"nonscale victory". I wish the original poster had written it out on the title, your question is asked approximately once a week.
That and nobody looks at the contexts to the posts and figures it out from content.8 -

I cheated and googled "NSV" to find what it stands for - I guess it was originally a Weight Watchers thing. But while we're on the subject - even google couldn't help me figure out what *kitten* means. I've seen it a couple times - best one I can remember was something like "a**", as in get off the couch and move yours. Any help out there?
And here's my NSV for today - closet-shopped a dressy shirt with sleeves that used to be too tight!10 -

MFP's forum software auto-corrects naughty words that might offend someone to *kitten* - sometimes called the "*kitten* filter".

so *kitten* could be the f word, could be the A word for butt or a variety of other words I'll leave to your imagination.1

I was able to suss out the general meaning, but for some reason I wasn't able to translate "evidence of incremental, observable progress" into the acronym. Intriguing about the etymology of "kitten" ;D5 -

I remember I used to be pretty nasty to myself inside those fitting rooms and utterly hating everything, leaving super depressed and ALWAYS with a black dress and guess what? It didn't matter if I was a size 4 or a size 24.
Well Yesterday I walked in there super relaxed knowing my hard work was paying off and whatever I have it's because of me being consistent and doing things at my own pace If I didn't find a dress this time it was okay and I shouldn't be nasty to myself and that I should understand I came from a pretty big size, I knew I was making awesome progress and if it turned out I wasn't there yet then I shouldn't be discouraged and completely give up just because this time they didn't have a dress for me and since I've been putting a lot of effort without killing myself I knew next time I went there I would find something.
So as always went for the safety black dresses but as I was heading to the fitting room I saw this stunning royal blue dress with jewels I stood there thinking how beautiful it was then my first thought was: That dress is too pretty I bet they only have a 2, 4, 7 and 9 I made those negative thoughts be quiet inside my head and I headed over there and they had it in 15! I just couldn't believe such beautiful dress would be available in a 15.
The lady helping me out was extremely nice, in a super good mood and beyond helpful! I swear the second I walked out and I looked at myself in the mirror I felt just like a princess! The lady and I agreed that was it! So for the very first time in my entire life I'm not wearing a black dress to a wedding.
Next to my fitting room there was a 30 something year old lady who was a size 4 and I overheard her saying she loved the dress but she HATED her arms. So here I am a size 15 and the old me would've felt extremely selfconcious but I made myself stop again before I thought anything sad and as I lifted my arms I noticed all that weightlifting is paying off in my arms, there's no way they look ANYWHERE near to what they looked like when I started.
I haven't been looking at the scale at all but I can tell in my clothes and how much energy I have lately
Sorry for this massive post but I hope it helps someone out there. Posts on this section had made my days much happier, so I wanna pay it forward.
I've stopped saying things like "I'm nowhere near my goal" or things that make it sound I apologize for my current size when I say things like that it feels I don't give credit to myself for the hard work I put in every single time, I've made the choice to ENJOY every single step and stage of this journey, I know as I keep going I will see changes and I will enjoy those too.
Wonderful, wonderful post!

I used to be very conscious about photos because of my size, especially in my lycra, spandex cycling outfit. They are so unforgiving and I used to always stick with dark colors. Now fear no more, I can wear whatever crazy colors and photos can be taken from whichever angle. The sense of freeing is amazing....

More room in my closet! I have a range of clothing sizes because I gained weight slowly over the years. Wearing my smaller stuff, and as I lose I'm boxing up the too-big clothes for donation.32

I finished level one of the 30 Day Shred. I've never made it past like 3 days.34

Something that has happened a lot to me lately.
When I'm getting dressed for work I pick up some of my skinnier clothes and think "this will never fit" but try it on anyways and it does!
I've also started noticing that on days when I wear something that I think fits perfectly my friends are telling me "That's way too big"
It is crazy how my brain is still not catching up/seeing the same image everyone else is seeing.35 -

Well for me it was the old belt loop. For months I had been slowly losing the battle of the bulge due to a plethora of injuries. It was getting so bad that I was about to wrap myself in bubble wrap and just stay in my house. Although that’s not safe either I think I broke my other big toe last night just going to bed! WTF??? But this morning when donning my belt I realized that I went a belt loop further than I had in a few weeks. I lost two but I’ve gained one back and in fact it feels a little loose!
YAY ME!!!
Congrats on all of y’alls! There are some really good ones too!

Started this thing 24 days ago. Now my shorts are starting to fall off (easy, ladies ) with 2.5 inches of my waist gone. Went to the doc today and my BP was 110/70. Hooray! Quitting smoking is coming really soon! Loving my new life!31

I can feel some muscle separation in my quads. It's always been just one big chunk of meat before haha. But now I can start to feel the different quad muscles in there. It's pretty cool!25

We're always the last person to see the change. I was always used to seeing the fat man in the mirror. I've been on this journey since January and I'd say within the past month I'm finally starting to accept it in my brain of what I've become.11 -

I just looked at my businesstrip/holiday itinary and at least two of the hotels have gym facilitie This actually made my day. Happily going to be using them18

Cutting the grass only took me 50 minutes today instead of an hour and 10 minutes and I wasn't out of breath half-way through. That made me very happy...those 55 lbs gone has made a big difference24

Slowly getting rid of more clothes....such an odd sensation for me...I hate shopping really but maybe that will change18
-
My t-shirts are now tight on my arms and loose around my belly (instead of the other way 'round)!23

I am finding that I suddenly have an urge to buy clothes that aren't perhaps age appropriate.... I'm having a throwback to my golden years of nineties grunge. Heaps of fun because I get all my clothes in op shops and now I can fit all the cute little things that everyone else has grown out of!23

I wouldn't either. That is so cool! Good for you guys!4 -
Okay, I've only been doing this 12 days, so my NSVs are very, very small...but I see a change in my stomach, face, and feet (the latter were one of the things that got me off my fanny: I'd never had chubby feet until about 2 months ago...now they're back to what I'm used to.)
I normally wouldn't post such small NSVs, but I really wanted to ask, since the topic of MFP lingo came up, what "brownshirt" means. I Googled NSV and Dunlap's Disease some time ago, and figured out *kitten*, but I can't get "brownshirt".14 -
Fitting into 2 pairs of jeans that I haven't been able to wear for a long time.13

There are no small NSV's!! It's like horseshoes and hand grenades - close counts! And changes that you can see in under two weeks are worth sharing.
The day-to-day accomplishments are just important (and motivating) as the big finish / goal line moments. Thanks to all who share their successes and keep inspiring us not to give up.6
