My fingers are suddenly so skinny! This delights me! Not sure why, but it does.5

The year started out with an injury that really limited my mobility, and now I'm caring for a family member who's had surgery. This is a less than ideal situation for meeting any fitness goals. And I'm not: I have made zero progress in weight or training... I'm probably a few steps back on the fitness front.
All that said, I keep telling myself that this is an opportunity to learn what maintenance feels like. And while the fitness front is not so great, I'm shocked at how little I need to meal plan to feel good about about what I'm eating. Without a doubt, I could be doing better. But nutrition has become enough of a habit that I don't have to think about it. Score!3 -

Great idea to explore maintenance through a difficult period! You can do this!0 -
I've only lost about 20 lbs and an inch off of my waist so far, but I've noticed that I've lost my double chin and my wedding band is looser.2

Pulled a 295lb deadlift... on a misloaded bar... one side was 10lbs heavier than the other. Oops/1

It's still been chilly enough for a light sweatshirt when I go to the gym in the evening or early AM, and I saw a class regular who hadn't been around for awhile in my normal Saturday class last week and once I pulled off my sweatshirt she commented that "omg you've gotten so much smaller!" I was super excited, after nearly 30 lbs lost that is the first time someone has noticed and commented.
Lol I was starting to think it was going to take 50lbs lost before anyone ever noticed!3 -
It looks like maybe all the late results are in, and I appear to have finished the first World Rowing Indoor Sprints at #3 (which is in the medals!) in my new age/weight group (Lightweight Women 60-69 - just turned 60 in November and it totally blows me away that I'm now a lightweight). I'm right behind rowers from Denmark (#1) and Australia (#2).
I grant you, this age/weight group wasn't terribly competitive in this first year - I'm usually somewhere in the 50-percentile to 75-percentile kind of range in race pieces among those who log them online - but I'll take it! ;-) I've been rowing for around 12 years, but as a heavyweight (a.k.a. openweight) rower. Heavyweight is a bit more competitive - taller, stronger people, and more of them. Rowers tend to be tall; I'm only 5'5".
Woohoo - you go Ann! You continue to inspire me that I too can do it!0 -
This is not only an NSV but probably also a little off topic.
My overeating (or maybe compulsive eating) and shopping seem somehow related. When I am out of control with my food, I am also out of control with my shopping. I think they are both triggered by when I am unhappy with my life and body and I try to eat/shop to make myself feel better.
Well this year I am trying to declutter my life and made a resolution to not shop for anything other than things that were real necessities - groceries, toilet paper etc. I already have way too many clothes in all different sizes, as well as I had plenty for my kids (I used to always shop ahead for the next year at sales for the kids).
Its been three months now and I have stuck to my resolve. As a bonus, my eating is back under control as well. The best part is that I am not tempted to shop - I'm not having to exert my will power to stop myself (which I think would eventually be a losing battle) - somehow I have just lost the urge to shop.7 -

My latest NSV: I am currently wearing a pair of jeans I haven't been able to wear for a couple of years.2

I spent all morning pulling weeds in my vegetable garden, dreaming of all the delicious things I will be planting. Every other year, I would have had to do it over several days.4

Been lifting long enough now that calluses are forming. They are a little gross but I feel pretty badass anyway4

My size 16 jeans (stretchy) were too baggy to ignore so I decided to add some jeans to my temporary wardrobe. I hadn't really shopped since my starting weight of 258 and I was pleased to fit snugly into a pair of size 12s4

My laptop is now a laptop! lol I can actually have my laptop on my lap while sitting without having to hold it up with one hand because my stomach was in the way! 84lbs lost4

I love this thread. When I'm tempted to go off the rails, I pop over to this thread as I'm always motivated to stick with my goals. Surely this is a NSV too Thanks All!
This week I completed W1 C25K and managed the most number of steps I've ever done in a day - 26,064!! Both helped me pushed past a plateau which lasted a couple months. This past week, I've had so many compliments about how great I look that my confidence is soaring.

I've always been an all in or all out person, so I would do really well with losing for about a month, then take a "day off," and never go back. Well in the last two weeks I've gone out of town twice, and celebrated st Patrick's day on Thursday and even after not tracking all of those times, as soon as I got back home I got back on the wagon. This is a huge step for me and motivating that I'll keep this lifestyle change!4

Two GUYS at my exercise session yesterday noticing that I'd lost weight but "hadn't liked to say so". I glowed all the way home3

I use to wear these certain pair of spanks all the time but I haven't worn them in over a year. I'm going out tonight and I didn't like how my stomach looked in the shirt I want to wear so I grabbed these spanks and they're too loose!
You don't know how excited this makes me!4 -
Nice work everyone. I'm proud of my 70 day logging streak. It makes all the difference when you hold yourself accountable for your choices. Thanks for the stories -- keep posting!

My boyfriend asked if I wanted anything brought home from Starbucks and I said no.
Well, he brought back my favourite venti peppermint mocha frapp AND a blueberry scone.
I couldn't be rude cause it's the gesture that counts so I had 2 bites, a couple of sips and put it down.
Then afterwards, I said he could have some of the scone so he took it to another room. Thank god. Lol
Now the frapp is sitting here taunting me.
I'm kinda upset that he brought this home though because he knows I'm dieting and can't be eating this stuff. He's supposed to be dieting too and has over 50lbs to lose whereas I'm 10 lbs away from goal weight. So I'm kinda mad at him for not staying on track and trying to take me down too. I know it's wasnt his intention but that's how it makes me feel.3 -
avg resting heart rate in late January was 78...last three days it's been 58.5

Had to buy new pants for a job interview, went to local store and when the saleslady asked if she could help and I explained what I was looking for she took me to the 'regular' side of the store, Not the plus side!

Mistakenly buying a uk size 10 top instead of a 12, and it fits!!! And has horizontal stripes!4

I had to run some errands for my grandparents and they asked me to grab them McDonald's for lunch before stopping over. They requested my favorite past time meal, too. I'm pleased to say that I not only didn't order anything; I didn't even steal a french fry.5

Went to try out a gym because I really need to find something new to push me. My current routine has suited me for a long time and I have pushed myself quite hard, but I am gettign to the limits of what I can do on my own.
Now I dislike gyms a lot and avoided going so far, but after a lot of soulsearching and local investigation I decided I should at least give it a go. This one is close to home, small and intimate, ladies only and was very inviting when I asked questions.
I did a trial 60 minute total body workout class. Not only did I like it, I kept up with the whole class, was not out of breath but still felt I had had a great work out. The next day I could feel my muscles to the extend of well done, without being exessively sore. But what I really liked, being sef consious about it all, I wasn't the biggest in the room and I was doing better than quite of few of the regulars. I can so, so do this!
I decided that I'll be joining this gym after easter (just because I am away a lot between not and then) and will probably use it a lot8 -
I was lifting weights at the gym when 1 of the regular guys came over & asked if I played sports because I looked like an athlete & was there every day. I am NOT an athlete, but it's good to know I could look like one:)3
