What nobody tells you about losing weight

I'm having the same issue....down nearly 70 but don't see it. I keep telling myself it's cause Its cause I Have another 60 to loose. I'm trying to focus on the things I can do now that I couldn't before and hope with time the brain catches up to my image. I climbed 68 flights over 3 days. I couldn't have done that with extra weigjt on me.16

that the scale will affect you less and less.
I gained 3lbs this weekend.....there was a time that would have sent me into a panic. today I thought well you went for 3 hikes totalling 10 miles in 3 days so probably some water retention...drink extra wate t oday...no drama no beating myself up....you learn to trust the process and cut tje control tje scale once had on you.
that being said other times I eat a couple meals off plan and feel like I've gained all 68 lbs back. it's a mental process for sure

No one told me I would have to start wearing smaller underwear...the leg holes are now too big and too often...the train leaves the station without authorization...76

Everybody's probably posted these already, but for me:
- you'll be uncomfortable telling people how much weight you've lost (still strange to me)
- you'll be the last person to notice it
- after a while, walking past a mirror will be confusing (of course it's hugely rewarding as well, but I still haven't gotten used to not seeing the old me)
- you'll fit into your car completely differently than before
- you'll be chilly more often
And for the one that I NEVER saw coming:
- for guys, the improvements in your "hardware". Yes, it's actually the same length as before, but when there's no extra padding above it, it makes a big difference!21 -

Yeah, I think there is something to this. I've lost over 100 now. Am in my mid-40s and was sort of bummed that it seemed I looked older and haggard, frankly. But that didn't last long at all. I think we are are not "just" losing weight; our body is healing in ways we probably don't understand yet, let alone *feel*. Ours bodies are pretty amazing, I think.34 -
I lost 40 pounds 4 years ago, after a couple of years everything looked right.16

I walk so much faster than I used to! Before, at 240ish lbs, my husband always had to stop to let me catch up. Now, he's the one that falls behind. He mentioned it last weekend and I told him I wasn't doing it on purpose, but when the muscles that used to propel 240 lbs are now propelling 175 lbs, the physics are totally different.
And the cat no longer wants to lay on me. She can't find an area squishy enough to make her happy.43 -

My cat is the same. He tries it sometimes and immediately lays next to me instead. That's only if I'm lying down though, if I'm in a chair he does like sitting in my lap more often now that my stomach isn't in the way.

My cat used to cuddle up on my tummy, but now that is gone he has moved to my chest. Ouch! Nothing like having a 20 lb cat step on your nipple with his claws out.21 -

I keep crashing doors when I open them lol. I open them with such force they hit tje wall. always when people are around..feel like a knob lol but a strong knob that doesn't know her strengtj18

This! When people ask how much, I don't what know to say now, because of some bizarre comments that follow.
I am also cold all the time.

Has anyone else's stomach become louder than life? It's so embarrassing. This wasn't a problem 65 lbs ago.

I think it's my guts that are growling rather than my stomach but yeah, digestion certainly seems louder than it used to be!11 -

I "third" this statement! My BMI is in the middle range for normal... Ive lost 55 lbs total. I Definitely looked older and haggard initially!! I was thinking that I'd gain some weight (maybe to the higher end of normal) back so I could retrieve my girlish looks (lol), but thankfully my face DID sort itself out! .... I was WORRIED... I mean I am 39, but I didn't have Any wrinkles before weight loss and then suddenly I had brow furrows and sharp parenthesis by my mouth. Thank God it softened back up and I didn't have to regain any of the pounds... furrows are slight and parenthesis are gone.., I can't say for fact that this made the difference, but I increased my water intake and face moisturizing.... I'll continue to do that as those were the only changes that I made and saw results,19 -

This!! ^ I was just talking about this with my aunt! Ever since I started eating healthier and exercising, my mom has quit smoking and started walking with me, my brother comes on walks with me, and my best friend started a gym membership and has goals to get in shape and told me that I am her inspiration! We even started doing Couch to 5K together! I would say one of the best "side effects" besides losing the weight and being healthier is the impact you have on others. What. An. Honor.40 -
That you get a lot less judgy about people that opt for plastic surgery.
This bod gonna need it after losing over 100 pounds.

Dude... I'm totally on board. One of the things that's keeping me going is knowing I'll be able to get skin removal surgery afterwards.10 -

It can take awhile to adjust. Logically, I know I'm thinner, but I still see the old me in the mirror.14

Damn straight. I hate the idea of wearing a swimsuit without board shorts now because of my saggy *kitten*. I never wore board shorts before to cover up my huge pear-shaped butt. The bingo wings I can deal with later; I need my sleeveless tops to get through an Aussie Summer.8
