I jumped in late last month so I'm excited to start from thee beginning this time. I had a goal of 65 miles last month and ended at 72.6. I'm going to push for 80 this month.
Coming up
6/4 - Butterfly 5k (fun team run so won't be racing)
6/7 - Corporate Challenge 3.5 miles
6/25 - Zero Prostate Cancer Run (maybe?)3 -
@5beautifuldays - Happy Birthday Running Day
@Mobycarp - I too will observe Running Day by having a much needed rest day!
@4leighbee - I too was impressed that @poppetsmaster did not trigger a single censored *kitten* or any other animal.2 -
It promises to be a good month, looks like @poppetsmaster has some friendly ( humour ) competition from @Zom_bunny. Like others I was impressed that not a single kitten was hurt in his Bourbon laced rant about Global Running Day. I know nothing about Global Running day. All I really know is that It's Wednesday which means Wednesday Night Pats Creek Hill Climb or lazy 5-10 km on the Riverbank Trails with our local group, depending on weather and which trails are unpassable.
140km goal for the month.
Upcoming Events Subject to change.
June 12, 2016 Heritage Run Half Marathon
July ???
August ???
Sept 11, 2016 Don't Get lost in the Woods HM
Sept 23, 2016 Roots and Ruts 10km3 -
May was awful for me, glad it's over! I'm aiming for 60 miles again, nothing is going to stop me this month!2
-
I just got back from chaperoning my son's junior high graduation party. My plans for global running day are to sleep in, go to work late then come home and go to bed early.5
-
New here! I'm gonna try for 60!
Upcoming events:
6/25 The Dirty Dash2 -
I had to think about this month's goal for a while since a) there's been some flooding here in southern Germany and my regular running path is closed, b) I'm going away for a few days this week, and c) I don't want to risk setting a goal I can't reach. Still, I passed my May goal by several km, so I'm going for 35km this month (running only).
I had a nice shorter run this morning - the weather is warm and the air is humid, so I felt that I had to wear my running shorts instead of tights, which always makes me feel self-conscious. It was still a good choice though. I've been feeling pretty great for the past couple of days anyway (looks like all the exercise I've been getting is actually doing me some good) and running wasn't too hard this morning. Still working on pacing and heart rate though...

Happy National Running Day!
Got up at 4:45am to get my run in before work and it was fantastic! Only 62 degrees F (17 degrees C) out and no humidity and was able to take Neeko with me again so we were both happy. Rediscovered that I actually CAN run without needing a million walk breaks and got thru the 22 minute run with only 1 needed and that was because my piraformis started complaining and needed a short break. Only down side was I wanted 3 miles but ran out of time to avoid making hubby and I late for work.
My question of the day, is it better to get up at o' dark 30 to run when it is cool and get a really good quality run in or should I run a little later in the morning since unfortunately my race doesn't start until 8 AM and I am worried about the heat on race day but I know my training runs will be crap?
Date Run Totals
6/1 - 2 mi - 2 mi
Goal 40 miles
Races :
6/11 Run and Ride 5K Cedar Point
7/10 Debbie Hudacko 5 mile
10/8 Outdoor Trail Series 5 mile #1
11/5 Outdoor Trail Series 5 mile #2

12/? Santa Hustle Half Marathon Cedar Point
Need to find a 10K in September or October I think.3 -
Completely destroyed my goal last month, but going to stay a bit conservative this month as I have no HM to train for/run now until September. So, with that said, I think I'll try for 70 miles this month and see how that goes.

2 little miles this morning in honor of National Running Day (come on people - just go with it - if we don't run on this day, WHO WILL?)
66 degrees with 91% humidity. This is why I don't usually run on summer mornings. It may be 80 at 8pm but lower humidity. Approximately 3 more months of this weather. I will survive and that first 48 degree run of Fall I'll be shivering and overdressed4 -
-
I am going with a goal of 125. Same as last month, only hopefully I won't miss a week plus due to illness.
Good luck all! As always, thanks @Stoshew71 for organizing us all!
6/1 - 5.11 miles on National / Global Running Day! Woot!

So this means that we should go barefoot running carrying an olive branch and say something nice to all the other runners going by us, eat some hazelnut cake afterwards, give the heimlich to the ones that ate their cake before doing a proper cool down, and then write about it all to their penpal.8 -

But I do have 12 miles planned.
@stoshew71 great summary of the day
@ceciliaslater good luck on the surgery
@poppetsmaster - you just make me laugh
@greenolivetree - they have a day for you, how cool is that
@5beautifuldays Happy Birthday!
@mnlittlefinn - nice run today
@kimlight2 - I would continue to train at the time I normally do and maybe throw in a couple "real time" runs that would better reflect rain day.
okay I hate that MFP isn't auto filling names it makes me batty. Thanks for those who asked in the May thread how I was feeling, much better today. I will probably run tonight, I had to get the other half to the airport by 6 this morning and a last morning of cuddling was more important than my run. Skip said thank you for the congrats on her 10K, she was really happy with her time and said she felt great the whole race.
Welcome to all the new folks, it's great to have you here!9 -

I'm not going to set a mileage goal this month. I'm going from being a stay-at-home mom for the past eight years to working full time with a commute starting next week. Therefore, my goal in June is to find a routine that will still allow me to run and lift.7

May did not go as I had hoped. I was just coming off of my 3rd bronchial infection since January and I was still feeling cruddy, so I took some extended rest time. Hopefully this month will be better! (I'm also going to start a Paleo diet in hopes it will help with fatigue and other things.) Anyhow.. to the point!
My goal for June is to build up my base, so I will keep track of any purposeful walks in addition to interval run/walking, maybe actual running if I'm up to it.
I will go for at least 25 miles this month. I think keeping my goal flexible will help me stay motivated, but not over do it.5 -
Ah, June 1st is here! That makes me very happy, and not because it's Global Running Day or whatever, but because that means that May is gone and I can get back to my life as I know it. May is the worst month for running because it's filled with gardening obligations that can't be postponed, too many family commitments and it always culminates with our Sunday-before-Memorial Day-Greatest-Day-In-Racing party, which means too much food and way too much drink.
So here we are in June and, as I mentioned before, I am in great need of re-evaluating my relationship with running. After qualifying for Boston, I have just lost all desire to train with that competitive edge. I don't really care if I get faster and I don't really care how many miles I log. I want to run, but I have no real desire to beat myself up in the process. My goal for June is to focus on my overall well being and not really have any running goal *erases previously posted goal of 130 miles*. Here are my commitments for June:
1. Some form of exercise before work every day, even if it's only 20 minutes of yoga. I have found that this definitely increases my energy and my ability to stay focused on my work.
2. Try not to focus on mileage or speed. Enjoy my running and, most importantly, stay injury free.
3. Look into incorporating more trail running into my schedule. What little trail running I have done, I have enjoyed.
I will probably continue to post my miles to keep with the spirit of the thread, but not gonna set a goal...

I'm gonna try 100k, although some of that maybe walking
Good luck every one
