Yesterday went on my morning run and its getting darker now. I was crossing the road and almost got hit by a car but they saw me in time but still , and then 5 mins later tripped and rolled on the footpath and got some minor scrapes but instead of letting it be an excuse to stop I got up and kept running lol. Felt triumphant at the end...wowsers who am I?
Note to self: go and buy a reflective vest LOL35 -
I have had such a horrible day . . . was late getting up and going to (therefore late getting back from also) the gym - only got half my workout done as was on a tight schedule today. Don't you just hate it when your day starts off badly?
I then had to go to the next city to see my consultant. Who wasn't availalbe as he was covering someone else's clinic. That annoyed me as he's the only doctor I trust there. Had to see a registrar (who I've seen before and wasn't too impressed by) who promptly decided to double my meds as the dose I'm on isn't working too well (not what I wanted but little choice in the matter as no alternative apart from living in pain).
Then I was told by the physio team that they'd messed up a referral from three months ago and it's been rejected. I've now got to see my GP to get that sorted and I can't see her for over a week. More delay in getting something pretty urgent sorted out - they could have phoned me to tell me instead of waiting until I saw them today.
Then I missed the train back and had to hang around for ages for the next train But I took a book with me; I thought it was the next one in a series I'm reading but when I started to read it I found that there's a book at home between the one I've just finished and the one I took with me.
Got home and found that none of the housework had been done. In fact there was no evidence of anything having been done all day, which was a bit annoying as if I'd been at home whilst DH was at the hospital, I'd have done the cleaning etc.
Husband took the children swimming and drove off with the garage key. I couldn't get my bike out and it was a lovely afternoon for a cycle. He then came home in a really foul mood = major row . . .
Nothing for dinner so had to go to the supermarket (yawn). DH refused to eat his (I'm only bothered about the wasted food, he could have told me that he wasn't going to eat it then I wouldn't have cooked it).
Made some silly food choices as well, so I'm pretty angry with my lack of will-power.
Horrible, niggly, miserable day.
So there I was, 9pm at night, trying to find something good about today. I looked at my step count and it said 29,043. So, to make myself feel better about a disastrous day, I decided to make it hit 30,000. So I went for a short walk in the dark and cold . . . only to find that it was raining as well. It was NOT going to get the better of me so I got soaked as well
HOWEVER - take a look at this:
This is the first time my tracker has hit such a number! So I am going to bed on a positive note that will hopefully carry on tomorrow At least I'll get my bike ride . . .

This is going to sound odd, but it is the absolute truth, in 7 weeks of exercising I seem to have grown 1cm taller.20

Are you standing straighter because you have more confidence?
(Might possibly be time of day as well... we're taller first thing in the morning than after we've been on the go all day. Still a bit odd, though! )
Also, @Madwife2009 - sorry to hear you had such a miserable day! Some days are like that, aren't they, it just seems to be one thing after another. I hope you have a much nicer day tomorrow! (And that your physio referral gets sorted out quickly.)4 -

I went to Costco today and got a 50 pound bag of rice into the cart, into my truck, and into my kitchen all by myself. Then it occurred to me that I am 2 lbs from losing 50 pounds, the same weight as that huge, heavy bag of rice. Wow!
As it is raining today I wore my boots for the first time in a few weeks and had to fiddle with the bows so I wouldn't trip over the excessively long laces. The same laces I had to buy after finding the original laces couldn't lace up to the top eyes in my boots.29 -

Not sure if that was a good decision or a bad decision as it was pretty unpleasant - the wind was cold and blustery and really bullied me. Nearly came off a few times, such was the strength of it but I still completed ten miles by the time I got home. They were the hardest ten miles I've ever done on my bike. BUT I did them
Just letting you know that you inspired me today I got off work early and couldn't decide if I wanted to go the gym, the pool, or for a x-country ski. It's -13c, getting dark, and snowing. But I love being outside so much more than the gym or pool. I thought to heck with it....if you can go for a bike ride in those conditions, then I can go for a ski! And that's what I did. For forty minutes. Thank youridiculous59 wrote: »Madwife2009 wrote: »1)

I've come on here to thank you too @Madwife2009 my bike has been sat in my hallway for 4 months -I bought it last year and rode it a fair bit over the summer but the more time passes, the more I lose my confidence. I keep seeing you talking about cycling and I have been very jealous! So yesterday the husband and I took our bikes out and rode 20 miles, it was hilly, and my bum hurts today. But I did not die, I did not forget to unclip and fall off. I remember now how much I love my bike and so I'm going to go out again very soon (once my bum has recovered). Thank you xx10 -
@starryeyedsnoozer
Thank you for your kind words! I well remember the starting-cycling-sore-bum-syndrome, you have me deepest empathy on that one. I found that the best cure was bathing often and getting back in the saddle as much as possible (or as much as the sorene@starryeyedsnoozer
I'm going out of the bike again later, rain or no. Can't wait after missing both yesterday (as my bike was incarcerated) and Monday as the weather was atrocious.4 -

when I lost 50 pounds, I tried to pick up the 50 lb weight at the gym... No dice. How did I carry that much around on my body without noticing it?! congrats on your loss15 -
My goal for weight loss is about 65 lbs (24 remaining). I'm seriously considering finding something that weighs that much and putting it right next to my bedroom mirror. I don't ever want to forget what I'll have achieved and what it took to do it.20

A water cooler bottle weighs 41 pounds and I have lost just over two of them. Every time I carry one up the stairs at work to our coffee room I am utterly amazed at what i've done. It's good to be reminded and definitely motivating18 -
I fit in XL scrub pants when only about 5 months ago, a 2XL was about busting at the seams!28

I've been carrying my 50 pound costco water softener salt bags down to the basement TWO at a time! Why? To remind me what it felt like carrying around 90 pounds. And because I can. Because heavy squats and deadlifts have made me strong.
Looks like I'm not the only one who considers a trip to Costco a workout!22 -
Despite wind, rain, mist, cold, stroppy teenagers, a grumpy husband, and people in cars who really shouldn't be (!) I went for my cycle ride today.
That is all.29 -

I'm down another pants size I'm at 34x32 I started at size 38x32 back in August.26

One of the guys at work is leaving the company at the end of the week. It's traditional that the person leaving (well if it's voluntary...) brings something in to work to 'celebrate' the leaving.
He brought boxes of chocolates (as in enough chocolate to feed everyone in the company twice over)... my favorites too.
I took one (made room for it in my budget, it's 125kcal for one), took it back to my desk and then promptly forgot all about it. It's still sitting on my desk right now... and I'm at home.
Guess I'll have it tomorrow
Two years ago, I would have not only eaten it, but swiped about a dozen more for 'later'...28 -
I stepped on the scale to realize that I have not dropped an ounce since January! I was so mad at myself but I went to the gym and ran 4 extra minutes than I normally do and upped my arm weight to 15 lbs than 10. I'm proud of myself because even if I can't tell a difference in the scale I can tell a difference in endurance and that's a win in my books!49

@kimv1188 - thank you, you're very sweet and it's lovely of you to take the time to say this. I'm nothing special though, I just tell it like it is (mostly - sometimes I have to bite my tongue a little, sometimes a lot!).

Siegfried, I love seeing your NSVs because it's so obvious how affected you are by them, and how much they motivate and inspire you... it's wonderful to see! I hope your partner is as proud of you as we are!
Thank you so much @SueSueDio. This whole process has been about building the momentum and enjoying the journey. And yes, my partner is very proud of me. He's taking me to Vegas next weekend to celebrate, in moderation of course, along with his mother who is visiting us. Of course, now after this NSV, he can ask me to sit in the backseat for part of the trip.14 -
I'm a fairly new runner. I started with walking/running and running downhills. For the last two days, I've been timing my running so that I'm running up hills. I don't always make it all the way, but a month ago I wouldn't have been able to make it as far up the hills as I do now.28

Awesome, enjoy the trip! That last bit would suck though, I get travel-sick in the back...3 -
My husband commented that his shirts were wearing out and being a man he absolutely will not go shopping. So, I moved all my mens clothes into his part of the closet. The XLs were too big for me anyways and the larges fit but look frumpy. I can't believe I'm the same size, maybe even a little smaller, than my husband! Next goal will be to weigh less than him.28

I held a plank for a minute and a half at my fitness class today! I was shaking like crazy, but did it! Felt pretty good considering I'm just now finally back to my pre-holiday weight.
The instructor also told me that I looked good and she could tell I've lost "so much weight!" She's a classmate, so we've known each other since before I started losing and before I started going to her classes.29 -
Tried on a size 9 pair of jeans today. They were tight but I could zip them up. Just few more pounds and I should be there!26

I wore a leather miniskirt in public today. For the first time ever. And I felt awesome.48
