@7lenny7 - It never dawned on me that the Clinton Lake run was on Labor Day weekend! I'm surprised they were able to get those trails reserved for that time! I might not be so free for the 9/24 run the more I think about it because I have a road half the next day on 9/25 and the  Queen Of All  here is already a little bit ruffly about the back-to-backs 3 weekends in a row in November! :grimace: That series was a "ask for forgiveness" audible, so I have to keep that in mind. I also need to bring up the fact that two of them are out of town at some point... :grimace::scream::cold_sweat:

There is one more option in December that I missed previously. A 10 mile trail run on 12/3 - http://www.psychowyco.com/id44.html

There are also winter runs as an option too. That same group has a February run which is supposed to be some challenging trails, and the best shot of having any white stuff on the ground in this part of the country. I know you like the white stuff, not that ours will compare to what you get up there by any stretch!

I broke the 2nd pair of new Glycerin 14's on today's 6 mile easy run. Despite running in the rain on paved trails with plenty of puddles my feet did not feel as slow or heavy as yesterday. But while my pace is back up to normal-ish for an easy run I would just call this an average run, not great, not bad. The shoes are comfy and familiar feeling but I am still undecided about how they compare to the 13's. I'll give these some fair amount of time before I give much more feedback about them.

Hello peeps. My six TM miles was a total non-scale victory because I kept it under 5.5 mph like I had promised myself I wou---- oh wait, no I didn't. My fifth mile was at 6.0 because I dared my reflection. I am my own worst enemy. It was a fun mile though.

@Elise4270 You ran! LOL about the legs. And I've never had a pedicure and I have ugly feet anyway ;)

    @ddmom0811 That book sounds interesting.

Got my 3 miles done with no knee trouble. Yay. Breathing was a little rough. I had a random asthma attack Sunday so I may be heading into a flare. It was gray and a coolish 55 degrees but 78% humidity so I sweat plenty as usual.

Waited and waited, and waited until it finally cooled off. Then I got a little 6 km run in - 32 mins. A very slow run in the evening heat but at least I got out the door. Had a lady on rollerblades pace with me for 2 km, somehow its just not fair so little effort - so much speed. This weekend most of my local club is heading out to Red Deer,AB for the Marathon which is a BQ.

Unfortunately it's my turn to be the On-Call Tech which means no Running Road Trips - unless >:) . So it will be a very small group running locally, maybe only me. It is a Long Weekend here - Victoria Day so Monday is a holiday which means the Pool will be closed so running will be my goto exercise for the weekend.

    05/01 – 0.0 Km – 0.0 - 140 km
    05/01 – 10.0 Km – 10.0 - 130 km
    05/05 – 14.0 Km – 24.0 - 116 km
    05/08 – 8.0 Km – 32.0 - 108 km
    05/11 – 11.0 Km – 43.0 - 97 km
    05/12 – 9.0 Km – 52.0 - 88 km
    05/14 – 10.0 Km – 62.0 - 78 km

@ohhim - jealous of you running out of the FL heat!
@AdrianChr92 - thanks for sharing the video. I didn't remember that about Oscar Wilde.

This morning was much better than yesterday as far as humidity. Lots of thunderstorms overnight so maybe it sucked away the humidity. Supposed to do a bike ride tonight but more storms are on the way... so may not get it in.
    One more day with seniors!

    5/1 - 35 mile cycling
    5/2 - 5 miles
    5/3 - 3.5 miles
    5/4 - 5 miles - intervals, sort of.

Yay! Glad to see you both running again @Elise4270 and @greenolivetree!

@juliet3455 - That sounds irritating, what was that rollerblader thinking? Maybe they thought you looked good and were gawking or something?

I may be getting myself in trouble. After looking at other halfs to sign up for I have targeted a few as "good potential". I won't pull the trigger on any until Friday. I just hope I don't go crazy and sign up for everything! I also hope I wait until Friday.

Here's a very short video from the marathon I ran Saturday. It really captures the race well, I think. I just missed being in it. When you see the green man at the finish, I was just 30 seconds behind him.

@moyer566: I like Maine Coons, too! They're huge, cuddly, and pretty awesome. They were on my short list of cat breeds when I was trying to figure out what I wanted, but I decided I didn't want to deal with the fur, though, in hindsight, I'm not sure Bengal fur is any better - it's very short and very fine, which is awesome in one respect because it's hard to see on things because it looks a lot more like fuzz than pet hair, but on the other hand, it's so fine that it literally floats through the air and ends up EVERYWHERE. I sometimes wonder how many cat hairs I've inhaled over the past six years.

Well, I got off my butt, yesterday, and I decided to do a hill workout. First, this was my first run in over two weeks because I got insanely lazy, so that definitely didn't make it easy, and hills just outright suck. It was slow, it was hard, but I did it. I have wedding stuff to attend for most of the rest of the week, but I do plan on running along Kelly Drive in Philly on Saturday morning while my boyfriend rows, but I have a feeling he'll be skipping practice since I know there will be lots of drinking on Friday night. I'll just drive myself over there, if that's the case. I don't plan on having more than a few drinks. That run on a Saturday morning always makes me happy - the people watching is fantastic.

    05/01 10.00 mi – Broad Street Run
    05/17 3.23 mi
    TOTAL 13.23 mi

    5/2 – rest day
    5/3 – extra rest day
    5/4 – 3.51 almost easy
    5/5 – 6.34 easy
    5/6 – planned rest day
    5/7 – 11.02 with pace group
    5/8 – extra rest day
    5/9 – scheduled rest day
    5/10 – extra rest day
    5/11 – no running
    5/12 – no running
5/13 – PT appointment, no running
    5/14 – no running
    5/15 – no running, DNS for 10K
    5/16 – no running
    5/17 – PT appointment, 2.03 warm up

May total to date – 26.01

Nominal Challenge Goal – 150 miles
Real Goals: Recover from Boston and Flower City. Build Base. Start training program for Rochester Marathon Recover from injury, return to running.

Today's notes – Yesterday's PT appointment went well, and I decided that it was time to test running after nine (9) days off. Went to the club with the plan of running the 2 mile warm up, and if that went well doing some easier intervals on the track. Set out with some other runners and deliberately stayed behind a guy who is slower than I am, to ensure I would run slower than I would if I were solo.

It was less than a triumphant return to running. This was the first session at a local college track, and the traditional warm up route is on asphalt sidewalks and crushed stone path. There was more asphalt and less crushed stone than I remembered, and the inclines and declines I didn't even notice 11 months ago were very noticeable. Various places in my right leg were aching before I was half done. It might have been smart to stop a quarter mile early, but I ran the full route with the group, 2.03 miles in 17:53 for an average pace of 8:49. It might have been smarter to do my warm up on the soft, level track; but a track is boring for steady easy running.

It was clear by the time I got done that I was done for the day. Did some stretching, talked to various folks I know including the coach, and came home for a hot bath and more stretching. By bedtime, my leg felt totally normal. This morning, I *could* run again; but there are some training soreness areas, and I think the better part of valor is to take today as a rest day. If the leg does start feeling totally normal by evening, maybe I'll go run some on a track. More likely, today will be a rest day. I'd rather come back permanently than come back too quickly and set myself back.

For now, I'm content with the result. It's not a triumphant return, but it is progress.

January 1, 2016 Resolution Run 7.5 mile (Mendon, NY) finished in 53:58

Notes on today: Cross Training day today...ugh.....No motivation for it, but I got in the minimum 30 minutes my training plan called for. Interesting note. I discovered an instability/weakness in my right ankle/foot today. I never notice it when running, but definitely felt it jumping back up from burpees and doing butktickers. This could be because I do my HIIT barefoot and always wear shoes when running.

Currently shopping amazon for ankle supports and running socks...what socks do people here wear? I only have 1 pair of running socks right now....
