If iv only burned 2,600 calories wouldnt eating 2600 calories put me at even with no weight loss? Normally i eat a few hundred back of what it gives me, Never had it give me 1400 extra calories back from exercise before not sure what to do LOL
This picture shows that, as of the moment you took it, you had burned 2685 calories that day (according to FitBit). Depending on what time of day it was taken, you were still going to burn more calories just by existing - even if you did no further exercise. But it's not an "eat this" number because this number doesn't have any deficit built into it. It's a straight report of your burn.
Assuming you have FitBit and MFP synced, use the MFP number. MFP assumes you will continue to exist until midnight and has added those calories into your daily target too.
That was my point yes, Fitbit showed i burned 2600 and MFP was tellign me to eat 2600. Its okay i ended up calling *kitten* on it all and just ate 1800 which was as much as i could eat anyway Thanks for the help0 -

Find a happy medium that doesn't require as much time spent working out is my advice. Something that you want to do consistently all the time/ long term.
I used to do 10 miles+/22000 steps a day, I needed to eat much more and I liked being able to eat more...but when my joints started giving me problems I knew I had to change what I did. I cut back to around 6 miles a day most days (approx 14k steps), my joints were happier and I wasn't as hungry so it felt easy to cut back my calories to my new TDEE of 2000. And I'm happier as I'm not spending so much of my free time working out, I can do other things that I enjoy instead
6 miles is my lucky number to! Interesting .Its just a 2 hours walk a day at 3MPH i found that super doable0 -
@JaydedMiss so why not try for 4mph or fast /slow intervals and make your walk more time efficient?
I run for 40-50 mins every morning to get at least half my steps in before work.

I walk however fast i want when im out, Just said 3 mph because 2 hours of my day spent exercising is NOT alot of my time to do. Why you talking about more time efficient than 2 hours2 -

oh no problem, its fine if you have two hours... everyone has to do what works for them0 -
That's a lot of walking with very little calories. I'm 5'6", 137 lbs and eat 1,800-2,000 calories a day. I eat that # whether I workout or not. Google "scoobysworkshop calorie calculator" and "eat more to weigh less." You may have to do a metabolism reset if you've been eating low calorie for an extended period of time. It sucks eating on such a restricted diet. I did that when I first started paying attention to my nutrition. I made the switch and I lost 90 lbs.
She eats 1200 PLUS the calories burned through exercise. With the walking, she said she eats 2000-2500 calories a day. That is not low.5 -

Yeah i may have to do this soon, Ill be working my new job. Although its as a junk remover/mover person so its very physical anyway, May not have to walk as much1 -

To be young with no responsibilities, where 2 hours a day is considered a drop in the bucket for time.8 -

That is low when you consider she is walking 15 miles.
Is it? What would you consider reasonable? If her NEAT minus deficit is 1200 then it's 1200, not much she can do about that.1 -
I can identify with this as I found long walks during the summer (around 3 hours worth) really helped me de-stress. I'm currently implementing running to try and get rid of nervous energy (anxiety/ IBS sufferer) without the eventual possibility of muscle/ joint pain or fatigue and desire to overeat.
Not quite the same - I was actually shocked that I'd burn 2500 ish cals/ day purely by pursuing what I viewed as relaxation. Finding where to draw the line is tough imo.1 -

15 miles = 25 km = 5 hours = 1000 cal + 1200 cal = 2200 cal.
If she's eating 2000-2500 cal ... well, 2200 cal lands right in the middle of that.

How fast are you losing? I eat the same amount as you and I have been maintaining on WAY less exercise. (I eat average of 2400-2500ish) and exercise an hour- 1.5h 4-5x a week. (only burning 200-400 calories)1

It astounds me when people can maintain on that much. Lucky girl!
Personally, my maintenance is net 1500 cal. Oh well.1 -

Although it is extremely common for people to exercise so they can eat more or as punishment for indulging, I really don't like that mindset. Exercise should mostly be done to improve fitness and make your quality of life better. Calorie burn and it's helpfulness to weight loss is a bonus. I know every now and then an extra hard or long workout to offset and indulgence isn't a big deal, but it shouldn't be the norm.
That's exactly what she's doing. Exercising allows her to meet her goals and eat a pizza, which improves her quality of life. Which is what you prescribed.
This is true...but it can also be a slippery slope...
Certainly one of the advantages for me of regular exercise is to be able to just live life and not give a ton of thought to my diet (though I eat pretty well)...particularly when it comes to beer...but it's not the "reason" I guess...
I don't really ever think, "hey...I'm going out for pizza with my kiddos Saturday...better do a bunch of unplanned exercise to make up for it." I think you can easily get into a situation where exercise becomes punishment or penance which isn't a healthy mindset IMO.
IDK, I just exercise regularly...I enjoy a good ride...I guess it generally means that I can enjoy my beers without much thought, but I just don't think about that so much. I ride to ride...
I'm basically the same way.
I set my exercise goals first, without reference to what I plan to eat. When I'm training the hardest or doing lots of biking that means my TDEE can be quite high, so a pleasant side effect is I can fit in a lot more food, but that's not why I'm doing it and if I have a lower exercise period (right now, in fact) I can adjust back. The main thing is to be aware of how active you are and eat accordingly, I'd say.
I think it does work for some, but for me the reason for the exercise should be something other than burning calories. Indeed, I tend to eat better to support a training goal naturally vs. train more to support an eating goal.
That said, I did find it useful to raise basic activity level (before any planned exercise) to have a higher base calorie level, and just walking to do things you need to do anyway helps with that. If I've had a sedentary day unexpectedly I might walk more of my commute (I take public transportation) than usual if I can fit it in or some such. While minimal, I think the difference between being truly sedentary at my weight/height/age vs. being lightly active is something like 1550 cal TDEE vs. 1850, so if one were truly sedentary getting to lightly active (which can be done without much burden) is a good thing. (Since I live in a city and have to walk for lots of errands and don't drive much, I suspect I was never really sedentary (before planned exercise), though.)1 -

Match up roughly with calculaters online when i put in my stats walking 3 mph. when i average that into the amount of miles its pretty on point with the extra calories it gives on MFP. This is why i don't eat many back XD Ill eat 1800-2000 and call it a day. Ill be plenty happy with that many, And i think its safe to say i burned that many today
I regret saying it matched i was at 2600 now suddenly im at 3200 burned 2 hours later all i did was walk like 2,000 steps. I super hate fitbit it was good before im not sure whats changed now...-sigh- atleast its still good for step count ill just keep doing what iv been doing

If you change things it may take a while to adjust, but it probably will. I know lots find it inaccurate at first but it becomes more accurate.1 -

Dr Oetker Ristorante pizza. 210 calories for 1/4 of the pizza. We cut it in 8ths, and I have three slices plus salad for a tasty low cal pizza dinner.2 -

Yep, yep, yep! This one is my favourite, they have plenty of different flavours.

I do to ensure I'm maintaining a deficit and/or staying at maintenance. Not that this is specifically for food, but to ensure I'm hitting my goals and have enough to budget for a beer.0

I'm nearly 45 and spend around 2+ hours exercising everyday. I have more time now than i did when i was younger and had kids to look after!3

Off topic here but shop bought pizza!...yuck gotta be either home made or from an authentic Italian pizzeria ...3

Regarding time to exercise ...
I'm 49 + employed full-time in a sedentary job + attending university part-time, slowly working my way toward a Master's degree ...
I incorporate walking into my commute to and from work ... about 5-10 min each way.
I walk at lunch ... I've got an hour there.
I climb stairs at work ... 15 -30 min.
My husband and I walk or cycle or go to the gym or use our little home gym for 30 min to 1 hour.
That leaves several hours in the evening to do everything else ... study, do housework, projects, etc. etc.
Yesterday was a rest day. I only walked 4.5 km for a total of about 55 min, and climbed just 4 flights of stairs which I didn't even bother to track. So maybe an hour's exercise.

I hear you, and i stayed away from shop bought frozen pizzas for years because they tasted like flavourless cardboard But i saw the Oetkers on sale one day and decided to try it fully expecting disappointment! But i was pleasantly surprised, it tasted nothing like the frozen pizzas of yesteryear. I sometimes sprinkle extra cheese on top and add mushrooms with a big salad on the side. My hubby and I go halves,it's makes a quick, calorie friendly tasty meal.1 -

Thats great. Great job wiggling exercise in through the day. See busy productive adults can still fit in exercise...not just...what was it...young with no responsibilities?2 -
Don't judge me man... But i used to spend more time watching the bold and the beautiful and the young and the restless than I do now exercising. I know which one is a much productive way to spend my time5

I agree with you, but I haven't tried frozen pizza in years either... except Trader Joe's 'tarte d'alsace', which I love and is only 700ish calories for the whole thing (it's always heavier than the 2 servings on the package).
But honestly, there are a couple pizza places in the area that don't go nuts on the toppings and I highly doubt that their pizzas are much more than 900-1000 calories either (as long as you don't pick the extra cheesy/meaty ones).1 -
I like two frozen pizzas here ... the one Christine posted and one other. They are for days when I cycle a moderate amount.
I will go for Dominos pizza (about 1200 cal) on days when I cycle a lot.1
