I am 5'1 (25 years) and started around 160lbs. Having an initial goal of dropping weight is definitely the easiest way to get started. I think for me, as I learnt more about the process and my preferences, I was able to gauge what was best for my lifestyle and energy levels.
Find something that you can keep up consistently and enjoy, I find your goals will evolve (eg. instead of losing weight, you'll start wanting to be stronger or gain more endurance - with these these things, sometimes a number isn't the most important thing).
Whatever you choose to do, keep at it!2 -
cassidyjd626 wrote: »Love seeing how different weight looks on shorter girls! I'm 23 & 5'2"/3" with two kids. My first photo below was my highest weight, 225 in April 2014. I started working out and lost some weight, but ended up giving up within about 6 months, so I gained it all back.
I started working out and eating healthy again in September 2015, around 215 lbs (no pic). It took me until the beginning of November to even drop 15 lbs (my first weight goal) which is pic #2.
Pic #3 was around 50 lbs lost, so another mile marker for me!
Pic #4 was me a couple weeks ago. I'm down a little bit more from that even, so in total I'm down 70 lbs since September right now!
I'm hoping to lose another 20- 25 lbs and then just tighten up all of my loose skin. I eat high protein, no pop/junk, do cardio & lifting and drink a lot of water (used to shoot for 64 oz a day, but now I'm shooting for a gallon a day).
You are the nearest to me in starting weight. I've lost 36 lbs so far and every day I look in the mirror and wonder what I will look like. I've really feared I'd lose everywhere except my belly!!!! And be a really strange shape lol silly huh? But after seeing your pics, I feel hopeful again. You look great and I would be very happy if.... No... WHEN i look like your after pic. Thank you and thank everyone else who has posted for posting your before and afters!!!!9 -

I love this thread. I'm 5'2" and started at 185lbs. I've only been in it for a couple weeks but I'm down to 179. I've never been this heavy and very determined to get back to "me".
I love seeing all the success in this thread, very inspirational.6 -

Love this thread! It did start a long time ago. I am happy to see someone posted in July 2016, wanted to give it a bump.
I started May 1st 2016 @ 283, today I am 211. 72 lbs gone.
I originally thought I would be content once I reached 180 - no not thin and yes still considered obese, however, I have been 100++ lbs overweight my whole life. Now I believe I can achieve 160 and feel my best.
Besides being hypothyroid and having PCOS all other health marks have been met and were before I started the diet. My Blood Pressure would get "high" 150/100 or so whenever I had a really bad long lasting cold. Other than that, Blood Pressure has always been within normal limits. Cholesterol also within limits - good cholesterol has always been a bit low. Although I have PCOS I am not insulin resistant or ever had high blood sugars, occasionally I have has low blood sugar drops (also pre diet) go figure!
I plan on taking 6 month pics closer to Nov 1st and will post then!
Thanks to all who have already posted. Again - great thread!!10 -

I'm 5 ft. I started at 130 and now I'm 119, 4 pounds away from my goal weight. My lowest was 105 but I don't think with exercise that I would look ok anymore at 105. I might reach 115 and go down to 110.9

Hi, I am 5ft 1 with starting weight of 153lbs, I want to get to 120lbs as I feel that is probably the most achievable for me to be able to maintain and ideally would like to get there by April, not sure how realistic that is. Looking through the pics for inspiration. If anyone wants to buddy up for support, that would be great!3

5'2". Started this journey years ago weighing around 155 pounds, dropped 50 pounds, gained a little bit of that back in muscle though. I'm currently around 106 lbs. up and down a few pounds because I'm a runner and I have a busy work schedule so eating enough calories in a day has become a challenge.
Red dress pic was taken in 2012 I think, this was after I had lost maybe 10-15 pounds.
Most current picture was taken a few weeks ago.

5'1. I had a bad run with an eating disorder about 4 years ago but hopped on the fitness wagon in late 2013. It took me a while to figure out that excessive cardio was not the healthiest route, and I've been lifting weights seriously for maybe a year now. I'm just starting to see some baby abs and I love it

5"1 27 yr size 10 The first picture was 1 1/2 ago weigh 178 the second picture was about a month ago weighing 170. Although I have not loss a lot of weight I have lost a lot of fat and have really been working on trying not to let the number define me or get to me. I would like to loose about 15 more pounds but I'm ok with slow and steady and learning to love myself at any size. I also love the feeling strong and capable of doing anything I set my mind on.

I am 5'2 and a mom of 2. My starting weight was 173 lbs. I lost 17 lbs in 5 weeks with MFP. A lot was going on in my life and I went back to my unhealthy eating habits. That was three years ago. I piled most of it back and I was 160 lbs when I checked two weeks ago and decided to come back to MFP. As of today I am at 153.4 lbs. my goal weight is 120 lbs (ish).
Will post picture after I lose some more
I have a question though. Some of you look amazing and way lighter in their 150s. I look too bulky. Does anyone else has that issue?5
