    Good morning ladies :)

@cbabie - At this time of year my kitchen is running over with different veggies as people give them to me knowing I will use them. If it comes into my kitchen, I take it as a personal challenge to use them as I hate to waste food as well. The beef tagine would adapt well for the crock pot. I am going to make a large batch in the crock pot and freeze it. I have a lovely Crock Pot Sesame Honey Chicken recipe that the girls and I enjoy. We eat it for supper with some rice and veggies, then we have it for lunch in a wrap or on a salad.
    Crock Pot Sesame Chicken Skinnytaste.com
    Servings: 8 • Serving Size: over 2/3 cup • Points+: 4 • Smart Points: 5
    Calories: 185.5 • Fat: 2 g • Protein: 27 g • Carbs: 13.5 g • Fiber: 0.7 g • Sugar: 10 g
    Sodium: 504 mg

@gemwolf110 - I am glad your fur baby is settling in. I hope you start to feel better.

@bugmom92 - Your chili recipe sounds awesome, could you PM it to me?

My challenge yesterday was caving in and eating more than 1/2 my exercise calories back. I was still under (maybe since I ate most of them) and didn't eat until I was bloated, but I need to be more diligent and accountable to myself and make much better food choices.

My reason for making my lifestyle change is so that I am healthier (and totally shallow, that I look better).

I got my hour of exercise in this morning. I am heading to the dentist at noon. After years of having severe problems I had all my teeth extracted last month. Today is the final fitting and I will be getting my dentures next week. I am so excited.

I hope everyone has an awesome day!

1)My challenge yesterday was exercise. I'm fighting a cold which triggers my asthma. I have to host a gathering tomorrow evening. So my mind tells me to just lay low til the weekend. That way if I get sicker then no big deal.
2)I am following a modified carb plan because I'm prediabetic. Both parents had diabetes

Anyone else want to post their challenges they faced?

So these challenges are going to become our goals for the next week. As the pic says there is always a way. Post your goal at the end of your post and whether or not you met it for the day.

    Goal: Exercise today (not met)

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

My biggest challenge today is to not eat all those BLT's (bites/licks/tastes) that add up without me realizing it....licking the spoon after making my sons pbj, taking last bite of kids yogurt etc....
This is pretty much my biggest challenge every day lol...

Reason for change is that I am dealing with a hip injury so working out is not happening right now and I have put on a good 10-15 lbs since June. clothes are tight and I am not buying new ones!!!!

So @peruviansweetie what time is dinner? I'll be right over! lol. That looks delicious!

I'm super tired, and I have to teach tomorrow, so I need to hit the hay and get rest. Last night I slept pretty well...way less pain, I'm sure it has something to do with the mega-doses of aleve and motrin I've been switching back and forth on. I don't usually take much of either, but since I have had both prescribed by my doctor (the mega-dose size), I will take them on a necessary occasion. And this cold warranted it. MFP keeps telling me I'm not eating enough (today and 2 days ago) but I'm not going to stress about it...they should just be happy I'm eating anything at all being sick, lol. Like you should be able to hit the "I'm sick button" and they recalculate and say, oh ok, you can eat 700 calories today 'cause you're sick. It's an idea. Tomorrow night is Rustic Leek and Potato soup in the pressure cooker. I like cream soups, but my daughter does not. This one is creamy with chunks and it's perfect for both of us.

    1) Tell each other your biggest challenge that you faced today or yesterday

Today I had to go shop at Sam's Club and I was wiped out when I got home. I was still determined to go walking with my friend. I realized that it would not be the best for my health, and I decided against it. That was my challenge. Sometimes deciding NOT to exercise can be a challenge!

    2) Give one reason why you are following your program.

I need to lose weight for the 2 typical reasons: my health, my looks.

@mysticlizard I will try to figure out how to share a recipe I have on this site. That might be the easiest way.

I'm not ignoring anyone...I read everyone's posts and did a lot of nodding, smiling and agreeing. Just too tired to keep on writing :-)

    Until tomorrow,
    Karla :-)

@mysticlizard http://www.myfitnesspal.com/recipe/view/243575665183981 Hope that link works for the Butternut Chili. You can change it up by making it meatless (I do that plenty, enough protein in the beans). I don't think I put directions, haha. Just brown meat, saute veggies (I like to pre-soften butternut by steaming in microwave), add all the canned stuff. I don't think I put the seasonings, but I use garlic powder, and chili powder to taste. Sometimes I'll use Taco Seasoning, but it is saltier then. You could cook on stove, crockpot, or the way I did it last time was in my pressure cooker on simmer (no pressure)

jackie All of us have been guilty of that. Real life gets in the way and we lose our focus. Now you are aware of it and you can move forward

gemwolf Let's get back to the exercise once we get our lungs back in shape. Funny enough, exercise is one of my triggers. I'm supposed to use my inhaler before but I forget.Probably if I had more of a consistent routine.

cbabie heres a recipe for you http://leelalicious.com/slow-cooker-butternut-squash-chicken-quinoa-stew/

shelly Good for you for your tracking. Helps you see where you are doing good or bad

trooworld What a lovely husband you have. Nice to have such a good support system

mysticlizard Thanks for the sesame chicken recipe

dawn The PB licks are the hardest. I need to do more hip stretching I have really tight hips. I think due to an old knee injury I never had looked at. I think it did something to my gait.

peru That soup looks good. I guess that time of the year we are all making soup

karla Good for you on getting in your exercise. Even though you didn't want to. That's a tough one. I always have a little voice in my head that says, You deserve to just sit and rest for a bit. My kids would argue I sit alot longer. My fitbit too

    Morning gals:

I had a rough day yesterday. I don't know what the cause is yet, still trying to figure it out. I don't know how many time yesterday I was told, you are not eating right, you do too much, you have to take care of yourself. ugh...well I was feeling great, did my walk, almost ready for work, had to stop and get a budget to a client, then started getting ready for my 8:30 appt by my house. ALL OF A SUDDEN I felt a little light headed, then it went into full blown dizziness, nausea..used some oils to counter act. I got enough where with all to get my hair done, get in the car and drive slow to my appt. Any sudden move just sent me spinning, then the nausea would hit. I got to work, walking up to the building was hard..I had to call and have someone carry by bags..get to my desk thinking I could wait it out.NOT ended up in the "quiet room" with a nurses assit( now sec guard) taking my blood pressure, making me drink orange juice and telling me that if I had any heart disease in my family...I almost laughed at her.. that I needed to watch and if it continued get to the doctor, this is a sign of heart attacks in women..LOL Could also be inner ear, etc.. Well I finally got enough gumption to drive home..it was hard and when I got in my garage I literally passed into a sleep..not sure how long, but woke up got in the house and laid down until 3. Ate a little something and then on to church. I sang, did all of what I do and life is sort of back to normal. I am still a little "weak" feeling..but just think I need to eat. So why am I telling you all of this because you really don't want to know...LOL Well I am saying this to say, it's making me evaluate what I am putting in my body, is it stress, is it the way I go on binges, is it.....this is why we are all here..to make us grab back our health!! (yes to look better as a side line effect) :)

I will catch up on personals later...I am thankful for each one of you. I think you are all doing great in journey. Please evaluate your health and what is important to you!!

You know these were my goals yesterday...

    1) Tell each other your biggest challenge that you faced today or yesterday
The biggest challenge was NOT TO EAT after church...
    2) Give one reason why you are following your program.
Because I need to lose the 10 - 15 lbs I am not happy with and tracking is really the only thing that works for me.

Today they seem not to be the same goals for me today...

    1) Tell each other your biggest challenge that you faced today or yesterday
The biggest challenge was to take care of ME
    2) Give one reason why you are following your program.
Because I want my health, I want to be active, mind alert, no doctors, live to enjoy my family and to serve God with the body he gave me.

(going to try that walk again today) LOL I can't give up on my body or mind.

I have been on WW since middle of June. Lost 20lbs in the first 4-5 weeks. Teetering since then. I am trying to get my focus back. My husband just found out he has high blood pressure and has started trying to lose weight. He is using mfp so I joined also. Regaining focus and looking forward to a healthier us! Love the encouragement you all share.

Hi Ladies, I hope everyone's day is going well for them.

@bugmom92 - The link doesn't work. :( Could you please try copying and pasting the ingredients list to a PM? I am really looking forward to trying the recipe.
@dankas001 - I am glad you had fun at Zumba.
@theslightedgeforever - I hope you enjoy the recipe as much as we do.
@jjansen39 - Awesome on your no snacking. Yay!
@cbabie - I hope you are feeling better today. <3

I got my hour of exercise in. I met my challenge of not over eating of exercise calories last night. I stayed within my normal calories. :) My challenge today is again not to over eat my calories. My husband is home (he is an OTR truck driver) and sometimes I eat more when he is home.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

    Hi everyone...

@cbabie: wow. That sounds like quite a day!! Hope you are feeling better!
@reed: im new here, sounds like you too. Welcome!

My goal for today was to go to yoga and avoid mindless eating. As day went on my cold got worse so I skipped yoga but did good woth eating. ..

Biggest challenge as always was to avoid eating all the bites/licks chews.... I did good with this today!
  • So I finally made it on here! Sorry I had to change my username again...they wouldn't allow #believe! At this point I am having a hard time believing in myself. I've missed you Cbabie, Karla & Slightedge! Feeling really down as I gained back all my weight that I had lost on WW. I quit the gym...I quit watching what I eat and how much I eat...I quit caring! I really need some help getting back on track so here I am declaring to myself and to you that I need to get back on track so I can be healthy & happy again.

Good morning all! I made the mistake of weighing in this morning a day early (Saturdays are my official weigh in days) after eating a salty salad, and I was up over a lb! I deleted the weigh in because I don't think I'm up, I think I'm down, but my hands are still swollen from the salad. Now that I deleted it, I feel like I am cheating! lol

    Have a great day everyone!

jackie yaaay on no snacking. Are you measuring and tracking?

cbabie Sorry to hear you were sick. I was more worried to hear you were driving and dizzy. Did you eat enough the day before? I had bookclub at a restaurant so yes there was food. We read The Underground Railroad.

danka Minor bump in the road. Some of it is probably sodium bloat due to your holiday. wishing you and your dad/sis a good time

    reed Welcome to the group.

mysticlizard I went and bought my squash so I'm ready to make it.

dawn Good for you with no BLTs and eating right

shannon welcome back Good to hear from you. I think we all start over everyday. you can do this

    bininj welcome to the group

karla I hope your cold goes away

trooworld I always think those sodium bloat weigh ins aren't real. Its the overall trend that I look for.

gemwolf Yikes on the antibiotics. Take care Lots of colds on here. I need to disinfect my computer. lol

    Goal- exercise (not yet)

So cauliflower......The health benefit I choose is 1) Reduces cancer risk. My mom died of cancer and all her brothers and sisters except one did too. There are so many new ways to use cauliflower than the traditional way to use it. A great carb substitute.

I want to make cauliflower nachos. I will try it and then let you know how it turned out and give you the recipe.

Cauliflower- I choose "balance hormones" because I am in the premenopausal state right now, or am about to be. I just saw a cauliflower tater tot recipe, I don't know if it can be "healthified" let me see if I can find it. Here it is: jocooks.com/recipes/cheesy-cauliflower-tots/
  • So far so good today. One of my co-workers bought me Almond M&M's and a King Size Almond Joy for my birthday...I brought them home but left them in the car til hubby gets home. He can have them! I still have 700 calories left for the night...I had a bowl of White Chicken Chili in the fridge at work that I was going to have...but I forgot it. Kids have a birthday party so dinner will be late. See lots of new people or at least new to me. The WW Newbie group has grown and that is awesome. I can't wait to start interacting with everyone and giving/receiving some much needed support.
