I have been (unsuccessfully) trying to talk hubs into taking dance lessons with me. It would be fun and romantic, whilst (maybe) piquing his interest into incorporating some fitness into his life, too! I need him to be healthy...I plan on keeping him around for a long time!2

Dancing is fun. I can't get my husband to take classes. But, he does enjoy going out dancing with me. And he has suggested I choreograph a routine for us to try (I'm a professional dancer). I was thinking it too. And he has some ideas. It would be fun. But, classes are helpful as well. They teach steps and moves to incorporate. But, I understand. I prefer freestyle dancing as well. But classes give a technical base plus new ideas to draw from.0 -
Doing laundry this morning & realize that even though my husband has a decent amount of clothing, I just rewash the same shirts, shorts, etc over & over again! Does he just not go any deeper into the closet? If I rearranged the clothes would he ho looking for those items? Shine some light here, husbands!
P.S...no wonder he thinks I own so many clothes; I wear different things all of the time! In actuality, we are pretty well neck and neck!1 -
Speaking for myself I tend to gravitate toward the clothing in which I believe I look the best. Other items that do not give me the same feeling (even though I may have purchased them myself) are simply not my "go to" pieces so I leave them hanging.
There may be some convenience factor that prevents your husband from digging deeper or he may simply not like to break from routine as much as you. It may be an interesting experiment to rearrange his things and see what his response is.
I have also caught myself in the past absentmindedly choosing something to wear because my mind was already engaged in thinking about what the day would bring at work and I didn't want to stop that train of thought long enough to think through the choice of clothing. It wasn't that I viewed choosing something different to wear as formidable more than what I wore was of much less consequence than the battle I was about to enter at my job.
So there you go, one husband's confession on why guys may seem unimaginative in terms of our clothing. I guess that's one advantage to wearing a uniform right?1 -
Well, we live all over the house, except for the guest rooms upstairs, so they are the only truly special, set apart rooms. As far as the pillows, too many, to me, looks just way too silly.
Your talk about men's clothes remind me of when my husband and I first got married, and I looked in his closet. It was all polyester (seriously!) and all of his clothes were too small! His first wife was a friend, and I knew she tended toward polyester and frills, which are anathema to me!! But since my husband and I lived a state apart before marrying (we'd known each other since we were very young teens), I was completely unprepared for what was in his closet. I didn't go out and buy him clothes, but I suggested the first store and went with him while he chose his own new clothes. The main thing I had to say (since stores didn't sell polyester anymore) was, "No, that is too small for you." He got it almost immediately. Since then, I've been able to just sit back and see him in his clothing. He's a good dresser now. I admit, however, that I wish he would occasionally wear a suit.1 -
I buy my husband new shirts as presents. Usually just soft cotton shirts. I tend to wear a lot of the same clothes on a daily basis. But I also dress fun. Just depends on what's going on.1

Does divorced or pending divorce count?1

1/2 the solution to any problem is realizing there IS a problem Project6... the Golden rule, and being courteous is all it takes really... be respectful, and exercise gratitude. Or not... the world you see through your eyes is by your creation... if you think it needs improvement THAT is your responsibility.1

I'm late, but I was going to reply "I never heard of decorative rooms", but then after I got to the end of the thread I realized that my guest room would be the equivalent, I suppose, as I chose all the paint colors, décor, etc. and I don't allow any kids or dogs in there.
I just remember as a kid always having to peel my short clad, sweaty-legged self off of old folks couches, as they always had them covered in plastic.3 -
The home in which I grew up was VERY humble, there was 4 rooms in which my parents raised 4 children. It had a tiny kitchen, a tiny living room and two tiny bedrooms. Needless to say there was no room for "decorative" anything and if my Mom had anything of value to her it most likely was kept stuffed in the back of a drawer and taken out only when us kids where sound asleep. lol To this day I am not certain how she kept her sanity.3

I think a guest room is different from having one small junky living room and a big perfect one that no one can go into except maybe once a year with special visitors. A guest room is a nice idea for having visitors. But, if a person has a big, overall nice home then I guess a special events room can make sense. I would like to have my own living room now. And I can lift weights, watch movies, dance, read, whatever. And no kid's stuff. My husband can join me in the room as well.0

I had fun decorating the guest rooms. Rather, I decorated the one mainly for young people and started decorating the one for adults. They are even named!
The young people's guest room is named "The Patriot's Room," and it's all red, white, and blue. The tchotchkes there are flags and such. it has two single beds.
The other guest room is "The Garden," and . . . well, what it has if obvious! . It has a king-size bed and wicker.1 -
Married for 37 years. To the same person. Wont ever divorce - too much paperwork and we are both pretty lazy. And frugal (he's cheap!) But its worked out so far - so what the hell - in for another year.7

Didn't realize all this was going on here at MFP.

I am curious @cross2bear do you mind sharing what the most challenging time has been for you in your marriage so far? And please don't say the first 37 years1 -

Yeah, I grew up on low income housing and what-not. Definitely no decorative rooms. But, we had something called "a junk drawer" in the kitchen. It just had random odds and ends in it.3 -

My son had me watch About Time with him. I really loved it! Plus it brought up a lot of conversation between us and that was even better. I thought all the plot twists kept the movie moving and the ending was just emotionally gut wrenching. I enjoyed the portrayal of a typical mildly dysfunctional family made the "gift" very real.
Can you share the plot of Sleeping with Other People without spoiling the ending?1 -

We have a 'hotel' like that in Reno; it's called the Fantasy Inn. It has 'The Jungle', 'The Gladiator', etc. themed rooms for....those special occasions....haha
ETA: I've never been there (matter of fact I think they closed down for a porn/video-taping fiasco), that kind of place makes me want to soak in scalding hot water and drown my sorrows of STI anxiety in a bottle of tequila.4 -

It's about two people that lose their virginity to each other in college (late bloomers). Go their seperate ways and go through their own dysfunction. Run into each other at a sex and love addiction meeting a little over a decade later. It's about their friendship and healing from their dysfunction. But, lighthearted.1 -

Japan has sex hotels that have themed rooms. They are very popular over there.
