I use ACV, garlic and honey to get over strep throat without getting an RX. I also like to drink grapefruit before a meal because it makes digestion better.
They may have some health benefits, but it will not help you to lose weight quicker or burn fat. You need a calorie deficit for that.
Which toxins are you referencing?2 -

It's a very slow process, helps with hunger but after a month I started get mouth ulcers.1 -

Just the fact you linked a website that has a whole tab designated for detoxes and cleanses should be your first clue...
Then take into consideration that this website is run by a company trying to sell you some woo-tiful products...
Then consider that this guy who writes the website has a million certifications in everything from chiropractor to naturopath to herbalist...
And I'm not listening to a word you're saying.8 -

Well that's one way to cut back on how much you eat!
In all seriousness, I'm sorry that happened to you.2 -

It's not about being lazy. It's about evaluating your sources to determine if you have something worthy of my attention. When someone tells me to look it up myself, that's a red flag that they are wasting my time and don't have a valid argument to defend.9 -

I fixed it for you. She's a lost cause. She *believes* what she reads on the Intarwebz because INTARWEBZ!!!
Seriously, websites that sell you things aren't going to tell you the truth. They're going to SELL you their version of the truth.5 -

Every weight loss study that looks into grapefruit as a weight loss benefit shows nominal results. How nominal? 1-3lbs additional weight loss in a 3 month study.
All participants taking grapefruit and gained the added (possible) improved weight loss gained it all back after stopping the grapefruit treatment.
So...enjoy that grapefruit for the rest of your life.0 -
Did I say that anything about weight loss? No, I said it flushes the liver of fat and toxins.JosetteandBill wrote: »Okay. It really is a not hard to look something up.

lol is this for real? You all are something else. Read them... It is there. Bad cholesterol is a toxin, pesticides are a toxin.htimpaired wrote: »Where in any of those studies does it mention da toxinz?

toxin: a poisonous substance that is a specific product of the metabolic activities of a living organism and is usually very unstable, notably toxic when introduced into the tissues, and typically capable of inducing antibody formation
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/toxin
Not seeing how cholesterol is a toxin. Pesticides, yes. But if you're injesting pesticides at a toxic level, you need more than grapejuice to take care of that.6 -

My point Josette, is that it doesn't do anything more than drinking a bunch of lemon juice would. Same thing. It's a diuretic which helps flush everything out - with the water it flushes out. Because *WATER FLUSHES OUT TOXINS*
Let me make that clear to you - GRAPEFRUIT JUICE DOES NOTHING BUT ENCOURAGE THE FLUSHING OF WATER FROM YOUR SYSTEM. THE WATER FLUSHES OUT TOXINS.
So, drink plenty of water - same effect.
Take a water pill from your doctor - same effect.
Drink lemonade - same effect.
Do you get it yet? It is a diuretic with vitamins. That's all it is.
It is not the holy grail of fruit. It is not a wonder drug, not a miracle cure.
It will not remove warts, prevent stillbirth nor will it make the opposite sex more attracted to you.
It will make you pee more. With vitamins!
I'm done. Somebody else take over and let me know when she's been properly exorcised of the "magic toxin extractor" demons.10 -
I will enjoy my grapefruit (now that I am off blood pressure medicine) my apple cider (in my salad dressing) and my honey (drizzled over pancakes) but never together like this. Ick. Just ick.
No elixir can eliminate imaginary toxins. Or maybe it can; like a magician's trick or a charlatan's game.4 -

I read all of those. The only one that even mentions the liver detox is the last link, which is a blog.
Fun fact: something being published on a blog by someone who says they're a doctor doesn't make it proven fact!
There have been plenty of studies linking grapefruit with weight loss, but most acknowledge that eating a diet high in fiber and water is the benefit of grapefruit, along with many other fruits and veggies. And of course it has health benefits, again due to water, fiber, and vitamins, which are present in many fruits & veggies. But detoxing the liver is woo, it is a silly thing that people trying to create a tribe they can sell stuff to put out there.6
