I'm hopefully going to the renaissance faire this weekend and part of me is mad because it won't be here in time and will it really count....

I no longer give a woot about the color - fit and function over rides fashion.

Absolutely. I wish my wife would have the same attitude. She likes to buy a running shoe based on how it looks and matches her yoga pants. She hasn't run a lick in the 17 years we've been married and I'm always surprised when she picks out a highly structured shoe because it's pretty. I'm like, you weigh 90 LBS soaking wet, you don't need a $160 pair of supportive shoes. Fortunately she only buys a pair every other year or so I can't complain too much, since I'm on pair #4 this year.

ha ha Skip is the fashion princess. She likes her top and running shorts to match perfect, same with shoes and socks. At first the running shoes she had were every color under the sun so life was good. Then she switched and had to get black (BTW she REFUSES to wear black in a race) and I thought rut ruh. I said oh black and she said "Momma it's about the fit not the color" I was like who is this person. Her coach now makes them wear a certain practice gear, she hates it because she likes what she likes, but she sucks it up. Track the color was gray, XC it's now cardinal, he's going to go to white next season. She told him if he goes to black she'll refuse to wear it, unless he let's her wear pink shorts LOL He was going to go to black next year but told her he would wait for her to graduate first. Gotta love the need for fashion.

Hope it's not too late for me to join! This month kicks off my official half marathon training! Can't wait to log those miles away and hopefully work up to a faster pace before race day in November.

@skippygirlsmom - I loved that little cute dog story! So sweet!
@ohhim - you remembered your laptop this time? Jealous of the temps! I'm so over the heat in Orlando, although, this morning it was slightly cooler. But it was a fluke.
@MobyCarp - Thanks for sharing the story of the guy who had to walk at the end. (and all that heart rate stuff). Going to share it to my daughter. She is training for her first M and had something very similar happen last week. She had to walk 1.5 miles home. I don't push myself hard enough to have that happen.
@Elise4270 - yes put on your Garmin for the trash at the curb! As I have already said, I can't WAIT to see you are running again.

Got my weight lifting in! Yay! One hamstring is very tight - so I am going to really focus on stretching and foam rolling again. I got lazy with stretching/foam rolling the last few months and it shows.

    8/1 - 5.1 miles
    8/2 - 4.6 miles with intervals
    8/3 - 4.6 miles + Strength Training
    8/4 - 5.67 miles
    8/5 - 5.1 miles + Strength Training

    Upcoming races
    2/5/17 - Daytona Beach HM
2/26/17 - Disney Princess HM Orlando

@Elise4270 I'm worried about stress fracture or at least stress reaction. It's only the one side and doesn't feel like burning shin pain I had during early attempts at running. I don't know. Maybe another week off will give me a better idea.

I'm expecting a trash cart hauling PR from you next week ;)

Whoo! A reason to put the Garmin on!

I totally swore I had a stress fracture. I had an MRI and absolutely nothing showed up. I had point tenderness and a knot. Nothing.

Thank you for giving me hope! LOL I'm not having any kind of pain at rest or with light activity. Only high impact hurts. And it has improved with a week of running so maybe I just need a second week.

That could be me, except I didn't start running till I was 55. I never did well at any sports in school, and it took a long time to realize I was a good distance runner for my age.

I still won't attempt anything involving a ball or stick or racket and hand-eye coordination.

@greenolivetree, Not only could I not do anything involving a ball, I also can't do anything that involves rhythm. I tried a class in fitness club once only to find myself doing everything in the wrong direction, that is, when I could catch up the beat as the rest of the class :j
