The body burns energy night and day.
I've lost 79 lbs in the past year and reached goal, and I eat three quarters of my calories an hour or less before bed.
The "Don't eat X hours before bed" is a myth.
Best wishes.
I agree with you @Orphia but for me and a lot of others that use this challenge to stay on track it's that eating later on at night while watching TV turns into mindless snacking very quickly and before you know I've doubled my calorie intake in an hour. So having this challenge has been great to keep accountable at night.OP and all - just for my understanding - why you don't want to late night snack?
Dear @abadvat, as you can see we've already had the discussion earlier this month on this thread. If you care to look there is also some other comments regarding this from some other members of this challenge but considering you obviously couldn't be bothered to look at previous posts I thought I'd quote these comments "just for your understanding"4 -

Ok, I think this is a great challenge, but here's my problem. I work a swing shift 3:30 pm to midnight. We generally go to bed around 4-4:30 am. I eat breakfast around 1:30-2 pm and take all the rest of my food with me to work. I drive 1 hr each way. I get home at 1am and have to cook dinner for my disabled husband. When I do that, it's hard not to eat the same time he does. So recently I have started waiting to eat my dinner until he eats, and then I usually have my LNS after that (I try to stick with 100 calories or less). Which means I stop eating (MAYBE) around 2-230 am, about 2 hrs before I go to bed. If I eat dinner at work, then I have my LNS when he eats dinner, but then I usually end up eating more calories for the LNS. So, anybody have an idea where I should tweak, since I have to cook a meal so late at night?

**and no, I rarely get to bed before 4:30 am because of DH's medication schedule. Sometimes, it's as late as 5:30 if he's not feeling well.
Wow! Bless you and your DH's heart. You carry a huge load for your household.
For this challenge, though, everyone sets their own goals. For the routine described above, maybe you decide "no LNS after 2am." Uninformed bystanders may not see that as a hard goal, without knowing your schedule. The fact is, HERE we just want to challenge and encourage. We don't judge participants for the goals they set. Frankly, you don't have to publish your cutoff time if you're concerned about people's opinions. Just post your wins/losses.
Welcome aboard! Be encouraged. (Isaiah 40:28-29)
Welcome @GOINSTD12! @WalkerPop is spot on! Do what feels right with your schedule and what fits your goals.3 -

Ha - most enriching - thank you @freakymistkd
Failing to understand how can people can supposedly control themselves during the day and then comes night all evil breaks loose.
MFP is done to plan and control calories and macros ALL DAY LONG!
Anyhow - the +1 awesome tag is mine as a thank you to fill in "my understanding"!1 -
@abadvat for me it's when I finish the day and sit down with a cup of tea to watch some telly. I might think to myself I can have a biscuit or a piece of chocolate because I've got 100 calories to spare for today and then before I know it I've gotten up in every ad break and gotten another one biscuit or peice of chocolate and it's definitely not a hunger thing for me it's just, I guess, a bit of a boredom thing. This is the third month of doing this challenge and in the first month (march) I was having streaks of maybe two of three nights and then have two or three nights of snacking. Then towards the end of the month I managed a streak of 14 days. At the start of April I struggled with this again having one or two days of no mindless snacking. I feel as thought half way through the month my mindset changed a bit and I said to myself that I would finish the month and beat my previous streak. I don't want to jinx myself by saying this but it has seemed easier this month and perhaps I have broken that habit which is what it had become. Don't get me wrong I'll have nights that after dinner I've still got calories to spare so I'll have a treat for dessert but as long as it doesn't turn into mindless snacking then I count that as a win for me. People say to me why don't you just make sure you don't have chocolate, cake, biscuita, chips and all those foods in your house but, one, that wouldn't be fair on my husband and daughter and, two I don't want to completely cut those foods out. I like eating them haha. I find it easier to not mindlessly snack on things if they are at least in the cupboard but on nights when my hubby has forgotten to put the packet away and they're sitting right there in front of that's when I struggle the most.
Sorry for rambling
Hats off to you for not having the evil snacking monster whispering in your ear. That's awesome for you.
