no exercise this weekend BUT set a goal to ride in a closed road event at the end of April 70 miles and a lot of hills :-) that will give me motivation and focus for the next few months! :-D5

Happy Sunday middle agents! Just wondering why MFP doesn't subtract calories for strength training. I entered all kinds of weight training I did today but it didn't register. Rookie mistake?0

Even though calories burned via strength training isn't very accurate, some calories burned should have been registered by MFP. How did you log your weight training?1 -
Hi! I'm not new to the site, but haven't logged in for awhile. I'm 44, have a very demanding job, and have a hard time finding workout time. I bought a house and tore out the kitchen, and found it's EXTREMELY hard to keep up on things when you don't have a kitchen. But...I set up a great home gym in one of the bedrooms, got a personal trainer friend to give me a workout routine tailored to my equipment, and am ready to get back in the groove!!! Add me to your friend list...let's commiserate together about middle age, and get motivated together!!!2

I love "middle agents"! Ha!
To answer your question, in order to log calories for strength training, you have to search for strength training under the cardiovascular category rather than the strength category. I hope that helps!1 -
Hi everyone! Just started today but have a long way to go. I had lost 85 lbs about 2 years ago and stupidly put it back on. Appreciate have a group I can chat with in my age range. I'm 59 and need to lose so I can ease up on the various parts of me that have arthritis. I am divorced so it's just myself I have to deal with as far as what foods I eat. Look forward to reading everyone's point of view and experiences.3

Thanks for your help! I logged it under strength and searched for the various types of weight training I did. I guess I shouldn't worry too much - the results should show up in the scale and in the mirror eventually!

Hi,
I just turned 39. I've been on and off MFP for a few years. I love strength training and loathe cardio.1 -
Hi!
I'm in the upper limits of 'middle' age- for 51 to be the middle, I'd have to live to be 102- but I'd like to join your thread.
I suspect that slimming is slightly different for us than for those in their teens/early twenties.
I'm low-carbing the past 18 months but not no-carbing. I've lost 4 stone though slipped up over Thanksgiving week quite a bit and put on about five pounds.
That will take me ten weeks to lose again.

Please add .. Chronologically advancing in year. Biologically may be regressing ( in a positive way )1

56 in two weeks. Add me!
I am a long term (not consistent) mfp user. Achilles heel is red wine!! And cheese. Trying to lose 10-15 pounds. I strength train 3x weekly and swim or jog when I can fit it in. Just increased my calories to 1350. Been restricting too long so it's hard to make progress. Hi everyone!1 -

Congrats on your fitness!
As I've aged, the amount of overhead time added to my workouts to remain healthy has gone way up. Proper warm ups/cool downs, consistent stretching, foam rolling routines and other related stuff like yoga have become a regular part of my routine. Its a bit time consuming, but losing weeks or months to an injury is much worse.

Right on! Count me in and sign me up!1

Really enjoying the interaction I have receive in the last few days - good to be getting and giving encouragement. Christmas time is a hard time to stay on any eating plan and as much as I have tried to in the past you can't outrun poor eating choices and I am sure I will make some in the next few days and will probably enjoy it until I weigh in but getting back on plan and sticking to it is what is important. I ran today - 6.2 miles which took to 2,003 miles this year as I reached my goal. Going to work on running faster and take up biking some. I lost about 55 pounds a few years ago and have kept it off mainly because of my wife's encouragement this myfitnesspal. Hope all had a great day - feel free to add me7
