So far today I have made
-vegan brownies
-falafel
-falafel sauce
-sweet and sour meatballs
for our Super Bowl party. Last year I think I bought a bag of Doritos and a six-pack and called it a day.
P.S. Go Pats!22 -
I bought my first workout outfit today as I'm enjoying my jogging and need appropriate clothing. I ENJOY jogging! Never thought I would say that.28

My workout T is looser and my thighs no longer touch.24

Christmas leggings that I got back in Dec. fit better.15

Finally got to the end of this thread. Thank you all for sharing - what an inspiration you are!
2 NSV's for me. I wore a shirt today that I bought just a touch too small weeks ago, and got compliments on how great it looks! It's fitting perfectly or even a little big today. Then I wanted to stop by Five Guys for a burger on the way home from work. I suppose I could have fit it into my calories, but I eventually opted to come home and have a bowl of homemade soup instead. I feel so much better now than if I'd eaten out. There's nothing like cozy soup on a bitter-cold day... and now I have more room in my diary for Super Bowl snacks17 -

my trainer wears them to run and the weather hasnt' slowed him down at all.
for me, it's usually bike with the studded snow tires, but this was an aberrant situation i'm just happy to have gotten out of feeling as good as i do.

Not very good at taking measurements yet, but I think I lost a couple inches on my belly & hips. Jeans are looser and I'm not popping open buttons on my shirts like I used to, when I would sit down.12

1) I slept really badly last night and did not want to get up today. The alarm went off at 5am and I just wanted to kill it. But I didn't, i dragged my sorry self out of bed and headed off to the gym. Started my cardio and decided that I really didn't want to do it, it was such a struggle
But I carried on somehow and did my full workout. I have no idea how I did it as I wanted to stop after every movement. Ugh. The worst workout ever.
Got home and filled up on scrambled eggs and bacon, had a small doze on the sofa and felt loads better. I then took my daughter to see the ducks (who were very happy with the food we took them) and went out for a bike ride.
2) My husband offered biscuits to my children and left the box beside me, of all people. However, I resisted the temptation, even though I really wanted one. I had an apple instead22 -

I just hated the thought of you slipping on the ice and hurting yourself. We have stuff to do........Goals to reach.....NSV's to discover!!! Good job on making it home. Especially with that heavy backpack!4 -
Ran a 5K this morning and beat my previous best time by almost 2 minutes.30

Hubby commented cheerfully that he can get his arms around me so far when hugging me now, that he can touch his opposite elbows. He then proceeded to demonstrate how far he could reach by tickling me, and nearly got (accidentally) headbutted in the face for his trouble...!25

Great job everyone! This is so inspirational.
I essentially "de-scaled" myself last year and bounced around a bit on maintenance calories.
- This past week I've been able to do 10 push-ups! (OK, I do them on my knees and it is not pretty, but I couldn't do any 30 days ago.)
- Went shopping and tried on a size small jacket for a chuckle, and it fit! Didn't buy it, but I could have. I did buy some small slacks, though.
- I have logged for 667 days, just got past the "evil" number. Ha!
Keep them coming!

I put on my Swimsuit, today, looked in the mirror and did not absolutely hate what I saw. My career as a supermodel ain't comin' round any time soon... but, I look a darned sight better than I did a year ago.54

I noticed the last few days I forgot to zip my pants up. I think because tbey fasten easily now without a big gape!15

This is great what sort of training are you doing free weights or machines
Machines at the moment but I want to use free weights as my right side is weaker than my left (go figure, my right is my "dominant" side) plus my core strength is non-existant. Just waiting for a PT session to become available as I haven't a clue where to start with free weights
I'd love to hear what you are doing on machines. I don't have the get-up-and-go yet to attempt free weights, but I am super comfortable using the machines. Glad to hear of a real-world success using them.
@fitoverfortymom
I've not been doing them for long, since mid-December of last year. I do 2 x 12 reps on each machine:
Hip Adductor/Abductor (80/65lbs)
Abdominal Crunch (55lbs)
Diverging Lat Pulldown (50lbs)
Triceps Press (60lbs)
Leg Extension (25lbs)
Arm Curl (22.5lbs)
Converging Chest Press (25lbs)
Lateral Pull (55lbs)
Shoulder Press (10lbs)
Leg Press (65lbs)
Lateral Raise (20lbs)
Pec Fly (20lbs)
Seated Leg Curl (45lbs)
I've not been doing them for long, since mid-December of last year. I increase the weights whenever it seems "easy" to lift that particular weight; if it's a huge effort to move the weights towards the end of the sets then I carry on at that weight for a few more days. Once it eases, I move it up a bit.
I have no idea if what I'm doing is correct but it appears to be working for now, and I figure that something is better than nothing. I want to move into the free weights (once I can fit in a PT session) as one side is weaker than the other and my core is so weak that press-ups/planks are nothing short of laughable.
But I'll get there, given time
Thank you!1 -
There's a brand of tank tops I like from a particular store. I tried on the smallest plus size version AND the largest regular size version, and the regular size version FIT way better. Instead of a 1x, I bought FOUR new tank tops in size XL. Also, they were BOGO 1/2 off and the regular sizes were a whole $2 cheaper per shirt!26

Joined the Reddit Fitbit League five weeks ago.
The league is split into divisions to where the winners move up through the divisions thus facing stiffer competition each week.
I won the top division challenge and set a new league record with over a quarter million steps.

Two: One new, one old.
Today, I was having trouble getting my heart rate monitor to work, so I decided to tighten the chest-strap band. Even though I've rinsed it after each use as per product instructions, the elastic part of the strap was totally cemented to the slide-buckles with salt. Guess it's seen a little action!
In the Fall, my old college room-mate reconnected via Facebook. She now mostly lives in the UK, while I'm here in Michigan/US, so I haven't seen her since shortly after college - early 1980s. She visited here for an event, so we got together for a walk & dinner.
When I bounced into her hotel lobby, one of the first things she said was "well, you've managed to stay slim all these years, anyway." I admitted the truth, that I'd been obese until about a year before, and later showed her the before & after pics. But I guess the loose skin appearance I'd worried about (including face & neck) isn't really a big thing, to the casual observer.39 -
I could pull my pants on and off without unbuttoning them. Needless to say, it was time for a smaller size.22

I take a prescription medication twice daily and the childproofing cap was always really hard for me to open. In the past couple weeks since I started lifting, opening it has been noticeably super easy! I think this is so crazy lol18

I had a similar thing a few days ago when taking a six-pint bottle of milk out of the fridge - I used what I thought was my "usual" amount of strength and the bottle went flying. My son looked at me and wondered what the heck I was doing, until I explained what had happened . . . Then he laughed and said that I'd be able to pick him up soon (no chance, he's bigger than me).17 -
My favourite jeans aren't as tight!19

After losing 4 kg only, I see myself a bit thinner in the mirror and it feels so good mostly on the legs and belly, so I'm wearing a tight skirt tonight19

I can run again28

Mate hugged me in greeting yesterday, stepped back and said 'where have you gone?!'
felt good!
and I guilted him into starting gym again (he wanted to anyway), but he saw the teeny tiny definition on my biceps and got bit jealous, he had massive definition a few months ago!16 -
I got my A1C down to 5.3!!! That's a non-diabetic number, from a woman who has been as high as 8.4. Yes, I still take the Metformin for blood sugar, but I've had to cut back because I'm starting to get blood sugar lows. Huh - I guess the doctors were right all along - Eat better, lose weight, exercise consistently and I can beat diabetes. Whooda thunk it?44

The doctors?
But I'm in a similar boat... my LDL was through the roof... just losing weight helped get it down to levels where the doctor's comment was "we'll see how it goes with continued weight loss before we do anything with medications". If I can get either that one down some more or the HDL up to correct the ratio between the two (which is what's actually causing her worry currently), then she'll be more than happy.13 -
I need to start gathering some smaller "goal" pants. because as of yesterday I officially fit into my smallest pair of jeans (size 12) I wouldn't wear them in public quite yet butttt give me a week or two.
I also started doing some strength training mostly every day (rotating muscle groups and such) about 4 weeks ago and since that time I feel like people have reallyyyyyy started to notice that I'm losing weight... which funnily enough I haven't really lost an weight since I started. It must just be helping everything tighten up!19 -
Bit of a weird victory, but my neck looks fantastic now, and I'm getting more definition in my shoulders! And now I look really good in those ribbon chokers that are in style now.16

I got a haircut Saturday, 7" of hair gone! I consider it a NSV because when I started gaining weight I kept my hair long because I thought it made my face look thinner and it was easier to hide behind. Now that I'm down 50 lbs I don't feel the need to hide behind tons of hair42
