What a fab website! Apparently I'm 7.5% smaller than I estimated.
My NSV is that today I did W9D2 of Couch to 5 K, ran for a tad longer, and ended up running 5 K in 30 mins 40 seconds! My goal for the end of the year (!) was to run a sub 30 minute 5 K, but I think I might be able to crack that on my final C25K run in a couple of days...6 -

Thanks it just seems surreal sometimes. All the times I've tried to lose weight and now its finally working so it feels odd. Guess I expected to fail again which is pretty sad.4 -

So funny, it turns out I'm 5.6% LARGER than I thought I was
Whenever I lose half a pound I look in the mirror and think "Oh! I'm so skinny now!" even though it literally makes no difference, haha NOT quite yet. I just love progress! no matter how small!

Today marks 30 days of tracking. This is the longest that I've been consistent without any external "weight loss challenges". I'm tentatively optimistic. I'm walking more, which I really enjoy - as do the kid and dog.
I'd love to add weight training since I've had such success in the past just by adding that component - but where's the magic pill that makes me love working out? Maybe I'll start with once a week and just see where it takes me. I'm terrible for setting unrealistic goals and I'm mindfully avoiding that now.4 -
Nobody told me that I would have changes in my head - physical changes - as in the bones of my cranium are more pronounced and I can feel the musculature in my neck and up the back of my head. I'm glad I have hair, my scalp probably looked really bad before, all rolls and wrinkles. Yikes.0

I have one University friend who has disappointed me. She is 10 stone and is shorter than me but has no conception of my weight because I'm taller. I said I had lost a stone in 2 weeks and that I had 2 1/2 stone to go and she said that sounded too much and asked me what I was eating! I went dry for January which is not even weight loss related for a lot of people and she almost shamed me for refusing free alcohol and said that I've never refused free alcohol before! I saw her last weekend and the first thing she said was "oh wow looking very skinny minny" before even saying hello! Do you reckon I should say something or just ignore it?0 -

In a similar situation to you - I started the same day haha I lost 19 so far and I will be recording my weight and measurements tomorrow morning fingers crossed!
I find I think about food/fitness a lot and that's what drives me. Reading Women's Health magazine and other related fitness ones are a great motivation plus they pass the time when on the bike for 15 mins on an interval setting!
I do find it most difficult when being social as my friends don't think of food/drink the same way I do!0 -
You need to work on building muscle or your butt will be flat. Squat, squat, squat. My hubby's biggest fear is for my butt to disappear.3

Some people are very clumsy in their acknowledgement of your success. They also often don't understand that what you are doing is healthy. I would just ignore it and smile.
I have a friend who is similar, she always greets me with 'wow you look so skinny' which makes me uncomfortable. I just go along with it and thank her because I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt that she means well!3 -

I think back to when I was getting started on a healthier plan, and the challenges I felt to control my eating, like craving sweet or salty foods. Now, the cravings have become much less challenging and I have learned to reach for better choices like an orange. I still eat foods that I love, but in moderation and 1 serving size. Once I got into a healthy behavior plan and practiced it daily, it does get easier. This is something I didn't think was possible.1

I'm missing the outrage of friends noticing the weightloss....! I guess their filter is off since they know you already?!? I would honestly feel fine with any friend calling me skinny lol! I'd probably even love them a little more for that!!!5

That no matter how far you come all it takes is a snowballing effect to knock you off track. Thankfully once you recognize the pattern you can get back to being on top of things.
Some days you'll look in the mirror during your journey and struggle with whether you like the new you you're becoming or not.3 -
Nobody told me I would become overly judgmental of others who claim to want to lose weight but fail. A few members, including me, of an all female weight loss group on Facebook are challenging each other to see who can lose the most weight in February. One of the participants has maintained her weight in the last two weeks.This annoys me deeply for some reason. I just don't understand why she would say she wanted to participate but she isn't putting in any effort at all? Another girl in it refuses to post pictures of the scale as proof to her weight loss. We have girls of all levels participating so she has no reason to feel this way. We all also personally know each other so no one would be mean or rude to her even if she was the biggest. This week she didn't even post a weekly check in at all. I saw the challenge as motivation and it has worked. It's only 29 days, come, on!2

Over the last 20 years I have gained and lost the same 25 lbs... it was almost a three year cycle.
I used to stop at that point because I felt like I 'lost the weight'... now, for the first time in ages, I am past that point and my weight is still going down because I know I need to lose more and that I can and will. Incredible feeling.7 -
1. My kids can reach around when they hug me.
2. I spill less on the front of my clothes.
3. I don't get marks on my waist from too tight clothes.
4. I can hoist the Xmas Tree back to top storage rack of the garage by myself.
5. I poop only once every other day.
6. I don't get a rash on my inner thighs during a walk.
7. I sweat a lot more when I work out.
8. When I sing, I can hold a note longer but my sounds is much smaller.
9. I pee clear.
10. I fart ALL the time.6 -
Becoming OBSESSED with Tupperware. I recently had to arrange my entire kitchen to give my Tupperware collection its own cabinet.
You also don't realize that your weight rewards no longer revolve around food. My new rewards are shoes or gym clothes.2 -

Yes, I didn't realize how scary the falling part of it was until I was in it three weeks. I've had minor set backs before but nothing like the last three weeks where I gained 7 lbs. Then, out of nowhere, I'm back on track and calculate 3 weeks to make up for the setback. Almost two years doing this, it showed me how easy it is to really undo hard work... I mean EASY...lol
