    I've been a bit quiet in the June challenge, but will come back fighting. I have a trail race in the middle of the month so am gearing up for that. My walking miles challenge is 80 miles, and I need to get back on the bike so another 40 for that.

    Spent the weekend camping in darkest Somerset with a load of dancing friends. Only one person fell in the river (trying to catch a frisbee), two chairs were broken, we didn't set fire to the woods, and rescued two baby bats which are now in the care of a local batwoman. Much beer, cider and wine was drunk, and I am now planning on eating nothing but vegetables for the rest of the week to make up for the BBQ.

    12 miles walked/ran this month so far.

    My kind of camping, lol.

    4 July: just some walking, the planned cycle ride went mush along with my back tyre..
    5: lots of walking today (including taking bike to repair shop, lazy me)

    350 cals burned or more: 2 out of 5 (27 cumulative total towards my 100 target).
    Atleast over 30 mins: 3
    Lazy/rest days: 0

    Welcome Dawn - sorry I dont 'do' MFP friends anymore, but this is a supportive thread. No idea what a bowflex is - i am guessing more crosstrainer than Robin Hood !

    And hi Girlina - that sounds a fun w/e!

    7/1= 0.26 miles in 10 minutes
    7/5 = 0.42 miles in 16 minutes

    I was supposed to walk yesterday, but had to work AND do festivities, didn't get a chance.
    Today I remembered to use my walker and oxygen, so that's why I lasted a little longer. But gosh, lugging those things from the porch to the street is practically a workout in itself LOL

    I've had a run-in with food poisoning on the weekend, and then an allergic reaction to a course of antibiotics my dr put me on (not related to the food poisoning). These things have left me feeling quite weak and lethargic. In fact, for several hours yesterday my fingers on both hands went numb while the palms were cramping and very painful ... and my tongue went numb as well. That was a little bit alarming!

    But today I feel some better. :)

    It was only a few day's worth, and as soon as my fingers and tongue went numb, I decided not to finish the last bit. Unfortunately, this is the third type of antibiotics I've had allergic reactions to. Fortunately, I rarely need them, but it is still a little bit of a concern.

    Glad you are not takimg them anymore machka.

    I got really sick 2 years ago - and it might have been mirena coil reaction, infections, or reactions to the anti biotics. Or the fact i was under a huge amount if sttess.. Or a mix. I found out i was reacting to one at the time - but another i was on at the time i realised makes me very illl when i took it again at later date.

    I lost my job. Am still struggling with Chronic fatgue - still need best rest every afternoon. But also still getting better! Most of the time i feel fine - but I just cant keep it going... Part of the reason for doing the regular excercise is to support my recovery. (And so i get to ear cake!)

    I dont know what made me so ill - but anti biotic reactions scare me.

    Probably all way to much info... But at leaat i know how scarey an anti bio reaction can feel and ca offer genuine sympathy here. And yes, take care...

    Hope u feel fighting fit soon!

    I'm glad you're starting to feel better, and I hope your recovery continues.

    A couple years ago, I was put on an antibiotic (which I had used many times before without incident) for a bronchial infection. It should have cleared it up nicely in a few days. Only, it didn't. I started to get worse.

    My husband took me to the local walk-in clinic, and the Dr checked me over and then extended my prescription.

    A couple days later, I broke out into this massive rash all over my legs.

    My husband took me to the walk-in clinic and the Dr changed my prescription to something slightly different.

    The rash spread all over my entire body and I was fighting to breathe.

    My husband took me to the walk-in clinic and the Dr was a bit horrified! He changed my prescription to something entirely different, put me on asthma medication and antihistamines, and told me never to take anything remotely related to penicillin again.

    So this one was definitely not penicillin, but apparently I can't take it either. There was no rash this time, but I was itchy all over starting on Day 2 and had such a headache and stiff neck ... and then the numb extremities started up ...

    Started training for a mini-triathlon. I way, Way, WAY! overdid it at the beginning of the month. I am backing off of that pace now. The mini-triathlon that is still open to enrollment (and is nearby) is 11 months away. The "nearby" one in September is booked solid, has 1500 entrants (I had no idea there were this many crazy people!), and no more can get on the waiting list. So no reason to push myself as hard as the beginning of the month.

    JULY 2016 – Running/Cycling
    ==========
    01 - 3.10 run & 15.4 cycle
    04 - 3.66 run & 14.72 cycle
    05 - 14.24 cycle
    06 - 4.42 run
    ==========
    Total = 55.54 total miles

    Nice goal @Tweaking_Time - someday I hope to do a triathlon, but I'm working on the running bit first - just done a mad 10k evening run in the woods.

    What are the distances for your race? I've been advised to avoid a super-sprint as they actually tend to be super fast and go for a sprint triathlon as the first.

    9 July - fun cycle ride after the Wimbledon ladies final... Up to near Tower Bridge (pub on river) the direct way, then back home mainly along the Thames.

    350 cals burned or more: 5 out of 9 (29 cumulative total towards my 100 target).
    Atleast over 30 mins: 3
    Lazy/rest days: 1

    (but just had a v nice dinner , lots of wine, and a fair few treats on the cycle ride - so doubt it was a deficit day, even if it was good for the heart!)
