My body surprised me today and i am counting it as a victory.I worked out with my brother and he taught me some new things and my body moved in ways i had no idea it could move and it is also now burning in places i did not know i could burn. I had a lot more fun than i would if i worked out alone. But most of all i am proud of myself for keeping up with a student athlete in excellent shape who is 9 years younger. When we were done he said " you are doing great lots of people would have given up but you tried your best and that is most important24

Absolutely!When I stand in my work trousers, my legs do not touch the sides of the fabric. Unfortunately belly is not allowing for smaller waisted trousers, so they fit round waist and then just look huge down my legs. but yay!
I have this problem too - too baggy around the thighs, but a smaller size won't do up over the belly yet!
I'm thinking I might have to start looking at slim-leg/"skinny" styles, because most of the ones I have make my legs look bigger than they really are and I don't like that any more... No more hiding in baggy clothes for me!
My problem is my butt. Pants fit like I'm wearing a diaper. I carry too much weight in my gut and it's the last place it is coming off. Down from a 52 to a 46 waist, so it has dropped, but still pants don't fit right.
I have this problem as well. I've lost yet another inch off my butt and nothing off my belly still. Everything is tight in the waist and loose in the butt and legs
I'll trade for big busted and narrow shouldered! I swear I'm melting from the top down (boobs exempted). My shoulders fit into an M, my boobs stretch an XL... It sucks!
My *kitten*, tummy and hips seem to remain undecided. I can measure the shrinkage in micrometers... :eye_roll:
I guess I really am a pear shape....8 -
Recently I went shopping at the high end clothing stores. When I was trying on shirts, I could fit a small but the length was too short for my broad shoulders, and I have a 31" waist. In the past, my waist has only been as small as a 32".
And just today, I snapped a pic of my back to see what type of progress I was making, and I was surprised. ✨❤☺

At morning standup today, the test team lead came in and plopped two giant boxes of donuts on the table Right. In. Front. Of. Me. as a thank you for recent help from the whole team. All the developers and engineers in the room had invisible Martian antennae sprouting from the tops of their heads, totally focused on those two white boxen. I'm surprised there wasn't drooling. They en masse inched closer and closer - the meeting grew disorganized - fortunately standups are limited to 10 minutes or there would have been blood. It was hilarious to watch them all, since I was not tempted in the least, and quickly got out of the way of the stampede as soon as the meeting was called. LOL!14

1) Asked my husband if he wanted to accompany me on my cycle ride today - he declined on the grounds that I am fitter than he is and he didn't want to hold me back. I even offered to do a shorter, flat ride so he could keep up but he still said no. I wasn't disappointed TBH, and I was really flattered that he's acknowledged my efforts by stating that I am fitter than he is (to put this into context, he NEVER mentions my weight, EVER). We've been together 29 years and he's always been the one who's stronger, faster and has more endurance.
2) Really, really windy today (22mph+ speeds). I stepped outside to get my bike out of the garage, almost got swept off my feet by a gust of wind so went back indoors thinking to abandon my cycle run. My husband grinned at me (in a good way) and said that I wouldn't be going out then . . . so, to prove him wrong I went straight back out and rode off into the distance (albeit much slower than usual as straight into a head wind).
Not sure if that was a good decision or a bad decision as it was pretty unpleasant - the wind was cold and blustery and really bullied me. Nearly came off a few times, such was the strength of it but I still completed ten miles by the time I got home. They were the hardest ten miles I've ever done on my bike. BUT I did them26 -
Started week 4 of C210K and on my final 5min run I missed the voice command to start walking (traffic noise) and I just kept running! Things are getting easier! yay!
I finished week 4 last week, snow shoes on the weekend and sprained a toe somehow. I could barely walk Monday this week and am pissed that I am not doing week 5 this week. Back to walking on the treadmill yesterday, but hopefully it feels better by Monday and I can go back to week 5.
Guess that's not a NSV.4 -
1) Since January 10th, I've lost over 4 inches total. I was so surprised when I measured myself yesterday!!
2) I upped my HIIT session to 25 minutes from 20 minutes this week plus upped the resistance on my elliptical. I didn't think I'd be able to do it, but I pulled through!

You're back on the treadmill and you're not giving up regardless of a 'minor' set back. That counts as a NSV in my book!8 -
A couple for me:
During a work meeting a bunch of my colleagues started asking me about my weight loss, how I have done it, and saying I looked "really slim". I'm far off slim but it was really nice for it to be noticed.
I was walking around town with my mum and she said to me "I had forgotten how fast you walked" and I realised she was struggling to keep pace with me. My mum is super fit and always outpaced me but my natural, comfortable pace is increasing with out me really noticing. It turns out all of those 5 mile walks/jogs are paying off20 -
I tried to do an indoor cardio exercise this morning (jumping jacks, jogging around my house, and running up and down the stairs) because today is the first day of a week long rain storm. I lasted about 5 minutes before I tripped running up my stairs and stubbed my big toe really bad (side note: can you sprain your toe by tripping? If you could, I would be the one to do it.) Anyway, I was bummed because of the rain for the next week and that I didn't get any sort of a work out in.
Cut to a few hours later, after I picked up my oldest from school and the rain began to break. We came home, had a snack, and went out for a bike ride/walk.
My NSV? The me from five months ago would have stayed inside and let my kids play with legos all afternoon. The new me looks for opportunities to get out of the house and get some exercise. Even if it's just a 20 minute stroll while my kid rides a bike.20 -
My granddaughter (she's 10) told me that I was pretty "skinny" for a grandma. Makes me smile every time I think about it.26

Just letting you know that you inspired me today I got off work early and couldn't decide if I wanted to go the gym, the pool, or for a x-country ski. It's -13c, getting dark, and snowing. But I love being outside so much more than the gym or pool. I thought to heck with it....if you can go for a bike ride in those conditions, then I can go for a ski! And that's what I did. For forty minutes. Thank you25 -
Small NSV today, went to store for some half & half (required for coffee)
While walking to the dairy section I was pulled into the chip aisle and spent several minutes examining some tasty new flavors. I almost went for the Pepperoncini chips from Kettle. I used to lie to myself and say I could make a bag last for several days.
Ended up with popcorn kernels in my bag, I've decided it's my new snack when I'm craving something salty.25 -

Huge NSV for me - my kids and I have all been sick on and off for weeks now, and I haven't turned to comfort food or let it derail my weight loss. In the past I would have said forget it I'll go back to dieting when we're all better. Feeling pretty proud of myself for staying away from Oreos these days31

This may be a TMI, be warned
I haven't seen a shift in the scale for weeks, months even BUT I have started strength training so attributed it to that (water weight).
HOWEVER, I can see definite changes in my appearance.
I'm starting to get a defined waistline (Me - ME!), my "bat-wings" (underarm flab) are decreasing in size AND my droopy-belly (tummy apron/overhang) is much, much smaller! I swear that a couple of days ago it was the size, shape and weight of a large melon but today it's more like a grapefruit size/shape/weight.
I have no idea where it's disappearing to as there's been no shift in weight but I'm glad it's going. I never want to see it again!39 -

Machines at the moment but I want to use free weights as my right side is weaker than my left (go figure, my right is my "dominant" side) plus my core strength is non-existant. Just waiting for a PT session to become available as I haven't a clue where to start with free weights4 -
I had a really bad start to the week. Yesterday, I did over 3 hours of exercising and stayed under my calories. Normally, a couple of bad days would throw me off. I just told myself when I was having those bad days, that we all do, and it is okay. I will get back to work when this passes.
There is a chocolate festival in our city tomorrow, and I thought it would be fun to go. After really looking into what it entails. I would get some walking in, but it is centered around chocolate and there isn't a whole lot of other things to do besides taste the chocolate. I have decided it would be smarter for me not to go. Maybe I will take the kids on a picnic instead.20 -

I experienced the same thing when I started out with resistance training--that my dominant right side was weaker than my left--made no sense to me. After about 6 months (and I've mostly shifted off machines to free weights) the right is now just slightly stronger as I would have expected (though I work them out equally of course!)
I also noticed the effect you describe with the strength training--I lost a bunch of inches in the beginning not commensurate with weight loss. It's like the training really tightened up everything, especially abs and thighs, way more than I anticipated. I guess I never realized how loosey goosey fat really is!9 -
I ENJOY running..it MOVES me and I look FORWARD to it. Although I have been working out very consistently the past 1.5 years, I only recently took up running this past Oct/Nov. I started off "fast" thinking I had "something to prove" since I see myself as this "athlete" LOL..and while I could run a 30 min 5K a few days a week, I realized I wasn't having FUN while doing it (like I do in my cardio classes)...running was becoming a "chore"...so as a couple of individuals pointed out here, I decided to slow All the way down..(WHAT was the hurry?) and concentrate more on increasing distance over time, which would eventually decrease my time naturally (from what I have read)...and also give my muscles and joints time to acclimate.... With that being said, I upped my "long" run recently to 5.5-6 miles on Sunday while running approximately 2.5-3 miles three days during the week. This schedule is Very doable - (just taking an easy run with some hills)...just NEVER saw myself being able to do it!!
Anyway all of that to say that today, I don't know what happened ....but I entered some type of ZONE. I had my music blasting away but I barely heard it...I was so intuned to my stride and breathing, more than I have been before and the miles just melted away...I am eager to see where I will be about six months from now. :-)

Usually walking my dog through our neighbourhood we will be passed by 3-4 buses bringing home the downtown office crowds. Last night we had one bus nipping at our heels but managed to keep ahead of it and not a single one passed us by. Albeit it is very likely that the bus schedules were just off ... buuuut I'd like to think that we just out-walked them and it felt soooo satisfying!!18

I recently tried on a pair of jeans which I have avoided for the past 2-3 years since trying to squeeze it up (don't even mention trying to close the button) was very depressing. I can now proudly say that I need a belt if I wish to wear them.26

I'd love to hear what you are doing on machines. I don't have the get-up-and-go yet to attempt free weights, but I am super comfortable using the machines. Glad to hear of a real-world success using them.2 -
Today at lunch I went to buy some new jeans. From a regular, non-plus sized store. The number was 20 less than my maximum size, and 16 less than I was wearing at this time last year. I also grabbed a t-shirt from the clearance rack. It's a medium. Sure, it's probably a big medium, or vanity sized or something, but it says MEDIUM, not 3X or 2X or even X.
Not gonna lie, I cried.55
