Females only - lifting/weight training results?

starting weight is the pic with hubby at 217 lbs at 5 foot 6.5 inches. i am at 167 lbs now and have been for about 2-3 months. struggling to lose any more. i will be honest and say that i probably have not been tracking as closely as i need to but for the days when i assume i go over i make up for it the next day, exercise 6 days a week. what else can i change? i run 5-6 k in 30-40 minutes then do quick weights for another 30-40 minutes. i need a program or a trainer because its getting hard to stay motivated.

After 6months of serious lifting, and following a strict diet, some ab muscles are finally starting to appear. Definitely the hardest area to train!!!!

It depends on the muscles. 20-30lbs dumbbells can be quite heavy for the deltoids, biceps and triceps. For your larger muscles, lats, pecs, quads, hamstrings, etc. you are going to want to progressively go heavier. Depending on your goal however, you can look quite defined by just watching your diet and doing body weight exercises. Just look at gymnasts.

I agree. Abs come from losing the fat that is covering them. I use 10-20 lb Dbs for FB chest press & alternet curls, triceps. I curl about 32 lbs with barbell. I lift much heavier for squat/chest press & deadlift.1 -

It depends on how muscular you want to get. I started with a goal of toning and gaining some muscle mass. I used dumbellls at home and found tons of routines on YouTube. Then I became addicted to lifting. Now I'm following a four day regime at the gym which incorporates a variety of free weights and machines.
As you get stronger, you'll want to slowly increase the amount of weight you're using ( again depending on your goals ).
Following a healthy eating plan is so important. It will help you with maximizing muscle definition.

It depends.
I am currently doing Stronglifts 5x5 (well I restarted it recently anyway). It's 3 days a week. My last successful 5x5 weights were:
Squat -> 100 lbs
Bench Press -> 65 lbs
Row -> 65 lbs
OHP -> 55 lbs
Deadlift -> 125 lbs
20 - 30 lbs on these lifts would be on the light side for me and not give me the results I want.
Things like bicep curls however I would find the 20 - 30 lb range to be a challenge.

I just started lifting and I can at last say I really enjoy going to the gym!
I need your advise on how to lose fat and tone my legs. I currently weigh 147 pounds but I carry the weight mainly in my legs/hips area, even my knees have fat around0 -

How tall are you?
"Toning" IS losing fat, which needs to be done by lifting in a deficit.3 -

Yes weight training helps with cellulite as it increases muscle tone and decreases body fat.
I put extra focus on my lower body training and use a thermogenic cream like 'sweet sweat' to improve circulation.

Losing fat is the only thing that helps with cellulite. There are no skin creams or exercises that remove fat from a specific area. As so eloquently described by USMCMP, it's like trying to dry out one corner of a sponge. That is true.
I use the thermogenic cream to aid my circulation and increase the flow of blood into the 'cooler' areas of my body, not as a cellulite cream per se.
I lift heavy on my lower body, not to try to target fat loss in that area but to increase my muscle mass, and the quads are a big muscle group, so training these reduces my body fat in all areas of my body.
A good leg day trims my waist lol
I have never bought cellulite creams but find that this helps me & wanted to share.
