okay so a few things
1. I actually bought a bikini, actually I bought two of them
2. I tried them on and they fit pretty good and I didn't hate the way I looked
3. I SHOWED PEOPLE THE PICTURES I TOOK IN THEM! which is a big deal.
4. I was speaking with a friend of mine last night (we have dinner on Wednesday's) I was wearing leggings and a tank top and she said it was super noticeable how much smaller I looked and said I looked like I had lost another 20 lbs. Which I haven't in the time frame she was speaking about. She also told me I look like I weigh like 160, which I do not. I told her I weigh 193 and she told me to buy a new scale because there was literally no way that was true. AND she commented that she could really see the muscle definition in my legs!!!!! Which made me feel awesome! I've always had bigger legs because they're very strong but I have always felt a little self conscious of that because sometimes I feel like they just look chunky but she was very adamant that she could see muscle definition in them even when I was just standing there!!!! ALL OF THOSE SQUATS ARE PAYING OFF!!!! I mean so are the rest of the exercises but I do love those squats!
I love squats too!! This is literally the first time in my entire life that I actually like how my legs look and have muscle definition & shapely legs instead of just chubby squishy chunky thighs!! Thank you squats!!! (And deadlifts and lunges and step ups)12 -

I'm so close to loving my legs 100%!!! there's just a little chunk on my inner thigh that i'd like to firm up a bit and then they are there! Now if my stomach could just cooperate a little better
ALSO a NSV I can now wear a 12 comfortably.16 -
Not sure this is a "victory", but it just happened: after losing almost 50lbs I was walking across the lobby of my employment all the while feeling my underwear sliding down! This may be a long day Guess I should go shopping
Ha, this is the worst, isn't it?! I mean it's a great sign but a strange thing to have to put up with all day. I had to buy new underwear as well as socks a couple months ago. My socks also wouldn't stay up. And my loafers barely stay on my feet. Enjoy lingerie shopping!7 -
I've gone to the gym every morning for three weeks. I'm not calorie counting at the moment and whilst I have put on "6" kilos since stopping the counting i've now reached a happy slow bulk.13

I splurged on some really nice running shoes. I've never bought sneakers for more than 30$ before... But I have plenty of heels and wedges in higher price ranges.20
-
I've been running for about 15 years on and off, and have always enjoyed entering races even though I'm not particularly fast. But on Saturday I ran a 5k race and somehow managed to finish third in my age group. First time I've ever been placed. I'm ridiculously chuffed about it. My prize was a beer koozie with "Top Finisher" emblazoned on it. I'm still grinning like an idiot.45

I got chased by zombies in the 4th km of my run halfway up a hill and got away!30

I was told I look slimmer!
First time someone said that!26 -
Going thrift shopping this weekend because my size 13 pants are falling off me!!23

Swagger on SueSue! Round here, we Strut!
Heh - I would have said that "strutting" is what I did the day before my interview when I took the new boots out for a test drive. It definitely makes me feel very different to be wearing heels like that!I have also noticed that I can wear heels more comfortably and they also really give me a sense of confidence and sassy-ness.
I also strut when I'm feeling myself particularly well. like yesterday and today. It feels good to be so confident doesn't it!
"Sassy" is a good word for it... yep, I think I was feeling quite sassy! Self-confidence is something I've not had a great deal of over the past few years, so it's a bit odd and takes some getting used to! But it does indeed feel good - I certainly walk taller and feel more "free" on days when I'm feeling good about myself now.
When I was in my twenties I had a pair of bright red stilettos which I absolutely loved. I kind of want another pair like that...
A couple more little things:
I had a "reassessment" with my chiropractor's assistant yesterday, and mentioned that losing weight seems to have helped my back pain a good deal. She said "Yeah, you've lost a LOT!", and asked how much. When I told her 55lbs, her eyebrows nearly took off and she said, "That's like a whole child!" Thinking about having lost a small person is a different way of looking at it, I guess! And she'd never said anything to me about it, even though I go every 3-4 weeks, so it was kind of nice to know that she HAD noticed.
I've been doing a lot of sorting out of the stuff in my basement over the past week, involving much standing, walking back and forth, bending, stretching, and moving boxes. I've been trying to practice squatting instead of bending to rummage in boxes or to lift things, and to get up without using my hands to push off the floor like I always had to in the past. I've been doing quite well with that, and although I can't always balance well when doing it I feel like it's getting easier. I did notice, though, that after about three days of this my thighs really hurt when I tried to squat down with the cats' breakfast dishes! I guess I must have actually been working some muscles for a change... I felt a bit stiff for a while, but once I got moving again it wore off and I was fine. I tried to take a "day off" from that yesterday, but after a couple of hours or so at my computer I felt SO stiff and achy when I got up that I decided I needed to try and be a bit more active around the house than I'd really wanted to be...!14 -

I measure my weight loss in dogs! For example, I've currently lost the same weight as our largest and smallest dogs together. Lol. It makes it more real when you pick them up and go wow I've really lost that much??16 -

From the Elephant Penis thread, 55 lbs is a 5000 BTU Air Conditioner that you were lugging around with you everywhere. The penis is next in your achievements
http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/660835/ive-lost-an-elephant-penis/p1
55 pounds = a 5000 BTU air conditioner
60 pounds = an elephants penis
66 pounds = fats and oils an average American eats in a year
70 pounds = an Irish Setter11 -
I was actually able to find pants on the clearance rack in my new size. I had gotten used to never finding things in my sizes when I was XL and slightly above. Now I can walk to the other side of the rack and have choices . My mind is still having to adjust from looking in the plus sizes to looking more toward the juniors department in Walmart.18

My lower tummy is the part of me that grows the fastest and shrinks the slowest. At the point where my jeans button is, there's a defined indent in the fat from the fabric, it's the exact shape of two corners of jeans (hope that makes sense!) Or should I say.......WAS a defined indent!!! I was laying in bed the other day and I touched it, and it's getting less and less defined!!! I actually let my husband touch it to make sure I wasn't dreaming!!! Sounds silly, I know! But realizing that it could go away (it always seemed a permanent part of me) gave me such a boost!!!21

My NSV: I lost weight while on vacation and eating every meal out at restaurants. I told myself in advance that I would be content with maintaining my weight over vacation, but I definitely did not want to backslide. I kept up my workouts, did my best to make sensible menu choices, and even had a couple glasses of wine. I felt great! Two pound loss on the scale this morning and my kids said "You look taller!" (I think the slimmer me is registering as taller).22

I'm really ... happy?!
I've been sick for a long time (10+ yrs) and weight loss has been really, really hard. I've literally thought about it and worked on it for a decade, and just within the last year I've gotten well enough that I've been able to lose. As I lost, I realized something was really off. I guess after being ill for so long and then finally feeling better ... I don't know ... I realized I should see a therapist, and after several months he suggested a psychiatrist for medication. This was NOT something I wanted to do, but after a while I was desperate enough to give it a shot. It's been awful -- 8 wks of feeling sick and certainly not better mentally. I was ready to give up on it earlier this week. That is, until the last few days. I'm a little worried it's a fluke, but I felt good W, Th, and so far today; I just got back from the gym, and am about to get on the train for work -- feeling very good.
It's so easy to give up -- on fitness, weight loss, etc. It's so easy to accept a new normal. This thread is great: it's fantastic getting to see how everyone keeps pushing, going for it ... and getting what they want in life. Go us! (OK, corny, and now I have to leave for the train! )37 -
I've not been in a swimming pool in many many years but I signed up for the Diabetes UK #swim22 challenge to swim the equivalent of the English Channel in 3 months from 22nd Feb. This week I've swum 1.8 of 22 miles. I'm so proud of myself and wish I knew before what a great calorie burner swimming was.
And nobody seemed to care or look at me so all the being seen in a swimming costume anxiety was entirely unnecessary.24 -
#1 - I finished week 2 of C25K today, while I still have a long way to go I am excited since I barely survived w1d1!
#2 - I grabbed a shirt out of my dresser today that I *love* but haven't been able to wear since I bought it since it was always too small and it fits great!17 -
Today is my "official" weigh in day (I weigh daily but only record my Friday weight on MFP) and the scale didn't move at all so I'm celebrating a NSV instead.
I've always loved vintage clothes and I love sewing but when you have a 37.5" waist it is nearly impossible to find any vintage sewing patterns that fit. Over the past two weeks I've been buying up all the vintage sewing patterns I can find at estate sales and thrift stores because some of them actually fit me now that I've lost almost 6" off my waist! I'm pretty sure most of the ones that don't fit now will by the time I reach my ultimate goal weight.27 -
not sure why i find this a NSV but last night i went sleep walking and my fitbit picked up on 4k steps at 3am. Curious if that means i left my house since theres not alot of room to walk in here...But yay exercise XD
Edit: Also yesterday i got called tiny by multiple people it was a great feeling XD And someone picked me up one handed....Hated it but no one could have lifted me even 2 handed at 232 pounds XD18 -
I might be imagining it, but I think I'm starting to see definition in my collarbone again. It's silly, I know, but instead of just seeing skin, I'm starting to see the little dips and the beginnings of raised bones. I know I sound so weird, but it's nice to see it again28

I'm wearing size 12 jeans. No 'W' and no muffin-top. I guess this means regular stores for me, finally! (Have been as high as 30-32W, the deepest end of the plus stores). I also bought a bathing suit in size 12 for summer thinking by then it would fit nicely because surely the jeans were vanity-sized. It fits already.26

Me too! I have a collie and a min pin and together they weigh about 70 pounds. I gave the collie a bath not long ago and it was such a struggle to lift her up into the tub. And she "only" weighs 58 pounds. It is hard to imagine I used to lug the weight of both of them around with me all day long. No wonder I was always out if breath.14 -
Last night while laying in bed I discovered I have hip bones. Who knew?17
-
Running up the escalator that used to make me want to lay down and die when I got the top and this time, I was still out of breath but recovered much quicker!13

My husband paid me a compliment today (although I don't think that he realised that he had complimented me). We go cycling every week at a local athletics track; initially it was so my daughter could learn to ride but the whole family have become involved (including my toddler who is so cute on the tiny pink glittery bike with stabilisers) and it's where I rediscovered my love of cycling.
My husband has always been a little reticent to jump on a cycle until recently; last week he did a few laps and this week I was surprised to see him on a bike again. He did a few laps (probably a few miles overall) and caught me up and overtook me. No problem with that
Afterwards he said that he didn't expect to catch me up, let alone overtake me. This was the compliment (to my current level of fitness)
What he doesn't realise though, is that:
1) I wasn't working too hard as I don't find cycling around a track very exciting. I was just doing it because I was there.
2) I wasn't going flat out as I wanted to go out for a real cycle ride this afternoon, so I was conserving some energy for that.
3) speed is not my forte, I'm more of an endurance sort of person, hence the long cycle rides I go out on (long for me, that is, considering that a year ago I cycled for a hour once a week around the athletics track; my preferred route these days is 30+ miles up and down as many hills as I can get in).
4) I was going around the OUTSIDE of the track whereas he was going around the INSIDE of the track so it was inevitable that he'd catch up and overtake me.
Bless him. I'll take the compliment as they are few and far between from my beloved husband and chief bike mechanic31 -
I hit my goal of 150 miles walked this month today, early28

I guess this is actually somewhat scale related, but it reminded me of my overall improvement after a bit of a stall after the holidays. Today I went to the dentist for the first time in a year and a half. They handed me a form to look over and confirm all my information was correct. The home phone they had for us has been disconnected, so I crossed that out. And the weight they had for me was 18 pounds heavier – – so I crossed that out and corrected it! That was a nice pick-me-up this morning!21
