What nobody tells you about losing weight

Forgot to add...the first compliment that you receive on your weight loss will give you the most euphoric feeling ever! My sister was literally gushing over me yesterday! Here I was, still thinking I hadn't progressed much, but she told me otherwise and also let me know how proud she is of me....44

that you won't recognize the size of your new clothes. searching for my jeansin tje dryer today I picked them up 3 times thinking they were hubbies(he's smaller than i) they looked way to small for me.21

-Being asked at work by patients that have seen me for the last 2 years "oh are you new?" Apparently "Nope. Just not as fat" isn't the best response - lol
- Waking up because I'm uncomfortable with the way my bones are poking me.

That you will be a friggin role model to EVERYONE around you. Even folks that you don't know personally have noticed your loss and are watching you!!
:-)
That you will embrace that "responsibility" and become even more diligent in your regiment.. That you will answer all of their questions (repeatedly) and hope that they too realize the importance of this lifestyle change.28 -

No one told me I would be freezing!
THIS! I used to sleep with the window open and hated having the heating on now I'm like 'Why isn't everyone else wearing a coat!"
- Taking us so much less space on public transport and people now taking the seat next to me when I used to have it all to myself
- buying clothes that I like not just whatever they have in my size
- thinking of weight loss in terms of the no. fully packed suitcases

You'll start/enjoy taking pictures of yourself21

That you might be able to eat MORE...10

Your feet might actually shrink. I had no idea that this was a thing until I got on here and read it. Even after reading it I kind of pooh poohed the idea because I didn't think my feet had any fat to lose. After a pair of sandals fell off as I was walking around one morning while getting ready for work I became a believer. Yes, your feet may shrink. Be prepared to lose favorite shoes due to their new floppy, loose status.15

I second that one! I would add to that the head has some fat to loose as well since two hats that were snug last year are now comfortably loose!9 -
Has anyone else found that the willpower you use to lose weight, carries over into the rest of your life? I'm dealing with a financial issue from an auto accident and the at-fault driver's company does not want to pay up. A year ago, I would have accepted their unbelievable low-ball offer just to get it over with. Not any longer! I have pushed and pushed (nicely) and finally got an offer waaaayyy higher than I expected to get. I reasoned to myself that if I had the sheer willpower and drive to force my own body to consume its own energy stores for ten full weeks, I could surely push these guys a little further. Losing just a few pounds, nowhere near my goal, has given me a lot more confidence in all parts of my life.79

I had to go out and buy new, smaller belts!

...I think I mostly go around the perimeter of the grocery store and down the frozen vegetable aisle. Fully 75% of the stuff in a grocery store is not edible any longer.
There have been many documentaries and comments on how a person should only go around the perimeter of the grocery store as that is where all the "food" is! Great job figuring that out for yourself. The amount of salt in prepared food is very high.
One downside with wanting to eat healthier is having to make all the food I eat from scratch to avoid salt. Much easier to buy premade food, but now it tastes salty. Salt salt salt.
So another thing nobody told me is that after eating healthy food to lose weight, all normal food would be to salty.

My sex drive has increased enormously, not that my husband is complaining, but it's been shocking how I seem to be "in the mood" all the time. I enjoy sex a lot more too, probably because I'm not out of breath or feeling completely self conscious the whole time!
Absolutely THIS! I'm in my 60's but my husband says it's like living with a 'giddy 30 year old again'. I'll take the compliment!
You give me hope for the future lol!8 -
As my body detoxes from all the toxins I experience a healing crisis (old wounds or aches happening again or flu like colds but after some research found that they are only detox symptoms)...4

That the old pics I used to hate actually help me stay motivated...26

That some people who are thin or actually underweight will suddenly ask you if they are fat. One of my coworkers actually lifted up her shirt to ask if she had "rolls" on her flat stomach. I had no idea that my weight loss would be so disturbing to others.19

People now find it acceptable to tell you how "fat" and "massive" you used to be
You never called me those names to my face when I was fat so why do you think you can now? It was still the same person inside and that same person could also go back to how they were55 -
While an advantage is that you fit so much better in airplane seats when you have lost weight, it does come at a price.
On long long haul flights (like 24 hours in a plane around the world) your behind and sit/hipbones are so utterly sore as there is too little padding to cushion it anymore.12
