Tomorrow is another day and will try not let myself be derailed. I've been doing this for a year now and still have a couple of pounds to lose to get to goal, wondering how to get past this time of up and down pounds. Had a busy day again today. First thing this morning got my fanny out the door looking for a new WiFi for the house. The one I had was on it's last legs and was about to die. This would be very bad, DD is finalizing her Masters Thesis on my laptop because her computer went toes up and is in the shop for a complete rebuild. She has been dancing on her own one last nerve and having our WiFi router cutting off and on on its own was the last straw.
I found one at Best Buy, dragged it home and began the mind torture called 'setting up your WiFi'. I needed to set up the new one with the same names and passwords as the old one so we didn't need to configure any of our other devices that access our WiFi.
It's been done, got a little turned around a time or two, but it's up and working like a champ.
I got notification in my email this morning that my quilt Snow Bird (which will be showing in Lancaster starting 3/29) has been accepted into the Spring AQS Paducah Quilt Show. This is a big deal! So let's dance around a bit and throw some confetti in the air to celebrate this wonderful quilt achievement.

Beth: Do you suppose the doctor would be willing to clarify what he means by a Korean diet? My DH has added Kimchi into his diet, and says it does wonders for him. Kimchi is originally from Korea but we buy a product made in the USA at a local grocery store. Kimchi is fermented cabbage. It is a probiotic, & low in calories. The ingredient list includes Napa cabbage, chili pepper, carrots, garlic, green onion, sugar, Onion, Baby Shrimp, Sea Salt, ginger, & Anchovy Extract. It ioo spicy for me, but has been very helpful to DH and he seems to enjoy it. It is something to think about & try.
Karen: Olivia looks great. I'm so happy to hear that things seem to be going well. DH's eye surgery is done. We'll go into the doctor's office in the morning and she'll check on how he's doing, & give him marching orders. He's happy with the surgery so far. :bigsmile:

We are home, & the surgery seems to have gone very well. DH has an appointment for a check up with the eye doctor tomorrow to make sure all is well. He will have to heal for a bit before they fit him with new glasses. I am so happy for him. This is a huge improvement already.

Congrats Charleen. I have only known one other person who would be good enough to have a quilt at that level. She is the one who taught me how to quilt. My quilts always have faults!!!!

Choir practice was wonderful tonight and my heart is still just so full. Matt's response to me when I told him that today was that day that made that impact in his life was ' God is such a show off'!!!!! Ladies, never forget the impact you may have on some one some day. You never know. You may not be alive when that impact is shown. But keep on being there for your family.
Katiebug, I agree with you on what you said to the person about the choice of 'music'. That is offensive.

Yvonne - Hope you dad is feeling better. I am so blessed to have my mom (she turned 85 this week) and step dad (he will be 94 in April) still with us. I lost my dad at 51 to cancer.
Beth & frankiesgirl - I live in Thompson, Manitoba which is 8 hour drive north of Winnipeg, if you are checking a map. It is a city of 13000 people in the middle of the boreal forest (middle of no where?). The closest city to us is a four hour drive away. This is our third day of a major snow storm and the wind and snow have finally abated enough to start clean up. I have a young man with a loader clearing my driveway so that I can get my vehicle out of the garage and go to work tomorrow. We received 32 inches of snow.
I have lost 15 lbs since the beginning of January, 11 since joining MFP. My husband had a mild stroke on the 20th of January, which gave us both a bit of an eye opener. I had promised myself that this was my year to lose some weight and gain control of my eating and exercise. I know it is slow going but feel I am progressing.
We have both been married before and have 3 children between us - 2 girls one boy and 7 grandchildren, the oldest (13) and the youngest (3) are girls and the five boys range in age from 13 to 5. The three youngest live in Thompson, 3 in Saskatchewan and 1 in British Columbia.

Charleen - congratulations on the quilt. You are a many talented woman. You have every right to dance around. I'm familiar with Paducah KY, we drove thru there in November, its just across the river from my mother-in-law's in MO. Best of luck in the show.
Chris in MA - wow you rock girl. I may have worn a size 4 when I was 3 years old That's absolutely terrific. I love that you had a goal and went for it with all you had and it has paid off. It's such an absolute thrill and motivation for the rest of us. Good job!!

I would've turned around and walked out if that gym so fast! How dare some guy have the gall to speak to anyone like that...and I don't think too much of his Paleo diet either! Just my opinion, I don't want to offend anyone who is a follower.

morning ladies~
got about 6 1/2 hrs sleep.. woke up to a leaky toilet that leaked into the cellar ceiling... turned off the water to that toilet and Tom will look at it Saturday..we are supposed to get 3-6 inches of snow during the day tomorrow , but after I get out of work, have to go up and take care of Faith will stay I guess until Saturday night. woke up to Homer barking and running around with his toy..so have been awake since 2:15am..
second load of laundry in the wash..
Going out with Doris and taking her to lunch, will be very very cautious with money... I dont know what will happen over the next few months so will be socking some money away..2 -

Hi, all... Becca, I too am watching your "no poo" experiment. I dye my hair, so if I shampoo every day, it can get quite dry. I use shampoo probably twice a week, but use conditioner every day. Because I go with medium blonde, it also stretches the time out before it gets brassy and yellow-ish. My natural state hair - if I remember right, it's been a long time - was oily as all get out. My hair, when it's dyed (in my opinion) is actually easier to take care of and behaves better.
The communication dynamic in this thread is always interesting--I read every day, whether I write or not, and someone always checks in on me if I don't write for a bit. I started out trying to answer everyone and found it more of an obligation than I could sustain. I admire those who do. Someone else said, "I answer the ones that stay in my head after I've read them all," and that seems as good a description as any of what I do. Like Joyce and Lenora, I also end up using this as a sort of journal on occasion. Or to tell stories that I can't tell anywhere else.
While my ticker says 260 days, that's how long since I missed one check-in day. I found this thread two years ago next month, and it's been a source of much joy.
My blood tests will be Tues. March 21, and then my doctor's appointment will be March 28. Will find out how much the thyroid meds are really doing as far as blood levels, and whether I've actually made corrections to my cholesterol levels. Since I only really started taking the cholesterol part seriously on March 1, I have my doubts, but who knows? I know the thyroid meds are working in terms of energy, and still sleeping 7 to 8 hours most nights, but don't know if there's further to go on that or not. Should be interesting.
Corey was itching for a smoke last night--but didn't go get one. He's starting to feel better and starting to get bored. And his next physical therapy appointment for that busted wrist isn't until Monday. So, today, I get to be the two-handed part of the team that changes out the front brake pads on my truck. I'm going to go work out first, as soon as I finish this in fact, as my Fitbit and MP3 player should be charged by now. Don't imagine there will be a lot of steps involved in brake pad work. Just a lot of tire lifting and such things. So, it's going to be an interesting day.
Have lost five pounds so far - but that tells you more about how bloated I was when I started than my actual ability to lose weight. The first five are easy for me, usually. We'll see how far I get by the time I weigh in at the doc's on the 28th. I pay no attention to their scale, just my own. While it may not be accurate to the pound, it's accurate for the change between where I was and where I am now, so I rely on mine. Plus, it annoys me that they're weighing my clothes. Always has.

I think I caught up to all of you haven't been spending much time on line as I'm planning my parents 60th wedding anniversary which is coming really soon! Trying to figure out a theme for the cake - I'm thinking blue, white and silver...diamond is a hard colour to replicate Now what to have put on it...decisions - decisions!

Barbie, when my current winter walking shoes bite the dust, I'll check out the New Balance. I don't mind spending some $$ on shoes that actually fit well. There are no stores close to me with a good selection other than the NB Outlet store, so will take my chances at Zappo's or Shoebuy when the time comes - they have a good return policy. Thanks for the recommendation!
Karen, so glad to hear about Olivia being moved from NICU. Great that she's able to spend more private time with Mom & Dad!
Katiebug, good for you calling out that music selection. Our gym plays a lot of current music but I haven't heard anything too nasty. Unless the gym has so much business that it's turning away clients, a strategy of ticking off the current ones doesn't seem wise. If I was having a bad day I'd probably nicely call him "Mr MF" a few times since he likes that word so much, lol. Ya, I can be feisty. Why don't they play some Elvis or Moody Blues - Days of Future Past if they want good beat? Or even Donna Summer disco stuff? These kids don't have a clue about good music, lol. .
ATTENTION: after the defeat by the Little Debbie gang a couple nights ago, I have redoubled my efforts to thwart future attacks:
1.) Deny her and the Kit-Kat/Reese cup mob entry into the house other than limited access into DH's hidden stash.
2.) Start giving myself a sticker each day I have a job well done - thanks Becca and those of you who are using that strategy. I dug out a memo-sized datebook someone had given me for Christmas and got some cute stickers at Walmart and the Dollar store. Every day I have success, meaning - at least 3 cups of water (I drink tea and coffee all day long but haven't been that good about plain water,) at least 4000 steps (I did over 10,000 yesterday), logging everything, and staying away from the sugar and processed food, I get to put a sticker on that day.
This little book will be my shield and a growing force field!
Looks like another puddle jumping day! Make it a fabulous one!

Carey - I'm pretty sure you can buy edible "diamonds" on line from Amazon etc. Would look lovely stuck around it with icing or edible glue.
Drkatie - That's why I had to give up the gym. I can't bear any kind of music that I haven't asked for - it's my control freakery - and certainly that kind of rap stuff would just about freak me out. :sad: Well done for you for speaking up! :flowerforyou: It's always me who has to tell people off, on the train etc. Most people sit there like dumb idiots. Grrrrrrrrrr!
Re - I do consider myself very fortunate. I was the same as a child. Always went for the egg sandwiches at birthday parties rather than cake or jelly. When I came home from school I would have a slice of bread and drip malt vinegar on it!!! I used to be a carbaholic - rice, potatoes, good bread, but I've weaned myself off that. Rarely eat much simple carbs now. I have some oats at breakfast and one carefully weighed slice of seedy wholegrain bread with my lunch. When I was younger and severely depressed I would "drug" myself into a stupor with mounds of white rice covered in ground pepper. :noway:
My DH is feeling really under the weather today as his cold has gone to his chest. He didn't even do his exercises!!!
Of course, that means he won't be going to my niece's 18th birthday meal. I'm sure he is very glad about that as he is not comfortable with my wider family. He will take me to the train station. I am going to wear my red dress.

Feeling so much better, need to get back to gym but DH insisted I wait so hopefully will do some vids today and go to gym tomorrow. I really feel that my problem was some sort of gastric attack and not gallbladder anyway when I get ultrasound may be a bit wiser.

My stress, worry, anxiety isn't so much about moving, but about where to go when house closing is done on March 31.
Still working on RV plan. The PODS container is sitting in my driveway empty since Monday. Denied rentals and loans because I went through bankruptcy about 6 months ago and my disability-SSI is still on hold, so income is only $900 a month. I know God will take care of things as long as we don't give up. I just need to give it all to him. As Allie said, easier said than done. Especially if you have generalized anxiety disorder which makes everything a big deal.
There are many people here in worse positions. I know that. I'm having a pity party and need to stop and focus. Yesterday was particularly bad. I know we will be ok. Just hate the not knowing how to proceed.

Lisa – You can get MFP to ‘reset’ your days. I don’t remember where it is; but, I had my reset at one point where I did not have service over a weekend. Also when I was out in Louisiana and did not have service. That time I had been writing down what I was eating; but, did not post my exercise although we walked every day; around the circle to the houses and up by the shed. I did it, usually, 3 times, and once 4.
I sometimes answer everybody in my WWP; but, either save it or delete it depending on my mood. It helps to be able to use it as a journal. Go back and celebrate the things that become positive over time. It is also a place where I *kitten* a little too much or say things that I know is too personal to post. I have blocked a couple of people so I don’t see what they post; but, if I want to I can go back in and unblock them just as easily if they were to come back to the site. I rarely answer some posts because I think I have said enough. But, I always enjoy the posts and read most of them. This site is key to my success in my journey to where my BMI will be in a 'normal' range. I don't want to look 'gaunt'. Which is easy to do because I gain weight from my ankles to my face; and, lose it in the reverse. I just cannot let it creep back up on me.
What type of thyroid medication did they put you on? Synthroid? Hope you are feeling better no matter what they put you on. My cholesterol levels have been a bit high; but, I cannot take the two meds that are advertised on TV because they are either reacting with on or more of my other meds, or by the end of the week, I am itching all over. I hope when I have my physical, and because I have lost about 40lbs total, that will help lower it, too. This last time I went ‘up’ which is what I call losing, then finding the pounds. It has become very difficult now that I am adding food back to my meals. She said the chicken and 2 veggies, and rice and gravy was a better choice than the 2 pieces of pizza I ate Friday and Saturday night; nut I also did not exercise on Sunday (which is my ‘day off’ for doing that.
What bothers me a lot more than a lot of “F” words or other 4-letter words when they are using God’s name in vain. I feel like the person is ‘damning’ anybody in the room around him. That would be one thing that would make me speak up.
Since DYS now has a family (wife and 11-year-old daughter) his language has significant changed. Papa Louie will sometimes say something without thinking that the phone is 'on' speaker phone. DYS, now, instead of the “$#*T” word. His drinking has also been let up on when she is with them. They will drink when she is off visiting her biological Dad. They also ‘go to church, too’. I was 'shocked beyond belief on that one'.
While others might disagree with me, I count tea (if I drink it) and coffee as liquid and only the sugar I put in it which is only about 15 calories for a TBSP full.
Charleen – Congrats on willing with your quilt - it was beautiful! I have a store-bought quit on our bed; it actually fits a Queen-sized bed better. I need to tack down some of the leaves and sew up the splits in the pattern's edges. But, I might wait until I take it off in the Spring.
Becca – I am on the no-poo, if I wash my hair every day, it get very dry. Sometimes I get the ends wet in the shower, which I do every other day because it also dries out my skin. But, I do wash in certain places and put deodorant on. You better NOT get off this site; because we will miss you terribly!
My DDnL#2 says that it (oily feeling) can be caused by some shampoos; which I change up after each bottle, so it doesn’t get to that point. Too much shampoo or conditioner can make your hair get heavy and then it difficult to style. Also, if you hair is extremely oily, putting a small couple of drops of detergent to take the oil out of your hair. Dawn is the best because that is what they use when there is an oil spill which affects the birds. It doesn't dry your hair out to the feeling of 'straw'.
Heather – I ‘love’ rice; and, my DMnL would cook it at every meal, sometimes putting it in her scrambled eyes to make them stretch further. I know that Louis could eat his weight in rice. I probably cook it 2 or 3 times a week. Watch out for your DH with his cold going to his chest. If his chest hurts and/or he is coughing and has a temperature, that can mean he has pneumonia, bronchitis, or pleurisy (if it is hurting him to cough around his ribs). All 3 need to be checked by a MD.

Good Morning!
Heard from my son that a friend he was supposed to help move today killed himself. Shot his self in front of his girlfriend. So sad. Evidently, he was a heavy drinker and this had greatly impacted his life.
Olivia ~ Beautiful baby. She doesn't even look like a new born. Seems very alert.
Food....I have been known to throw food I was in danger of binging on into the garbage. Know that wastes money but better that than add more weight with senseless calories. I never buy sweets or ice cream but my husband stocks up from the Dollar Store. He has his antique show this weekend and I am proud to say that he didn't make his usual trip to carry treats.
Allie ~ So glad you are saving money. Very wise decision.
Hair...I wash my hair about every three days. It looks good when I first blow dry it and by day three looks awful. Just hangs there. Like Lenora, I have very dry skin and usually on shower every other day (if I don't have to go somewhere).
Charleen ~ Congrats on your quilt. All that you have shown us are beautiful.
Michele ~ You must have the most will power of anyone I've met regarding your food choices. Eating a salad with no dressing or not using sauces would be very hard for me to do.
Going to Sam's to get multi-vitamins. Looked at the health food store and they are so expensive there. I did buy Hibiscus tea and think it is very tasty. According to Google, it is supposed to help lower blood pressure and cholesterol and anxiety. I did notice that after I drink a cup, I feel very calm so maybe it is working.
