    6/13 - rest day after running and working over the weekend for 10 hours scrubbing the liner of my pool and shop vac'ing all the water out of the bottom, my body said *kitten* no we are not moving when the alarm went off. :smile:

    Decided to decide when the alarm went off if I wanted to take a rest day today. After snooze number 3 I decided yep I need a rest day. :smile:

    Running a 5K with Skip in the morning to raise money for Big Brothers/Big Sisters here in town. I did this last year, it's a small race, but nice flat course around the office park where I work.

    You'll have 6 weeks of my non running humor. Probably, just today of the anesthesia goof, uh unless I have to take valium. I have no idea how it affects me. Fair warning.

    Hoping I can swim in the not too distant future.

    @ceciliaslater I'm glad to hear recovery is moving along nicely!
    @greenolivetree I love days when I get to run with the local wild life. Yesterday there were deer, and I often see foxes, herons, rabbits, turtles, loads of birds...and kitties. But not *kittens*. Because I don't live in *that* sort of neighborhood, lol!
    @Elise4270 Pee races, huh? Do you get a bib and a medal for that!?
    @shanaber Congratulations to your daughter on graduating medical school--that is quite the accomplishment! I hope you have a wonderful visit and restful vacation.

    Today I heard some rumbly thunder so decided that the dreadmill at the gym was the better option for my 3.5 miles. It was boring, but I got it done. :)

    My run today was awful. After a really hard mile-and-a-half at 12:00 min/mile pace (about 1:30-2:00 mins slower per mile than my usual), I walked for a bit before ending up feeling so dizzy that I had to just sit down on the floor for about 5 minutes before I could even stand up. Then I felt fine, so I ran/walked for a bit before running the last mile home. Within about 5 minutes of getting in through the door, I had to run to throw up. No idea what's going on there, I felt OK again afterwards. I'm a bit run down at the moment and incredibly stressed at work and with my masters degree study, so maybe my body has had enough of everything when running is added to the mix. I might have to take a few 'mental health' days off work next week...

    2nd June - 3.53 miles
    4th June - 3.41 miles
    5th June - 7.12 miles
    7th June - 3.33 miles
    9th June- unplanned rest day :(
    11th June - 3.56 miles 5km PB 26:09
    13th June - 8.52 miles
    15th June - 4.08 miles
    17th June - 3.04 miles

    MTD - 36.59/80 miles

    Upcoming races:
    18th Sept - Run Reigate Half Marathon
    2nd Oct - Tonbridge Half Marathon
    30th Oct - River Thames Half Marathon
    9th April 2017 - Brighton Marathon

    @louubelle16 My run today was also awful. I went up at 9 PM and it was still 90 degrees. Holy *kitten* it was hard. Had to stop like 5 times to cool down a bit. I still got to make courage to run shirtless I guess but I don't thing it would have helped much. On a scale of 1-10 I would classify this run as hell

    At least I got eclair :)

    @louubelle16 oh no that is awful, I hope you are feeling better now that you have had a chance to cool down. I think some mental health days are always a good idea.

    @adrianchr92 yummy!

    @louubelle16 Aww, embrace the suck! Haha! It's the hard ones that make the easy ones.

    @AdrianChr92 Alright. I gotta have an eclair now. Shame is, that here in the US they are "long johns" and not true eclairs, least where I am that is- not near a bakery.

    @5BeautifulDays & @greenolivetree "I love days when I get to run with the local wild life. Yesterday there were deer, and I often see foxes, herons, rabbits, turtles, loads of birds...and kitties. But not *kittens*. Because I don't live in *that* sort of neighborhood, lol!" I have equal chance of running into kitties & *kittens* in my neighborhood! I run in a city park that borders a river so I get to see both animal & human "wildlife" :wink:

    @Elise4270 LOL

    @shanaber Congratulations to you & your daughter! That's awesome!

    @skippygirlsmom Good luck to you & Skip tomorrow! That sounds like a good cause to run for.

    @louubelle16 Maybe a bit of a stomach bug? Either way, taking a little time off sounds like a great idea.

    @AdrianChr92 Hooray for eclairs!

    I've been feeling better & making faster progress on my "walk/ runs" than I thought I would (I shouldn't say "walk/ jogs" anymore!)....thinking of taking the plunge & signing up for an end of July 5K...this would be my first race in 3 years...If I do, I will definitely have to celebrate with an eclair afterwards.

    @elise4270 must be where you are, I've never heard them called that. This is what an eclair looks like where I am.

    @cljoe7 thanks - we try to tie races to causes when we can. Sign up for that 5K you are so ready!!

    Good luck to everyone racing this weekend! Try to keep cool and hydrated!

    I have heard both "long johns" and "eclairs." But you know, "a rose by any other name...": no matter what they're called they are delicious. And I have to stop thinking about them or I'll have to go get one, and I don't have calories allotted for one today!

    @Elise4270 Thanks for the encouragement! I think I'm gonna do it. The race I'm thinking of is for PAWS Chicago - - a no-kill animal shelter, and in addition to the 5K race they have a walk/ run for humans & their dogs. I think this sounds like a blast! Pandora would get too stressed around so many strange doggies, but my BF said he might sign up to run with his extra-friendly german shepherd if I do the race.

    I just had to google the difference between eclairs and long johns, since I wasn't sure if there WAS a difference. Apparently, long johns are made from a yeast dough, while eclairs do not have a raising agent in the dough--instead using steam to create a puffy pastry. Learn something new everyday.

    But, in some parts of the US, long johns are usually sold under the eclair name.

    Living in Missouri and Oklahoma, I don't think I've ever seen a true eclair. Mostly just the gas station long john donuts.

    @Elise4270 It was really a selfie taken with a cat :smiley:

    @shanaber Congrats to your daughter!

    @louubelle16 Were you overheated? I really struggled last year with dizziness, chills, nausea. I have been fine this year so far and honestly don't know what's different.

    I just realized I've been confusing eclairs with cream puffs. I don't think I've eaten either an eclair or long John. I'm more of a chocolate covered donut with sprinkles kinda girl.

    My race is in 3 weeks and my knee has really dented my training mileage... not sure if I will even get a 100 miles this month...

    And my vacation is tough...I can drink a lot of alcohol, but I am even impressing myself this trip... not getting many miles, but I'm not thinking about my knee much...lol...

    :( First try at running after a 2 week injury recovery break.
    :s Managed a total of 58 seconds before my Calf told me that it was not ready.
    I went for a 45 minute walk, no discomfort walking but as soon as I try to pick up the pace into a super slow run it lets me know that I need more time :s:'(:/ .
    Looks like its back to the swimming pool. Goal for the month changed from 140km to 14km.
