    Total: 133.52/125

Today's notes: With the thunderstorm this morning, I did not get my run in before the day started. I decided to make up for that by going on my run after going into school to get some early classroom prep done. Went to a park near school that has a figure-8 loop that's almost exactly a mile, and did just under 4 laps.

    Mile 1: 9:15
    Mile 2: 9:10
    Mile 3: 9:09
    Mile 4: 8:59

    Total time: 36:35
    Average pace: 9:08

I was hoping to get 150 miles this month, after how the month began but, with recovering from various pains/strains, I'm more than happy with just passing my goal, and having my highest mileage month yet. Here's to the next week and a half of hard training, and 2 weeks of taper before my HM!

You beat me to it. I agree with Galen Rupp. And that was a week after racing the 10,000 meters.

Not going to reach 40 by the end of the month, but the fact that I'm able to run at all is good enough for me. I have back to back HMs on the 10th and 17th of September so I'm trying to save myself for those. Thanks to everyone for the encouragement this month!

Tacking on another slow 3 miles. Looks like going out at 11am on the dot was the right decision. It was sunny at the beginning of the run, and a little too warm, but the storm clouds were starting to roll in. By the time I finished, it was cloudy with a pretty stiff breeze (to my face in the last half of the run!! see last week's complaint post). Now, my weather app claims that it's thunderstorming outside, but I can't confirm, as I don't have a window in my cube (and the ones across the hall face directly toward an adjacent building).

51.5 of 40 mile goal completed.

No doubt! He was phenomenal! First America to medal in so long, wasn't he?

    End of month question?

    1. Who was your most inspirational/helpful/model runner this month?

The US runner Abbey D'Agostino and the New Zealand runner Nikki Hamblin who helped each other up while competing in the 5k at the Olympics. Abbey D'Agostino was obviously in pain after the fall but still finished the race.

These two were in second place for me. Rupp medaling in three marathon was my main inspiration this month.

Finally catching up with the weekend.

@katharmonic - Sorry about your pup!
@ceciliaslater - "Chafe" is a four-letter word...or leads to them. Great run, though! Way to kill your goal!
@skippygirlsmom and @kristinegift - As my recent hip issue was my first real running injury, I have definitely been a little uptight getting back to it...worried about every little niggle or odd feeling, even ones not anywhere near my right hip. Apparently, I have done a 180° turn from "invincible" to "hypochondriac" from one injury.
@Elise4270 - I'm going to go with Lauren Fleshman. She announced her retirement from competitive running in late July and has a great, positive attitude about it! Plus, she has done fabulous stuff for the running community, runners and especially women in competitive running.
@ddmom0811 - I've had those mornings too. Sometimes, the pillow wins. The first three days of school wore out everyone in my family, including Mom and Dad.

    Question:

I see a lot on here about Parkrun. Can someone enlighten me as to what that is?

I'd been curious about this too, and looked it up. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it's in many places yet. parkrun.us/

Reading what this parkrun is all about, Huntsville doesn't have a "parkrun" officially, but it sounds very close to our Summer Cross Country Runs:
