Still major snow storm here today and is not supposed to let up for at least another 24 hours. Stayed home from work - driveway is packed solid with snow up to 4 feet deep and vehicle is in garage. DH has called to see if we can get it plowed out but nobody doing that until the storm is over. Busy day at home - bathed the dog and gave him a hair cut with the scissors. He looks a bit scruffy, but will use the clippers on the weekend and clean him up nice. Looks like tomorrow will be a home day too - the whole City is closed down - no school, malls closed, no taxis operating. Worse storm I've seen in a long time.
Hugs to all. Hope you have a great day.

So many wonderful pictures! Love seeing the babies, fur babies, scenery, etc.

Welcome to the new ladies. This is a great place for encouragement.
Hubby and I are having a bit of a tug-of-war about a few issues. My mood is pretty blue but it will brighten soon. Thinking of all of you and enjoying hearing about your lives. Hugs to those of you hurting.

Oh for heaven's sake, I just love you all. There I said it! We are not just related by blood like most relatives, but by circumstances, which is just as intense. I care about how you all tackle problems that come your way. The process of our journey's are as important as the destinations we are trying to achieve. With so many of us at different points of their journeys, its possible to mentally look ahead, have hope, which when you try to do this alone you just can't see.
I think that sometimes I have pity parties. With hats and horns! Its easy to create these, so it takes 'reality checks' to know what's important. Reshuffling my deck of cards.
I was touched that you all value what I have to say. I think I am missing my family. Those that have broken the chain of communication, and those in my family that have passed away. I miss picking up the phone to 'check in' with my family. Being a Navy wife, the phone was more than a lifeline, it kept my emotions in check. So not having that option, has been a tough thing for me now and then. So I shall connect on here when I feel like that.
Thanks again ladies for being awesome!
Becca

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Evening My Dear Friends,
Beth, so glad I’m not the only one. My pictures are fine on my computer and I still didn’t think Sarah had on any pants.
Chris, I’m crossing everything I have for you in that things work out the way you want.
Sue, yes, Sylvia had BO and ended up having surgery once or twice. I do hope she is well and really miss her. I hope her art co-op is going well.
Pip, I absolutely adore the baby Yogi!!!! Love the pics of Bullwinkle and Floyd too.
Barbie, I’m the same way in hearing stories about toxic co=workers and bosses. Lordy I love being retired.
Allie, it sounds like you need to give “Mary” at work a kick in the rear. Glad you rested well.
Kelly, that is terrible for your friend. I broke one wrist a few years ago and thought that was awful but can’t imagine two at once.
Ginger, you are rockin’ it with those check marks. Way to go, girl.
Isargood, welcome. This is a great place for support and information. Please tell us a bit about yourself to help us get to know you and sign each post with the name you want to be called. A location is great too, general or specific.
Lisa, the pictures were great. I hope ya’ll had a great time.
Margaret, I heard tired in your typing. I hate broken sleep, too. I do hope you get the needed rest. ((((Hugs))))
Michele, so good to hear from you. I’m glad it’s going well down there. If you just stay a little longer you can be there for Bike Week. Some of the bikers came through here on their way.
Margaret, it sounds like you have your work cut out for you in that diet for DH. Lots of meat but not too much protein has me scratching my head?? Good luck.
Kate, if the hospital didn’t do an ultrasound how did they figure out it was gall stones??? Hope you get it scheduled soon. My gyn sent me for an ultrasound when I told him about the pains I’d been having. The next week I ended up in the emergency room and right in the hospital for a week to get rid of the pancreatitis before my surgery. Two days after I got home from the hospital the doctor’s office called and told me that I had gall stones. I said, “Not any more, I don’t”. lol
Kay, you are just going gang busters with your exercise. I’m so inspired by you. Go girl!!!
Becca, I for one never felt like you were trying to convert anyone to your “weird” way of things. LOL Not that it would matter if you were. We are all pretty much set in our ways by now. There is often just no comment to make but it’s usually an interesting read. Just don’t be showin’ me your sex records, that’s all. LOL
Lanette, I love that you said: “My "filter" developed a gigantic hole”. The next time I get a short fuse or as you say, a little sassy, I’ll think of that.
Janetr, since you had gained back a few pounds, then don’t take my congrats on losing some. LOL I don’t care if you had gained 100….lost weight is lost weight and I think it’s wonderful. So there. (((Hugs)))
Gayle, so sorry for what you are going through with your mom. Glad that she had a turn for the better. That is very stressful and I’m glad you took a bit of time off. Please take care. ((((Hugs))))
Re, so glad you are seeing progress from your PT.
Katla, I hope the surgery goes well for your DH. Sending good thoughts. Before we moved to Myrtle Beach I mentioned an “Active Adult Community” (55 and over) to DH and he said, “I don’t want to live in a neighborhood with a bunch of old people”. He did say it mostly ‘tongue in cheek’ but what’s so funny is that he is now the least active and sociable senior that I know. Thank goodness he doesn’t mind if I still go and do.
Lanette, I agree that there are times I’d like to let someone know that I care and am thinking of them yet don’t have time to respond to everyone. But to be honest, I still forget that we have the responses that we do. Plus, how do you know someone has responded with a Like or Awesome without going back to your original post?
Sue, beautiful flowers!! Glad you are making baby steps but hope to hear that you are leaping soon. Please take care and feel the love we are sending.
Mia, she’s cute. I love the smell of a clean doggie.
Cathy, for sure you need to post more so we can congratulate you when you “GET A GRIP” on yourself. Lol Package those cookies in very small portions and put them in the freezer. Quick. You can do this. Come on now.
Paula, sorry for all your snow. Unless you like the snow days? Can’t tell. Just stay safe and enjoy your time in the house.
Toni, just know that we are here for you if you need to rant a bit. I hope you and your DH can work it all out. (((Hugs)))
to any Newbies. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
Sending love, good thoughts and sunshine to all of you.
I Love you

Tomorrow morning DH has surgery on eye #2. We just had a lovely dinner at the Mongolian BBQ and we're in our hotel room for the night. I am ready to relax a bit. :flowerforyou:4

DJ Its not my fault, its Portland's fault heehee!
No worries taking about subjects not appropriate. I might be sorta weird, but I do have some couth. OK haven't used THAT word in awhile!

Yep that picture shows a guy on a unicycle, dressed as Darth Vader, in a kilt, with flames coming out of his bagpipes! Just a normal thing in Portland!

We are a diverse group here and that's my favorite part of forums. Learning from everyone.
Becca - as I took my bath last night - about to shampoo my very short hair as I do most nights... I thought... hmm... my scalp has a rash in a spot... I attributed it to the band on my CPAP mask and started covering the band with a handkerchief... but... what if the shampoo is contributing to it? Becca may be onto something here. So - I didn't shampoo - I just rinsed it out good. So... don't think we're disinterested. Just hard-pressed for time to comment. ;-) and... I musta missed out on any talk of nudity. That would interest me as well.. I'll keep my eyes peeled... I mean for the posts. Not the nudity... ummm... well... you know what I mean.

Barbie from WA NW. Wow your stats make me wanna catch up!
But right now I'm lucky if I make it out the door to the car and back home to the house. Frankly, I did record 3 18-19 minute walks in the past week, but today I blew it off, and my motivator blew me off last week.
I'm in the San Francisco bay area North of the Golden Gate Bridge. Up until end of 2011 I was working very hard and was highly motivated.
But then I did a nose dive on the steep downhill leg of a Triathlon. It was an age group one that given my then 58 year old age, I was primed for first place! The next oldest participants were students at Berkeley. I did not get my first place medal that time or since. I broke my jaw in 3 places and scraped off 1/2 the flesh on my face and other not as notable injuries. My mouth was wired shut for 3 weeks. I did one more tri 1 month later, which I had already signed-up for, paid for the Team USA clothes, coats and swimsuit, so I couldn't imagine not at least showing up for the World Championship Long course race that I had previously qualified for.
It may sound like I'm a whiz, but age group Tri's are easily won when you are my age, (now 63). I could routinely come in dead last in my age group an hour after the other stragglers and get a second place trophy.
After that little by little I backed off of extreme. Then, I backed off normal exercise then I backed off completely. Thus I grew from 148-149 lbs of muscle up to 193 of primarily fat by mid last month.
I am motivated to do no cheating for 30 days b/c the reward is to start in a crossfit gym. A month ago, I was in a coffee shop and I observed a senior and a 50 year old woman both in gorgeous fit shape. I asked where they worked out and it turned out to be this warehouse serious gym close by in the bad side of town. Im looking forward to starting there because I do not have to worry about lookin' good or none of that nonsense.
When I walked into the gym for the first of 3 private training sessions limping due to Osteoarthritis and way too many lbs on my frame, the guy gently told me, comeback after 30 days perfect Paleo diet. If you take an interest in getting better/fit I will take an interest in you. I told him to keep the deposit he was trying to return, and That I would see him in 30 days. I would be back.
Today was day 21 perfect Paleo. Not one cheating bite!!
Call me Renee! (I look forward to sharing and motivating with you-all on this healthier journey.)

Becca, there are many, many days I don't' comment to anyone. Not that I don't care. I just don't respond. A couple of years ago I made long, long responses. I have no idea why I stopped. I still care just as much. Maybe a little depression???? But anyway, I love your posts. You are a very unique person maybe because of your Navy wife days? But everything about you I absolutely adore. I love your take on life, your love you have for your seniors, or even anyone who needs a hug. You just keep on posting about YOU and know that there are some of us who are silently enjoying everything you write and learning so much.
There have been many times I have used this sight as more of a journal for myself. I don't expect anyone to respond to me. I just have this urgent need to right my thoughts down. So you are welcome to read and be silent but they help me figure things out.
I don't know why my 'DH' is so hesitant to talk on the phone to potential contractors. We are going to be installing two doors and one door apparently is going to take some extra work on the framing. I don't understand a bit of it. But I knew Charlie would. But I couldn't get him to talk to our hopeful contractor that I have had so many conversations with but just not signed the contract. So I finally got him to agree to me calling and talking to him then putting him on speaker phone. It solved everything!!!!! Since we are getting money back from our Federal taxes he felt like we could afford to get the gutter guard, will not get the garage door opener although we could easily afford that also. I know his Parkinson's would sure appreciate it. Charlie was so hesitant in the gutter guard, all it took is to ask this guy if he was going to be over on this side of town and could bring it over again. He is also going to bring over two more bunches of colors he can get the gutters and downspouts in. I can't believe this is actually going to happen now. So my sister and I are going to have lunch tomorrow for my birthday so I am trusting my husband to get this contract signed, ask the one question we forgot to ask today. They would be able to start the end of the month, first of April. We signed the contract on the windows Feb 4th and they said 6-8 weeks so it might all be at the same time!!!!!
We really want to go down and see oldest daughter and family. This weekend works for them since the teenager will be home but it is the weekend to put our clocks forward. I really have this problem with commitment in going to church. Once I get on a consistent schedule, I am OK. I have gone 3 Sundays in a row now. But that is no way close enough for me to be in the commitment to get up. It isn't the desire, it's the getting out of bed to do it. If we go to their house Saturday, we will be getting back about 10 PM which is then 11 PM getting to bed time. That is the problem for me. So I am torn between wanting to see the family, getting my Ellie hugs and continuing in getting back in my schedule in getting to church. I was very consistent until my hospitalizations in December. She is suggesting we go down there spring break when we can go during the week. She doesn't know it but we will be going down there April 8th for her 40th birthday. We will take my wheelchair, get some black balloons and other 'over the hill' stuff and take her to the mall and other places. We did that for my brother when he turned 40 and we had so much fun.
See, I use this site to just write down thoughts. No one has to respond. I am just listening to myself.

Hey Renee! U can call me '97 Softail' or Tracy for short. You ca girls have too much energy. But I love central coast and would live there fore ever if I could. However I call pa home.... I wAs once a 120 lb model Now. A 160 lb office manager of men. Together we can figure out this life stage thing.!
Jolene I am days late to this discussion so I am sorry. What an absolute load of horse tripe. Your boss is using u and blowing smoke up yyour fanny. It is time to march directly to hr and inform them of her behavior. It sounds to me like she wants/needs you right where you are. You are strong competent and valuable and she is stealing your skills for her own benefit. I am shocked to be the only one to see it by now.

LOL Thank you for the encouragement and I did appreciate it, I didn't mean to be ugly about it. I just didn't want you to think I all this weight and becoming too "thin" ha ha ha I so very much appreciate the encouragement. I've been working hard at it and the support and encouragement here is my best motivation. Thank you #1.

And Joyce ya made me cry! Nice emotional release thank you. Waking up this morning, knowing I had to donate did put a shadow of anxiety over the whole day. But at the end of the day, I realize that my life isn't about me, but more importantly, about my contribution in this world.
Ginger. So a natural bristle brush I think is key to keeping my hair normal looking. There is a transition phase when its a lot of days hair up. I have decided that I will make home made rose water because it will be nice to spray on after I get out of the shower. I do have to wait until one of my friends roses actually BLOOM, because it is kinda still winter. I have joined a group on FB called The No Poo Movement. My dear husband had a lot to say about that name! No poo= no shampoo FYI.
Its 8:43PM and I am beat, and a bit lacking (blood wise). Love my ladies (yep I am protective of you all)
Tomorrow is
-TOPS meeting
-laundromat
-driving to Long view for sons DEP meeting

Way behind again! Just jumping in for one:
Celebrating great report from my DH's radiology oncologist, no sign of cancer in nodes or epiglottis! It's been 2 years 7 months since the end of his radiation & chemo treatments

Kate UK don't fool around with gall bladder attacks, please. My DH did, he had a couple of painful episodes but he was very busy traveling & didn't have time to deal with it. Well one day a stone got stuck in the grand duct & it became an emergency, he was a yellow as a Century 21 jacket. First was the endoscopy procedure to get the stone and then surgery to remove his gall bladder. Thank heavens he wasn't half way across the country or worse yet out of the country. It was a scary time.
Too late to read anymore tonight.

Karen in VA - little Oliva is so gorgeous. Still praying for resolutions to the non-functioning kidneys. Thanks for the update.
Janetr okc1 -
Barbie - I never use flashlights anymore. I have a headlamp for each of us for emergency lights. It would work great out walking in the dark.
Becca - none of us gets written to every time but if you're not here for a while everyone is wondering where you are! I feel the same sometimes but I don't have time to write to everyone all the time and sometimes I just feel like so many people have already said what I would say that I don't need to say it. Hopefully everyone knows that I care about them and what's going on in their lives.
Love to all - of to bed!
