Did an hour of a downloadable spinning DVD. When I do spinning, I always wear my heartrate monitor. I was very glad to see that my heartrate came down as fast as it did. The plan for tomorrow is to do a bosu DVD.

Joyce - take care of yourself. I write almost everything medical down in my calendar. I didn't realize that I can deduct mileage for medical-related things! Thanks for telling me. I'll check with Vince to see if I can. If so, you can bet that I'll take advantage of that. Hey, when Jess has something to be donated, she gives it to me to donate. She knows that she wouldn't get a deduction but we would. She's so thoughtful that way. Now if she'd just clean out her room here. Honestly, I'm starting to have trouble getting around her bed to make it. And I know that if I ask her to do it, it won't get done unless I take the sheets off every time she's here and wash them.

I've been trying the kettlebells and don't feel any more sore from them than I do from when I do a deadlift with either the free weights or the barbell. Mary - why????

Lenora - Unfortunately, Jess likes her fried foods also. Along with her pasta. Wish she'd develop a taste for the shirataki noodles. I hope your dnl takes your advice. Very wise. How very sad for your dnl#2. Another thing Jess taught me to stop bleeding for pets is to put a piece of bread on it.

Maureen - welcome! We all stumble. The important thing is to get back up. Good for you not gaining back all your weight!

Mary - hope you feel better now. Hope your niece helped you stop feeling guilty. My mother always had a miscarriage until she had me. I'm thinking that the reason for them was that she was probably negative and my blood type is negative. The first pregnancy was probably a natural miscarriage but back then they didn't know about RhoGam. So her body probably made antibodies but since I'm negative also that's probably why I wasn't a miscarriage. I'm not saying that your niece is negative. But that it might have been mother nature's way of aborting a baby who would have had problems growing up -- who knows. In any event, you should NOT blame yourself.

Wow! Just talked to Vince. He's been taking the mileage for medical procedures for years off our taxes. Never knew that

Exercised then went to Aldi's. Gawd does that feel good. We're supposed to go to lunch with the Newcomers. I already know that I'm going to have a crab cake and vegetable medley in place of the french fries. Water to drink

    Carol - safe travels!

Charleen - congratulations!!! Your quilt is stunning, so I'm not surprised at all the ribbons.

Re it was at a grocery store where you make your own salad and then pay. Hew was behind me in line.

Vicki liked you DH act of kindness.

    Charleen gorgeous quilt.

Mosquitoes getting bad at dusk now. Even with bug repellent I can only be out there a short while.Yesterday we had our old wall mounted air conditioner replace with a new one. It was cheaper to replace it than get a window or to plaster the hole. We put it to use immediately because of the humidity. We did it for less than $1000. To plaster the hole $2000, a new window at least $1500.

Well, this morning was tennis day, and my legs wouldn't RUN.... A strange feeling when I would go for a ball, and I want to get there, but my legs are so sore, and thighs tight, it was ..."Nope you are not gonna run". I had fun though, just trying to make the best of it, and working on my form from the waist UP. It was frustrating the snot out of the teenager because I was making some great backhand and strong forehand strokes.

Husband took me out to eat for lunch, and man there is ALOT of tourists here! It's weird to live in an area where tourism is the main thing during the summer. That is when you crave fall and winter, because its just the core of the coasties. The die hards! So we went to "Wet Dog Brewery" but it was too crowded, so then we walked down the way to "Buoy Beer" Brewery. I had an order of Rockfish and chips. Melted in my mouth.... Then I had Buoy Beers NW Red ale....See I can be really crafty! If its craft beer that is.. lol! We then went to the arcade, and I lost some quarters! Came home and made some chocolate chip cookies. I have had 2 and they were AWESOME.... Just made French Dips for the son and husband. Still fuzzy from that one beer. Such a lightweight... Ah well, I am not a cheap date, just economical...

Not sure about tomorrow if I will be going to my Deep Water aerobic class, might just sit in the hot tub with a container of coffee...

Be well all, I will do better tomorrow, I promise!

Re, I took my girls swimming today, and it being Iowa (one of the fattest states in the country) there were a lot of really big women there. And they all looked lovely in really nice swimdresses or swim shorts and tankinis or traditional swim suits. I even saw one woman wearing swim leggings and a swim tee. There are so many more options than there used to be. So go find yourself a really pretty swim outfit and get in the swim of things! I have a tankini and regular briefs. Because my "girls" are so huge from getting fat, the top is a 26 (I HATE wearing anything form fitting so I went larger to have some looseness around the midriff). And my bottoms are a size 18 that are loose on me. That wasn't an option years ago! You may need to shop online to find just what you want. That is how I found mine.

    Hi BarbieCat,

Yes, i can see your ticker. The numbers are obscured tho. I tried to add a ticker yesterday and MFP said it was referring the problem to Tech Support. Wha?

    Thanx,

Michele - thanks for the support! I did talk to my niece about going to the doctor and getting checked for some type of genetic issue between the two of them including the blood type like you were referring to. She agreed that after they are married that is one of the first things she will do. She is 35 years old and would like to have a child soon.

Becca- I understand completely about all the tourists in the area. We have about 1000 people in the winter and over 10,000 in the summer. That's a huge difference! You're making me drool over the chocolate chip cookies!

Margaret - I totally agree with you about those mosquitoes! We were virtually mosquito free until we had that constant rain a couple weeks ago. Now no matter what time of day I am out I am getting attacked!

Michele, it is part of the medical deductions. My brother in law who is a tax accoutant is very specific about the way he does his. He has this notebook and records odometer when he starts out to go somewhere and then odometer when he gets there. We have a record of how many miles it is to each office, pharmacy, even the medical supply place we get Charlie's supplies. I have my flip calander in front of me with everything medical highlighted in yellow and count how many times we were at Dr. C, Dr. P, Dr. S, Dr. Sch, pharmacy, medical supply, etc. Then I just multiply how many times by the miles. I think it's something like 2.2 cents a mile you can take off. My system works the same in the end, I just don't have it as organized. Also everything medical goes in a box. It's just a box, no files, just a box. Every January I empty the box and stack them in their own files, pharmacy bills, doctor, hospital, etc. This year I have added a second box, state taxes. last year I filled out the provided formula to estimate how much state taxes we paid. It said we paid $200. So that's what I put on the tax form. By saving my receipts I can now see how much. I didn't start this until March and I already have slightly over $200 in state taxes. I do that by just throwing receipts in the box. Every so often I take them all out and adding the tax up. I just put that amount on a piece of paper which I put back in the box. I have all the receipts in one of my many 'green bags'. If we are ever audited the tax man is very welcome to add those up individually. So I take that piece of paper I had a total on and add another months total. By DEcember I will have the years total.

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .

    Good Evening Ladies,

Mary, I’m sorry about your niece but you know that it’s not your fault.

Barbie, how wonderful that Jake can drive now and leave you at home “alone”. 

Joyce, with what you have been through you deserve to be tired. Please rest up and take care of yourself. ((((Hugs))))

Katla, sorry you are sore from the kettle bell but do enjoy that massage.

Carey, how wonderful that your dad can still do that at his age. I hope we are all so lucky. Sorry about your headaches. Is the cpap causing them?

Maureen, welcome. This is a great place for support and information so come often. If you lost 22 pounds in 6 weeks, I’d agree that it was too fast. This is a life journey and not a sprint. I’m sure you didn’t gain it that fast. Please be patient and healthy and you will get there.

Traci, as I read your post that you are often not wanting to go home and log on the computer, it occurred to me that you can’t be logging your food daily. I’m glad to see that is one of your goals. You can do this, my friend.

Pip, you always make me smile. “Ex-lax”

Charleen, I hate that you are the last to know but I wouldn’t be surprised if that beautiful quilt got a ribbon. Do let us know. (later) congrats-smiley-emoticon.gif clapping-smiley-emoticon.gif

Marcelyn, so glad your relative listened to reason about getting a loan. I hate seeing my friends in debt when it’s not necessary.

VickiNE, thanks for the clarification on your DSS. We all feel that way about all our kids I think, in that we claim them sometimes and sometimes not. Lol How sweet of your DH to pay for the lady at the store.

Heather, sorry to hear about the case for your DH’s family. I know everyone involved would like it to be resolved.

CarolGA, glad the traffic wasn’t bad for you. Bummer on the coke mess.

Joyce, I really hate hearing that you are that tired and worn out. Please take it easy until your stress test!!! ((((Hugs))))

MicheleNC, I was happy to see your post and no mention of flooding. We had some hard rain last night and this morning on the weather, they said that north of Charlotte they had a flash flood. I think it was 7” in a short period of time but they didn’t say exactly where.

Margaret, that is crazy that it would cost that much to plaster the hole or get a new window. The AC will come in handy.

pretty-pink-welcome-smiley-emoticon.gifto any Newbies that I missed. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.

We had a cold front pass through last night and what started out as a very overcast day turned out to be beautiful. The temps never got out of the 80’s and the sky was beautiful. DH took me out to dinner at one of the restaurants down in the Marsh where there are a ton of bars and restaurants. I had flounder and it was yummy.
Sending love and good thoughts to all of you and I hope you all have a Happy and Healthy Day! rainbow-smiley-emoticon.gif

    Words I live by:
Savor. I have to slow down and savor every bite.
    and
Opportunity. Each day offers new opportunities for good health and happiness if we just look for them and choose them.

DJ- do you have a lot of tourists there at this time of year? We had a cold front pass through last night. It brought sever wether that knocked over Babe the Blue Ox in a nearby city.

Pip: It's amazin' what the brain will translate ;)

Lenora: Only been using the c-pap for about 1.5 weeks. The sleep place says it will take about 2 months to get used to it. The wisp mask puts too much pressure on my many times broken nose (fastball can be dangerous). The new nasal pillows mask seems to be working better.

Re: Keeping my fingers crossed for net zero!

Joyce: Take care of you...hugs and prayers on their way!

Charleen: Congratulations on your quilt! Well deserved!

    Have a good night friends,

Charlene - Wonderful! I know you don't do it for the medals, but it's always nice to get one! :flowerforyou:
I was so amazed by your quilt that I showed it to DH. He thought it was incredible and then told me that his partner who died of cancer in 2000 made a lovely quilt once. That's something I didn't know about her!

DJ and Mary - This case in his family is really terrible for everyone. I woke up this morning, to my phone alarm, in the middle of a nightmare about it. One of the worst things is that he and his sister have different perspectives on it and, though they have agreed to differ, it can't help but come between them a bit. I and he talked it over this morning (again! ) and that meant we were late getting to our machines and he was rushed for his cricket. The extended family are suffering the most, not us directly. Some kind of conclusion would be welcome as it has been going on since February. The ripples spread everywhere. :'( Ugh!

Going to have our Dover Sole tonight that we have been saving in the freezer. There are some runner beans in the garden and I will mix a bit of frozen spinach with half fat creme fraiche for a "wet" element. I always like to have a wet, or damp element on the plate if the main ingredient is dry. Salsa or sauce, gravy or dressing. These days I do monitor the fat content of the wet element. My favourite things in all the world are homemade mayonnaise and hollandaise sauce. I could eat a whole jug full, but I have I have them so rarely and in such small quantities that they are not a problem. I do have rouille with my fish soup once in a while.

We will share a nice bottle of white wine. Glad I've done 600 cals exercise today! Might throw a kettlebell around this pm to allow me a few more cals. :*;)

I haven't forgotten that I comitted to doing some of my memoir today. Will turn on my #$÷×+ laptop in a minute.

Mary - I speak pretty good French and reasonable Spanish, but I am certainly not fluent in either. I can make a stab at very basic German now and intend to finish the Duolingo and I have picked up a smattering of Italian and Portuguese from holiday phrase books, though I would have to revise them. I did finish the Norwegian course, but I think I have forgotten it all already. No doubt it would come back if I applied myself. My Spanish had got very rusty from disuse, but that is now much improved. I am a great believer in doing a little every day, a bit like exercise or dieting. Good habits bring rewards.

Love to all. Heather UK xxxxxxx

Can't believe it's August, but it surely is. DD works in a grade school & goes back to work next wk. Summer went so fast,Fall has to be lurking, still of few wks of high temps to "enjoy"..or sweat thru!

Had Dr appt yest...have lost 2 pds since last check up.Not much to report weight wise. Just keeping on causes me
to lose s-l-o-w-l-y. But surely not setting any records.

Loving youngest DD living closer to us in NC.They have been here twice, once for a wk & we went there with other DD & SIL.We enjoy spending time together. Our only Grdaughter will visit the last of the month.

Bedtime for me.Wishing good health for all. Pat

petting-poodle-smiley-emoticon.gif I am so grateful that Jake has been cleared to take the dogs on short walks. Yesterday I had dance class in the morning and dance practice for the county fair in the afternoon. Today I teach the line dance class in the morning and go directly to the line dance party and potluck lunch after class, Having to walk the dogs in the middle of the day would be a challenge. I had the car all day yesterday and will have it all day today so even though he's cleared to drive, he has no car to drive.

Happy Friday everyone. We've been blessed with beautiful weather this week and our DD is away for a fun weekend in Brooklyn, so just the two of us--good practice for us!!
The weight gain trend is halted for me (I think) I am giving myself another day before I step on the scale but am learning about maintenance and accepting it as a fluid/flexible state not a failure. Usually I give up just because I am moving away from the goal weight.
I have never been in maintenance for a long time, a few months or a season and then I yo yo back up --- not this time folks. I am in this for the long haul and that means being accepting and keep logging, moving and checking in! o:)

Congrats on your winning quilt absolutely beautiful!

Good morning, ladies! Working from home today so I can help MIL and go check out a wedding venue with DD and DFutureS and DH early after I am off work. I've been on plan for the week, but the dreaded weekend is upon me. I love weekends, but they don't help my healthier eating lifestyle. I'm hoping that the weekend won't take me off course as it usually finds a way to do. I truly want this to be a lifestyle change, and I can't do that if I make excuses for going off plan during the weekend. So...no excuses. I'm going to log everything and try to have healthy options for me when the rest of the house eats pizza, chips, cakes and ice cream all weekend (slight exaggeration). My kids have my husband's metabolism...tall and really lean/thin no matter what they eat. Then there's me.

    Have a great Friday!
