogrun.net Beginner Marathon Training Plan. Instead of demanding certain miles, I have to put in the amount of time, and the number of miles (initially) isn't as important. My first 10 mile long run is 2/20, which is the 10 mile race I signed up for. The first few weeks running is 3x a week then it bumps up to 4x a week. Cross training and rest days built into the schedule which is very helpful to me. It's supposed to start today, but that would hinder me making goal this month, so I'm modifying it just for this week.

I'm glad you found a plan, and that you're wise enough to modify it when appropriate. Just a thought - if what you're already doing is more than the start of the plan, it wouldn't be the worst thing to start at some week of the plan that approximates where your fitness is right now.

Maybe not... but this group lacks medals and t-shirts, and you know we runners love swag!
You could hand out your special running burglar gear... @mobycarp could thrown in some antlers....

Probably not. I have 3 pair of antlers from doing Reindeer Run the past 3 years; any reasonable criterion for the bling would have far more than 3 members of this group qualifying.

2016 miles in 2016 is an interesting concept. [pause to check records] I have 1828.33 miles in so far in 2015, and I project to run about 13 more miles before the end of the year. On the one hand, I'm not particularly close for 2015. On the other hand, I'll be starting 2016 with more miles the first week than my peak week in 2015 and putting in a lot of miles between the start of the year and Patriot Day. And I've already registered and paid for 99.2 miles of races in 2016; more will appear on my calendar as the year progresses.

The gripping hand is, it's one more online site to use to keep track of stuff. I think I'll pass. I already know I'll be time crunched between work and training once 5 day work weeks start back up in January. I can let a few online interactions drop, particularly since I'm more focused on miles per week than miles per month or miles per year.

    12/4 3.5 @ 11:03 (really 3.25 at 10:48, plus .25 at a walk) on the treadmill, plus strength training
12/5 3 miles hiking with the cub scouts :)

12/6 Woke up feeling sore from Friday's strength training, so took a rest day
12/7 9.25 @ 12:26 on the park trail, nice and easy

    12/9 5.25 @ 11:32 on the treadmill
12/10 Sort of rest day? Trip to Colonial Williamsburg with my daughter's history class. Lots of walking!
    12/11 6.25 @ 11:18 on the treadmill.
    12/12 Rest Day

    12/13 3.25 @ 10:10 (5K race chip time 32:06--I finished 191/395 women 30/64 in my age group)

12/20 Sick day -- I seem to have developed the creepin' crud

    12/23 3.5 @ 10:13 on the treadmill
12/24 2.25 @ 13ish outside in the drippy-drippy rain and humidity. With the slowest dog on earth. Who has been stuck inside because of the rain and needed to get rid of 3 days worth of...stuff. And needed to chase *all* the squirrels. Ugh. I think I actually ran pretty well when I was actually, you know, running.
12/25 Merry Christmas Rest Day. Happy Holidays to all!
12/26 5 @ 11:38 through the neighborhood trails in my brand new super-squishy purple slime Guide 8s and the most expensive pair of socks (Feetures) I've ever owned. Woohoo!

12/28 3.5 @ 11:42 on the treadmill in the gym at the fancy-dancy hotel. Sadly, the treadmill was yuck, not fancy.

Doesn't look like I'll be making my goal this month. I was completely on track through Friday. Drove home from my parents house yesterday, so decided to put my long run off until today. Around 3am, I woke up with excruciating pain in my neck and shoulder. I'm on muscle relaxers and ibuprofen. It's helping somewhat, but still can't move my neck much to the left. Barring a miraculous recovery, I won't be able to make my goal. Would have to do 9 tomorrow, 4 Wednesday, and 7 Thursday to make it happen...

So frustrating to be sidelined with a non running injury. All injuries are frustrating, but at least a running injury would make sense...

Okay, I have been trying to look into as many races/fun runs as I can for next year.. There are a few, though some are too far for me to get to around kids and family commitments. So I'm aiming to do some virtual runs around the races I can get to- to help motivate me (Let's face it.. It's nice to get a medal for the hard work!)

Most races over here don't offer medals, unless you run a HM or Marathon! So.. some medals would be appreciated  We usually get a small showbag with some flyers on local businesses, small discounts off running apparel and depending on the race, a tee or singlet to wear (which is only offered at 1 of the major races I'm pretty sure). So.. it would be nice to get a medal!

I've added these three to my list from the U.S. Road Running site:
    30/1- New Year Virtual 10K
    27/2- Ninja Virtual 10K
31/3- Howl At The Moon Virtual 10K

And just paid for my first race, the New Year Virtual 10k!

    12/2 4 miles
    12/6 6 miles
    12/10 6 miles
    12/11 3.5 miles
    12/17 5 miles
    12/18 3.5 miles
    12/20 3.5 miles
    12/21 3.5 miles
    12/25 3.5 miles
12/26 4 miles (accidentally put 12/16 in the first post)
    12/28 4 miles

OK 3.5 miles from my goal of 50. I originally figured I might not make it with the holiday stuff going on, but assuming I don't step off any more sidewalks and injure myself (ha! that's not a safe assumption!), or illness, or emergency, I think I'll manage ;)

@Virkati yea! Glad you found a plan!

Who needs motivation for 2016! I DO! LOL! http://www.runtheyear2016.com/

2016 miles impossible? You can form a team! Wha!! @ACSL3 thanks for sharing this!

Yay. Thanks for sharing :) I posted it on my newsfeed yesterday but had several pages in here to catch up on. I signed up for it but will be counting both walking and running. I'm not up to running 2016 miles in a year yet ;) My fitbit says I've walked+ran 1700 miles, but it's low since there's a few weeks in there where I'm missing whole data. I figure this will be a good challenge and I'm probably ~200 miles under it this past year. That means adding <1mi/day this year to make the goal

Finally crossed the 200 mile mark for the month on my easy 6 mile run tonight. Knees were still a bit sore after my long/harder run last night, so I'll play my remaining 28 miles by ear.

I've been hopeless at posting my progress but I'm on 199/200km. Not quite sure why I didn't run a bit extra this morning to meet my goal but it should be good motivation for a final run before the end of the year :)

Think I have just broken my little toe by accidentally banging it on a door. Far too painful to walk with trainers on. Gutting I might now not make goal despite walking almost 30k in the last week whilst loaded with cold to keep this goal alive. Any tips on walking with broken toe. (Not going to doctor as I have done this before and when I called they told me they can't do anything - tape your toes together and rest. Their website says the same).

1-6.65mi build up run from 13:07-11:04
    2-strength and yoga day
3-6.69mi fast run 11:40, technically. but reality is we have 5 min warm up and potty breaks for the dog
4-rest day, maybe yoga day. feeling poopy
5-13.17mi I was only scheduled for 11 but I was feeling so good at 9 miles I went on and decided to do a whole 13. I have to say a marathon isn't that scarey now.
6-3.18mi for recovery and to do the Runkeeper Global 5k
    7-yoga
8-rest day. so tired i'm dizzy. not sure why
9-no sleep last night-rest. I'm calling it recovery week from the 18miles this weekend  aerial yoga at night
10-3.12mi with hills, including two steep ones. top of quads and hips still feel extremely tight
11-planned on running but was too tired still. rest day
12-10.37 it went well. I was supposed to run the last three with my stepdaughter-to-be but typical teenager, she slept in. tried a new trail. it was nice and foggy. good run
13-meant to make up the other three. didn't happen
    14-yoga day.
15-6.56mi They felt fast. I felt fast. runkeepers updates overall made me sound fast, but i was slow. 1 min off my pace.
16-yoga day. I did a video for the GOT challenge. not as satisfying as my asanas :( Great aerial yoga night though
17-6.48mi. I'm not sure if the distance is right because i ran the same route as the 15th. hard run but i feel good about finishing it
18-rest day. stretchng this morning. working on my splits for yoga. yoga tonight of some form or another
19-13.2mi it was hard. it didn't feel easy like my last 13
    20-rest day
    21-stomach bug
    22-stomach bug
23-up late with a butt sick dog and still a little queasy.
24-5.67mi Those sucked. The winds were horrible and my legs felt like lead
25-rest day-almost ran but got lazy
26-13.17mi I thought it was a good run but I got called 2x and lost my rhythm. slow slow run
