Still trying to get my body used to going to bed at a decent hour and getting up early. Guess it will take awhile to make the turn around from nights. Meantime, my energy level is noticeably increasing and I don't seem to be craving carbs when I am not constantly sleep deprived. That said, I have been awake since 2 a.m. and have been craving them all day! So I am going to try taking a power nap before church tonight.0

Hi Ladies:
There are lots of posts since I was last here, far too many to catch up on!! I see there are newcomers again, so welcome.
Viv -- glad your surgery went well and you are feeling alright, I hope your recovery goes smoothly.
To those of you that are still losing weight, good for you!! For those of you, like me, that are in a rut, let's hope that we can soon get out of it and get moving again!!
I will try and catch up later, but I wanted to let you know I was still around and kicking
It is unbearably hot here these days and tomorrow it is to hit close to 48 celsius with the humidex (which would be about 125 on the farenheit scale) so it will be hot, hot, hot!!!!
I have to babysit 2 of the grandkids this weekend so that will be fun; I love having them, she is 5 and he is almost 4 and they keep you moving that is for sure.
Anyway, I am swamped at work these days and in the evenings I am working on the books for one of my son's business so it seems I have no time for anything but I thought I better take a few moments to touch base and let you know I am still around.
Talk to you soon. Take care Everyone.
Love, Cathy xx0 -
PAM and everyone, I did sleep last night, and talked to the doctor this morning, and he told me I could take celebrex until next Tuesday, then I have to stop... he said the celebrex acts differently than other nsaids like advil and alieve and asprin.. so I only have to deal with ONE week of no celebrex which has helped me get thru the day and night.
I still weighed the same, couple of ounces less, nothing significant, I imagine that I will lose some more during and after surgery because of loss of appetite...

have a good night.

Hi everyone
 Feel a bit sickly this morning. My boob was quite swollen last night so I took an anti inflamatory which has helped a bit, took another one this morning so not sure if it is the pills that have made me feel sick or not.
:flowerforyou: Barbie good luck with the house move, it sounds as if you are organised, I'm so pleased you are on the move at last.
I was looking back at all the posts I'd missed and noticed one from Mary Anne recommending meno herbs with red clover for hot flushes. Thanks for that Mary Anne I'll look out for that when I next go into town, or I may look on line a bit later.
 Can't believe I have put on about 3lbs in the last few days! Must be all the sitting around I'm doing, I did go over calories yesterday, but feeling as I do today I'm sure I'll stay under. I've already logged my food for the day, so I'm telling myself this is it nothing else shall pass my lips. I just hope once the sickness passes that I don't get an attack of the munchies.
Well I think I'll go for a lie down for a few mins.
Have a good day everyone - Bye for now

Didn't do something right..... tried to comment on someone's post.... didn't work. :-( I'm guessing now that you can't do that.
In the lower right of each post are options: Report Post/Quote/Reply--if you click on Quote it will bring up that post and then you can reply--be sure to stay out of the quote field or your reply will be in the blue box.
Viv (and others facing/going through surgery)--at first after surgery you will see a gain. That is from the IV fluids and from your body healing. It is temporary so don't let it get you down!
Take care, Viv and let yourself heal!
Have a good day, everyone (and WELCOME! to all our newbies!)0 -
Viv,
My daughter just had surgery Monday. She gained 10 lbs. I agree with Kathy, it is the fluids that they give you. Give it a few days, you will notice a difference.
Good Luck, and I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Well,Yesterday I made a huge mistake. On Wednesdays I watch my 2 grandkids. So we went to the local amusement park (Cedar Point) and to the Water Park (Soak City). I wasn't thinking about the amusement park part of it when I was getting ready so I wore flip flops. By the time we got to the Water Park side I could barely walk. I now have blisters on the balls of my feet. I ended up in my slippers for the rest of the day. Now today is my Treadmill day and I can't do it. I am so mad at myself, as much as I hate that treadmill, I need to keep at it or I know I will just start using it as a clothes hanger again.
Any one have any ideas on how to get rid of blisters faster than just letting them heal? I need to be able to walk in shoes again.:sad:0 -
Hello everyone, any ideas on some exercise that does not involve using my right knee? I slipped in some mud on Saturday and sprained my right knee badly. I have to wear a knee brace and stay off of it for a few more days. I tell you, the older I get the clumsier I get.0

I had a horrid nights sleep, big pain, have no idea why.... the night before was good, last night was AWFUL, can't explain to you the pain I was in. I took VICODIN at 10 am, Midnight, and 2 am,, should not have taken so close together, tonight I was told to take TWO vicoden before bed... an hour before to get it working...
Anyway, weight is same... stopped the iron pills, they were making me NOT go potty... horrid cramps.. no more IRON PILLS>

Hi everyone! Between being sick and have my computer crash I've missed tons of posts. I'm borrowing this computer so this will have to be a short message. My psych doc changed my meds and added a new one. I had horrible side effects not the least being non-stop eating. In the few days I was on them I gained five pounds. Very frustrating! He took me off those and started me on a different one, much better. The insane craving for food is almost gone and I'm doing much better. One thing I don't understand is that I gained five pounds but lost an 1 1/2 inches. Oh well I'll take it.
I want to wish all new comers welcome.
Hope to catch up on posts but might not be able to until I get my computer back from the shop and get my info in it. We lost all the memory on the hard drive. Tough lesson to learn but I think backup has become my middle name.
God Bless everyone. Have a great day.0 -
Boy did I need a pep talk from myself this morning. I kept looking at the treadmill and it kept staring back at me. Taunting me to climb on and I kept resisting. Finally I couldn't take it any longer. I hate that machine. It scared me to death everytime I got on it. I would stare at the clock and the distance and swear I couldn't last more than 5 minutes and there was no way I was taking my hands off those handles. Heck isnt that what they are there for?? :noway: I have managed 30 minutes on it, but I never tried to go any longer and usually at 2 mph..
I finally told myself today that I wasn't going to get anywhere if I didn't get back on there and make myself go further than I had before. So after much trepidation I did it. I turned on my radio, got my kindle and a bottle of water and jumped on. I set it at 2.5 mph and started walking. No staring at the time, no staring at the distance and before I know it I was over a mile and more than half an hour. I felt great. I kept going and at the hour mark and 2.5 miles later I stopped. I figured, that was a good point to see how my body would react to it. I got off and I feel great. This body can do it, I can push past the pain and the sweat (I hate sweat) I will conquer this machine if it is the last thing I do. And hopefully while doing so I will lose some weight to go with it. But for now, just knowing I can last 1 hour is enough for me.0 -
Oh dear Jeanne, what a shame about your computer.
I always feel awful when mine goes haywire..thankfully I have an excellent fella who calls and puts it right quite quickly as I don't have a clue what to do... mind it does cost £25 per visit.
Welcome to Vicki. Hope you enjoy the camaraderie on here, it's fab.0 -
Denise, good job. It`s amazing what we can do when we set our minds to it.
feel better Jeanne.
everyone else have a great day!!

Went to PT this morning, they iced it, massaged the leg/knee, and did some warm ultrasound treatment. I did take the 2 vicodin last night, did sleep most of the night, woke up to potty several times, started on colace to soften stuff up, and hoping I will get some relief, OFF the IRON pills, nasty stuff, plugged me all up.
Lost another 2 oz.... nothing significant.

It's been a busy couple of days! I hope everyone is doing well. I got to the gym today...early because it was very hot here this afternoon.
I've tried to increase my water with all this heat. Yesterday I traveled to a funeral that was a three hour drive away. While there I had a small plain salad at the collation afterward and then we drove back to RI (another 3.5 hours). By the time I got home I was tired and very hungry. My husband and I went out to grab dinner and I ordered a lobster roll...definitely not a good choice.
I need to plan some meals that are No Cooking for this time of the year. I cannot put the oven on....even the stovetop is too hot.
Have a good night!0 -
Good morning my friends.
I'm flagging a little today - feel like I need a massage, a caffeine boost and a holiday in the sun.
Tomorrow is the christening of my gorgeous grandtwins and I'm doing all the prep for that. DH is going to have to leave straight after the service as he is hoping to get down to see his father before he passes. It will be an emotional day for us all.
I've accidentally lost another three pounds this week. I'm not very happy about it as I'm trying to maintain and I know that I'm losing because I'm not eating properly. I'm not going to change my ticker just yet, as I'd like to stabilise first.
Got to run. But I send my thoughts and love to you all.
Have a good weekend if you possibly can.
Love

Good Morning Ladies
I haven't been on since March and have stayed the same. I'm going through tough times and It just does not seem to be getting better. I have so much to say, but just do not have the energy to type it all. All I can say is that I'm lonely with very little money because I'm not working and just living off my husbands retirement check and it hasn't been easy. We are still watching over my Dad, who lives alone but doing ok. His memory is a little off but does so well with all the help from family. I want to lose this weight but over eating at night just does not seem to be stopping. I have a thyroid problem and that has gotten me in a lazy slump, but it seems I TRY,every day to get better. I am not the happy lady that I was way back in 2009 when I lost my lowest weight in years So, I'm trying to get back on track with the help of all of you!
Barbie I know you are my rock on this site and will be a friend forever.!
It will be one year August 26th that I lost my lovely mother (my rock), and it is still hard for me to believe she is gone.
Every week my husband will say we have to get back into the gym but, I say yes and don't get there. I need you all to help me.

Hello all..... It's the last week of July and I thought I would be further in my loss of these unwanted pounds.... Between the summertime cookouts and vacay I went from being at a plateau to gaining 3 lbs last week and made myself get on the scale even though I honestly did not want to b/c was afraid but then I chilled out and got on the scale and came to terms that getting on the scale is actually a good thing to not completely lose track of myself.... I was not logging as good as I should this past month and now It's been a week now that I have logged every single thing and need to keep doing that (including my social beverages and fitting them into my day without guilt)......Now that the crackers chips peanuts and other bad things are gone from my cabinet that I brought back with me from vacay they are NOT entering my cabinet for awhile as it is sooo easy to just reach in and start binging. Out of site out of mind for me....Been on this site since January of this year and I need to stay true and stay FOCUSED!!!! Thanks to everyone for your support and love!!0

Hi everyone. Just a quick post to say thanks to all of you for sharing on this board....the good and the bad. It helps to know I am not alone when I struggle and that there are those who will rejoice in any victory I have, no matter how small. I am cheering all of us on and praying esp. for those who are experiencing weakness against moments of temptation. I know that trap well, having been an emotional eater a long, long time. The comfort it gives is fleeting, the self-loathing is long-lasting. Thankfully, we can come here for a self-confidence boost, listening ears when we want to vent or rant, encouraging words, tips and advice, a good laugh or two, and maybe a way to give back by reaching out to someone else in need. I believe I can reach my goals because of you guys!
Today is a "get ready for vacation day"...can't stand to leave a messy house behind, as I don't want to come home to it later. So first order of the day has been cleaning and laundry. We don't leave until Monday, so I have time to get things done. Taking a break now for a mid-morning snack. A friend has given me fresh peaches off her tree and they are superb! I love this time of year for fresh fruits and veggies from the orchard or garden.
Hope your weekend is FantabulousMcWow!
Blessings,
Cathy0 -

Hi everyone !:flowerforyou:
A new member. I read this post since a couple of days but I was a little bit shy to jump in but here I am.
I'm 52 and retired from family practice physician for health condition since 3 years. I live alone forever with my two lovely dogs, my children as I tell them.
I'm a French Canadian from Québec Province so my English may sound funny sometimes but I make big efforts. I keep Webster's and Harrap's dictionary near my computer and use them a lot. I apologise for all the mistakes I'm going to make in the future. :blushing:
On MFP since a little more than a month, I have lost 5 pounds already. I'm very happy but have expected more.
My strength is I changed totally my nutrition since a month. I'm very proud of it and not ashamed anymore of my diary.
My weakness is: I don't move. I really don't. I stick to my computer all day (looking for exercise programs and gadgets:noway: ) searching forum and the web and playing games. It is so hard to me to move. I don't have the motivation and I'm not in good shape. I began Leslie Samsone walking video this week but I stopped because of the heat. I bought myself a rower 2 months ago and I did a lot in the beginning but I over exerted myself and I had to stop for 3 weeks. I now stay sit for so long that I can't use my rower because of my sore buttock. Every excuse is good to do nothing.
They say you can only improve one habit at a time. Now for me it is time for this one but I would like to have some help. If anyone can share experience on how they get thru this I would appreciate greatly.
I like the atmosphere on this post. You are genuine women struggling with life issues and you are in my thoughts for already a couple of days.
Have a nice day everyone and I my thoughts are with you.:flowerforyou:

NIKI!hi!Getting motivated is hard at times.Be proud of the changes you have made so far.Everything doesn`t happen at once.
Maybe scheduling some exercise a day.Start slow and work up. Maybe just a walk.Try little things, like stairs instead of elevators.
If i find an exercise you enjoy, you are more apt to do it.
Making friends online, has helped with my motivation.
I`m glad you posted today.I know this has helped me.
Have a good day!
