In August, I got a wake-up call at the doctors office. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, possible insulin resistance, fatty liver.
This week I went in for a checkup & testing again. My doctor was so happy at my 38 lb loss!
And, I just got my test results back:
Cholesterol - down from 297 -> 193 - normal
Triglyceride - down from 229 -> 116 - normal
HDL - same at 39 - need to improve a little
LDL calculated - down 212 -> 131- still high
non-HDL - down 258 ->154 - still high
glucose - down 108->99 - normal
And my doctor's notes:
Cholesterol looks good- total, ldl and triglycerides improved! Great job!!!
Liver enzymes are normal
Kidney function is normal
Keep up the great work!!!!
I know I still need to work on ldl/hdl numbers, but the overall change in just 5 months makes me so happy!38 -

I tried them on for the first time in about a month last night and I was able to button them all the way to the top. Granted, they weren't as comfortable as they used to be, but hey...progress!
It's been one month since I posted about my favorite pair of jeans, and I'm happy to report that I'm wearing them (comfortably) on the regular now. Woo-hoo weight loss!22 -

1 minute, 45 second plank during Barre the other day. I wanted to challenge myself. Even though I'm not shrinking as fast as I'd like, I am definitely getting stronger!25

I had to think on this for a while, haven't seen any reduction that affects clothing yet.
My NSV - no fast food runs since I started tracking in early Jan. Also, when I've binged on Doritos or ice cream (one each), I logged the full amount and compensated. I was delighted one transgression didn't lead to another, then another.34 -
I have this one shirt that I bought several months back that fit, but wasn't the most flattering. Wore it for the first time today and got multiple compliments on it. Think it's safe to say it looks better now.19

I could go out tonight with my bride and another couple, have dinner and a couple of beers, and know I will negate it all with tomorrow's planned workout. This is not current stage, for those who are trying to lose. Don't give up and keep logging!

holy cow, you pretty much cut most of those numbers in half.
i have been lallygagging since jan 30th. i remember the exact day because 24 hours later i happened to have a short clearing of the flu fog and dimly registered we were a few hours from 2017. can't say i could even imagine giving a damn at the time and then a week after i got back on my feet, began a new contract.
we were still under a couple of inches of ice, but i bought out my bike and began the commute on day 2. so that's victory 1.
still haven't found a copacetic route to get in or out to this site, but every day since then i've kept chipping away at the problem with a new experiment. victory 2, because eventually i will narrow it down.
i've sherpa'd real food of my own down there pretty much every day. a big mental milestone for me is realising that if it's in the house i might as well take it to work, because once i'm down there i am GOING to eat it, whether i can imagine myself doing it at 9pm on the night before or not. i swear this pleases me most just because it's an actually-logical way of dealing with food, and the grocery turnover/throughput is better as well than when i was acting like food is just an optional entertainment instead of a basic pragmatic thing.
aaaaand my first two weeks back i just did 'been sick' workouts, but this friday i decided with my trainer that if i don't get back on the programme wagon i'm never going to. so we picked a degree of deload and got going. i'm back on 'real' lifting again, and my numbers were better than i expected they'd be, what with catching the lurgy and then throwing all that sudden hill cycling at my poor hips.
i got 7 reps for my 55-pound set at overhead press, and TEN for my 145 deadlift. it was heavy enough but it felt do-able, so i was determined not to stop until i had touched that amrap ceiling. tbh, i was as weak as a cat, and psychologically i really felt cheated by catching something right when i was within touching range of some longer-term goals.
i'm still sulking/sad about it. but at least i've faced facts enough to get started on re-covering the ground.

Today I wore a shirt I haven't worn in about a year, due to the fact it wouldn't fit me. Now it's looser than the first time I had it on.12

I not only tolerated my picture being taken yesterday, I actually encouraged it. And I thought it looked OK! And then I put it in my MFP and Facebook profiles! This is huge for me. I really hate pictures of myself.22

I tried to overeat yesterday. I burned ~1500 calories snow shoeing (almost 3 hrs) and tried to eat them all back and couldn't. Used to go through a large deep dish pizza and I couldn't get through a small one and ate half of it. Ended up about 750 under my calorie limit for the day even pigging out as best I can. Scale still went down from yesterday.40

Friend gave me a package of 4 cookies, instead of just sitting and eating them all at once, which is what I would have done, I had one. And now I have 3 left as treats for this week22

last week I did w7d2 of the C25k programme and felt very out of breath and sweaty at the end of it. Today I did w7d3 and sailed straight through it. And I had the treadmill set to a higher speed! I usually get to about the end of week 7 and then quit before restarting the programme again at a slightly higher speed a couple of months later. I've just downloaded the couch to 10k app because when I finish the C25k I've got a new goal
The scales may not be changing but I'm definitely fitter than I was two months ago!20 -
I have 2 that are kind of combined.
Getting ready at the gym was quite stressful so I am really hoping that I can sort out the logistics and keep going. Surely it gets easier?
I definitely think it does. I have a bag that I keep everything in (gym shoes (my gym is super strict about you changing shoes after you arrive), toiletries, towel and plastic bag). I have a very set routine. When I go to the gym I wear my work clothes on top of my workout gear (stops it getting crumpled). When I get home at the end of the day I empty out the dirty clothes (that's what the plastic bag is for), refill my water bottle, change the towel and add fresh underwear/stockings etc. Then in the morning I put on my workout clothes, put my work clothes on top, grab the bag and I'm good to go.

Can so relate with this post. Started putting up selfies just recently. Wouldn't dream of doing it 70 plus pounds heavier lol9 -
I went to my favorite restaurant yesterday. It is 4 hours away and when I go there I typically eat like I will never eat again. Fried catfish, hushpuppies, pinto beans, pickled green tomatoes, coleslaw, baked potato, and sweet tea. I recently realized I only really love the catfish and hushpuppies. Instead of going in for the full plate, we ordered catfish and hushpuppies. Instead of eating like I would never eat again, I savored each bite and stopped long before I was full. I only ate two hushpuppies. If someone told me before I could only have two, I would have declared them my enemy.30
