I've been so crazy over the weekend I'm just getting caught up. Need to go read all the posts.

Saturday Skip and I ran in a local 5K about 250 people. She finished 34 of 250 with a 24:13 1st in her AG. I got my first sub 30 in a while with a 29:44 finishing 108 4th in my AG. She ran with a girl who is younger but runs for another high school and she said slowed her pace for the last 1.5 miles for the girl. But it turned out to be the girls PR and her first time finishing 1st in her AG so it was exciting for them.

It was a beautiful overcast 70 degrees, awesome weather for June in Alabama. The only out of ordinary thing to say that happened to me was I was behind a guy at the water stop and both just slowed down, he took a drink, then threw the rest of the water in my face (and in mine behind him, which was okay). But then he did something no one has ever done to me before, tossed the cup OVER HIS HEAD and hit me in the face with it. Thankfully I had glasses on or it would have hit me in the eye. I got next to him and said "you need to watch where you throw your cups you hit me in the face". Goodness people.

Today's excitement on our run was actually after the run walking our Macy. Afterwards we were walking when we were attacked by a loose pit bull. It got it's jaws around Macy's back and I was hitting it with her leash (she slipped out of her collar) and kicked it and was screaming "I'm being attacked" which got some neighbors out. Luckily a driver coming by got in between us and pit when he backed off a bit and another neighbor scared it off in another direction and we were able to run home. Called animal control and they came out since I knew who owns it and they went to write them a summons. Macy is okay, Skip was a mess. I'm just thankful I was there Skip wouldn't have been able to handle it. Love my one neighbor he was running down his driveway with a gun. He said I heard you screaming I'm being attacked and I was ready LOL I was also thankful that he saw Macy before another neighbor who was walking her Maltese just up ahead of us, if he grabbed that baby the way he grabbed my 70 lbs baby he would have broken its back. Skip went off to gym and I just laid on the bed crying, after the adrenaline rush wore off I realized how bad it could have been or that it could have grabbed Skip...then it would be dead dog. I hate this now I can't walk my dog because I know the dog came out from under it's gate so if it does that once it will do it again. Animal control has been looking for it's owner he said because it's been seen and called in from others in the neighborhood. I've talked to neighbor who owns the dog before, seems like a nice guy. Skip said his middle school boy was caught selling drugs in school. Oh lovely.

UGH! @skippygirlsmom I got chills reading about the dog. I've run into a pit bull before (a couple times) which thankfully was friendly. His name was Max. But it was still concerning that he was getting out. Those people moved, thank goodness. And the cup guy was rude!

@RespectTheKitty and @cljoe7 Sorry about the knee issues :(

No running for me today. I decided to go last night at 8:15. I think our heat advisory Wed-Fri was a blessing in disguise because I found myself thinking yesterday that it wasn't so bad outside, even though it was upper 80s with heat index in the 90s. Just wasn't so bad compared to heat index over 100. LOL So the temp was down to 83 last night with 60% humidity and it was still a very sweaty run but I didn't feel like it was as bad and I made it 4 miles. There was even a little breeze that felt almost cool when I'd turn corners into the breeze and it would hit my sweaty skin :)

When I woke up this morning and saw it was 70 but with 90% humidity, I felt happy I made the choice for a late evening run.

So with the change of doing last evening and then going back to mornings on Tues/Wed (so the plan goes), I'm adding a run and doing 5 days this week instead of 4. I feel like as long as it's hot I'll stay in the 15-20 miles a week range. I don't think I can tolerate any longer runs in the heat. But I am thrilled that so far I'm not experiencing any heat sickness. Also I expect to hit 70 miles despite having lowered my goal to 50 out of heat concerns.

June 1 - 2 mile run because NATIONAL RUNNING DAY
    June 2 - Rest day
    June 3 - 54 min pilates........10k run
    June 4 - 3 mile run
June 5 - 7 miles running with an 8:56 virtual 5k in the middle - Not my all time 5k PR but a PR for this year :)
June 6 - 38 min lower body pilates, stretching and foam rolling
June 7 - 20 min upper body weights, 20 min low impact cardio
    June 8 - Rest day
June 9 - Rest day (I should be working out in the morning before work, but summer has me wanting to sleep in!)
    June 10 - 5k run
    June 11 - 6 miles trail running, 45 min strength/pilates/stretching
    June 12 - 3 mile run
June 13 - 45 min combo workout of moderate cardio and light strength training
    June 14 - 20 min light cardio x2 (AM/PM)
    June 15 - 3 mi run......15 min lower body pilates, 10 min stretching/rolling, 5 min arms
    June 16 - 30 min indoor cardio
    June 17 - 5 mile run
    June 18 - 3.5 mile run, 45 min pilates/strength/stretching
    June 19 - 4 mile run
    June 20 - 30 min indoor cardio A.M.......pilates/strength later

June run goal: 45.8 of 50 miles

I have 299 unread posts, so I don't think I'll be able to get through all of them. I was away at a music festival since Wednesday evening. I got home around 3am this morning, and I'm currently attempting to at least half function at work on less than 2.5 hours of sleep. I don't think it's going so well. Coffee, coffee, coffee. Too bad caffine has little to no affect on my alertness.

There was no running for me this past week, between some obligations, packing, and the festival, but I did walk a good 10 miles every day and was on my feet for between 10 and 12 hours for each of the past four days. I consider it good exercise. I am stiff. I am tired. I will get back into the swing of things after I, hopefully, get some rest today/tonight between the few afternoon/evening meetings I have today throughout the remainder of the day. I'm running on an average of about 4.5 hours of sleep (in a tent) over the past several days. Couple that with all that walking and standing around (in the heat), and I kind of wonder how I am still upright.

Wow, @skippygirlsmom , racing sure brings out the best and worst in people. It was so kind of Skip to help the other runner--and so incredibly rude of the Water Throwing Dude! The dog story is just plain terrifying. Once a dog figures out how to get out of his enclosure, he's really got to be chained up, I think. Pitties can be great dogs, but they need a *lot* of responsible attention. :( My guy is part AmStaff (and a threat-reactive shelter dog) and he's never outside without a human. I think I would need to put him down if he made a habit of leaving our yard because he's just too dangerous. :(

Hey @instantmartian , did you go to Firefly? I've wanted to do that one for a few years but was thinking I might be a little out of the age demographic. I need to convince one of my teens to go with me so I won't be embarrassed, lol.

Today was a beautiful wonderful day for a stinky run. My knees are still tight and giving me trouble. They feel achy and stiff. I managed 4.5 miles on the lake trail, but tomorrow I'm just going to do a couple treadmill miles after PT.

Doggie update - I talked to animal control and they talked to the owner. He was told to keep it on his property, like you said @5beautifuldays now that he knows how to get out he will continue to get out (just like the past weeks). So my only option is this.... every time I see the dog to call the sheriff's department and then start a "dog at large" case, then take that case to the warrant magistrate and have a warrant put out for the owners arrest. I said to her "really so he can kill me in my sleep?". So now I have a kid who is scared to walk or run on her route and I can't walk my dog around a neighborhood that I pay taxes to live in while this rent paying non tax paying jack off has a dog that wants to kill my dog. Her other advice...carry a gun and use it. God Bless the South.

Crazy that the one attack doesn't warrant putting the dog down or relocating it.

@skippygirlsmom I'm so sorry to hear about what happened! If that had happened to me, there's about a 30% chance that dog would have died of acute lead poisoning right on the spot!

People who do't control their dogs are as much of a menace as the dogs themselves! I'm so glad all ya'all are OK!

I'll take care of this little problem one way or another. I won't have my child afraid to walk around her own neighborhood because of this dog.

Wish I had the energy to run today but no go....I walked the treadmill. Better than nothing g they say. I feel like i'm in a funk from just eating extra over the weekend...I don't want to undo my progress. Seems like when people start to notice my weight loss is when I start to mess up and slack off.

2.2 miles today - done in the evening when the sun was low enough to make it bearable. Tomorrow is supposed to be significantly cooler. I can't wait.

I'm setting my weekly goal at 22 miles this week.

    June goal
