buzz, sorry to hear of all your losses. Take care.
Deb, you are really good at catching up.
I am waiting for the cafeteria to open so I can get some breakfast. I brought my Zumba DVDs to work today. I may be able to get some dancing in.0 -
AAhhhh!!!  Just managed to wipe a long post because my finger did an inadvertent flick on the mouse and whoosh, everything disappeared. It's never as good 2nd time around!!
Firstly, yes, it's raining so that's 36 days to go. That bishop St Swithen needed a good talking to when he was asking to be buried outside in the rain!!
Becky ~ I don't know if anyone has checked back over the 1000 years to see if this old wive's tale is true, probably because it could spoil a good story!! Have I missed where you work because I'm interested to know how you'd manage a zumba session??
Deb ~ Our local weather forecast is for sunshine at the weekend so you should be fine. Yes, I also laugh at myself sometimes, in fact I've just been outside because I could hear hens chooking loudly and thought there might be a problem but it was one of the neighbour's hens sitting in the boundary hedge laying an egg!! Years ago I used to tell friends I planned to be the mad old lady at the end of the track with cats but I should have added hens and bees!!
Jeri ~ I'm thinking of you today and sent a little prayer up for you with an apology for asking for a few favours this week but said I was sure He could cope!!
Irene ~ That's wonderful news and let's hope the new chemo does a great job for you too. I still find the concept of eating more to lose weight a strange one but you have proven it to be true. You must feel very positive now you are losing a bit at a time. Well done! Your tomatoes are following a similar pattern to mine because I had my first few salad tomatoes this week and boy, were they sweet! My pepper plants are very slow and barely showing signs of flowers. I could be eating peppers at Christmas!!
Sandy ~ I was fascinated by your casino story. So many people!! I'd have been alongside you parked in the hotel carpark because I'm terrible in such situations and would never have the patience in all that traffic. Mind you I'm a country bumpkin so get frustrated if I see more than a couple of cars on the same road as me!!!
Marie ~ That's interesting about Walmart selling fabrics. Most stores in the UK closed their fabric departments years ago because they said there was no call for them anymore but one of my local stores has kept theirs and it's the busiest section in the place.
Shirley ~ I completely agree with your philosophy about eating healthily. A friend of mine teases me about being so determined to keep going with the MFP plan but I know just how much better I feel already.
Buzz ~ That chicken recipe looks delicious and I'm going to buy the ingredients when I shop tomorrow and give it a go. I've also got Marie's bean recipes so am all set for some different meals. Another member of the community gone but you did make me spit a mouthful of coffee out when you said this one wouldn't be missed.
Apologies if I miss anyone but am going to have to stop here as it's taken twice as long and I don't want to delete another post.

A blonde decides to try horseback riding, even though she has had no lessons, nor prior experience. She mounts the horse unassisted, and the horse immediately springs into motion. It gallops along at a steady and rhythmic pace, but the blonde begins to slide from the saddle.
In terror, she grabs for the horse's mane, but cannot seem to get a firm grip. She tries to throw her arms around the horse's neck, but she slides down the horse's side anyway. The horse gallops along, seemingly impervious to its slipping rider.
Finally, giving up her frail grip, the blonde attempts to leap away from the horse and throw herself to safety. Unfortunately, her foot has become entangled in the stirrup, she is now at the mercy of the horse's pounding hooves as her head is struck against the ground over and over.
As her head is battered against the ground, she is mere moments away from unconsciousness when to her great fortune... Frank, the Walmart greeter, sees her dilemma and unplugs the horse.
And you thought all they did was say Hello.0 -
:flowerforyou: Sandy, I knew the end of the joke before I had read it all. And, the way I could figure it out is because my blonde hair comes from a box.
:flowerforyou: Jackie, I so understand the frustration of accidently losing a post. My husband and I work at the same place. He has to be here at 5:30 in the morning. I don't have to be here until 8. We have only one car so I have to ride in with him. That leaves me 2 1/2 hours all alone. I usually am right here at this site during that time. But, sometimes I exercise.
It is just too hot to move !!!!! So, I am not going to.0 -
HAPPY ANNIVERSAY MARIE & JERRY :flowerforyou:
Today is 90 and tomorrow is 95. No walking for me at lunch tomorrow.
I was suppose to go out for lunch but my friend cancelled.
Did my 35 mins walk this morning before the heat started.
Watered all flowers and plants outside so they are happy and
smiling.
Just got back from shopping and errands. Hotter than hell :explode:
Staying in and finishing up laundry and such.
Now time for lunch and some delicious salad and fruit. My main stay
these days. No processed, no packaged just good stuff.
Have a safe day and stay cool. :flowerforyou:
Lots and lots of water.0 -
Hello Lovely Ladies,
Just popped in to say a quick hello. Looks pretty quiet on here tonight. Everyone must be busy during the summer.
Sandy: Don't be too long. We shall miss your jokes.Got used to seeing them and the laugh they give me:laugh:
Marie: Hope you and Jerry have had a lovely anniversary. Did you go out for a meal?
Jeri: I think you may have had your op by now. Thinking of you:flowerforyou:
Becky: Take it easy in that heat. Zumba is hard at the best of times. Do you live far from your work? I think I would be better getting a train to work so I could lie in. I am not a morning person
Jackie: It would be lovely to have the sunshine while we are Devon, but I am not too worried. I am just looking forward to a few relaxing days. I have'nt been to Devon before so looking forward to exploring:happy: I do love your stories, they make me smile. I get all sorts of pictures pop into my head:laugh: The amount of times I have lost posts before Jackie! It makes me mad:mad:
Well I did'nt sleep at all well last night, so I am going to try for an earlyish night tonight. Last day at work tomorrow for a week. Woohoo:happy:
Take care and stay cool in the heat.

Happy Anniversary Marie and Jerry..........0 -
:flowerforyou: Deb, I live 12 miles from work. I take the interstate highway. I really don't mind it because I am a morning person. Only problem is when I don't get to sleep til 11 or 12. Then I am a mess the next day.
:flowerforyou: Shirley, be careful in this heat. Take it slow and drink a lot of water.:drinker:
I didn't Zumba at work. I waited til I got home. Really worked up a sweat and that was with the A/C on. I took two pieces of my daughter's pizza so I had to work off those calories.0 -
Beautiful roses Barbiecat Thanks you.0

A very quick Hi before I hit the hay! We have been off for our usual Edmonton holiday (we call it Neil's holiday), nice hotel, good weather and good fun. I will tell you more later. I took my ipad but for some reason couldn't get in to this site. I am pooped and need a sleep.
Neil needs some prayers and good thoughts. We don't know what is wrong but it seems as if his nerve stimulator is not working properly and he is getting zapped several times a day with more than he should be getting zapped. I have emailed his neurologist and hope to see him tomorrow. Neil is only one week away from his fishing trip and really needs to go. He has been talking about it for months. In spite of the problems and pain he did have a mostly good holiday.
I will catch up on the news tomorrow and try to write a bit. Take care and sleep well. Gayla0 -
:flowerforyou: Gayla, it sounds like Neil may have to have it replaced. Praying that all works out and that he can go on the fishing trip.
It is still hot here. In fact, this is to be the hottest day this week. Thank God that we have A/C. I did some Zumba last night in front of the window A/C.0 -

Gayla: I hope Neil is doing better. :flowerforyou:

However my brother is still going and catchin some fish.
Good to hear from you all.0 -
:flowerforyou: Marie...I can't imagine having a child 59. My oldest is 42. So, not too far behind. And I am so glad that you found me this morning.
:flowerforyou: Shirley, have a good time at the movie theater. I am so behind in watching Harry Potter. I think I have seen the first two. How many are there now?
:flowerforyou: Sandy, I love your praying angel.
I have realized what it is that I like about this older people group. No one here is judgmental. We all love and accept each other.0 -
SANDY. What a beautiful angel. Thank you.
And MARIE, I am home and everything went well. I am not as sore as before although it is catching up on me right now. Time to lay down for a bit.
The doctor seems to think it all went well. I have to wait for the pathology report again. Oh how I hate waiting. But I am sure it will be fine.
I'll catch up more later.0 -
Hi to all you lovely ladies- it's a cold wet wintry day here but have the fire going and a good book so will just count my blessings...another 10 dasy and we're off to Thailand where it will be around 100 degrees so no doubt I'll be trying to get away from the heat....can't wait for those early morning walks along the beach before the heat makes it unbearable to be outside. At least the Thai food is nice and healty and being that hot, I don't really feel like eating much...just fruit and salads so hopefully I won't put on too much weight - it would be good not to put on any but I will be just enjoying my holiday without worrying too much about that...
Jake has gone home for the school holidays so it's a bit easier not cooking for a growing teenager. - he is so proud to have his license now and has offered to take us to the airport which is very kind as we have an early start - will have to leave home at 5.45 am so hopefully he doesn't come home and go back to sleep!!!!!
Jeri - I hope everything goes well for you...I have had a similar op 3 times but thankfully nothing sinister was found.
Sandy - enjoy your time at the Casino - I love going to Auckland to visit my sister and stay at the Casino hotel.
Gayla - hope Neil health problems improve...it can't be easy on you.
Ma - I can't believe you've got a son that age...you must've been a child bride.
Shirley - let's know about Harry Potter...I have that on my list of DVD's to get in Thailand - I usually get heaps as they are only about $3 and the kids love them. Your boat looks wonderful.
Have a wonderful day - you're all amazing and such great support .
Psychic Daughter
A father put his three
year old daughter to bed, told her a story and listened to her prayers which she ended by saying:
"God b less Mommy,
God bless Daddy,
God bless Grandma
and good-bye Grandpa."
The father asked, "Why did you say good-bye
grandpa?"
The little girl said, "I don't know daddy, it
just seemed like the thing to do."
The next day grandpa died. The father thought it was a strange coincidence.
A few months later the father put the girl to bed and listened to her prayers which went like this:
"God bless Mommy,
God Bless Daddy
and good-bye Grandma."
The next day the grandmother died. Oh my gosh, thought the father, this kid is in contact with the other side.
Several weeks later when the girl was going to bed the dad heard her say:
"God bless Mommy
and good-bye Daddy."
He practically went into shock. He couldn't sleep all night and got up at the crack of dawn to go to his office. He was nervous as a cat all day, had lunch sent in and watched the clock. He figured if he could get by until midnight he would be okay.
He felt safe in the office, so instead of going home at the end of the day he stayed there, drinking coffee, looking at his watch and jumping at every sound..
Finally midnight arrived, he breathed a sigh of relief and went home.
When he got home his wife said "I've never seen you work so late, what's the matter?"
He said "I don't want to talk about it, I've just spent the worst day of my life."
She said "You think you had a bad day, you'll never believe what happened to me.
This morning the milkman dropped dead on our porch!!0 -
Hello Lovely Ladies,
I went to Zumba tonight. The instructor did some mat exercises with us at the end. I just cannot do sit ups. It always hurts my neck, so I have to stop. Also the I cannot sit in the 'Bhudda' position, that hurts my hip. And as for the rest I could'nt keep my balance and wobbled like a big blob lol. It was funny though, even though it was'nt meant to be:laugh:
Judy: Sooo funny:laugh:
Never been to Thailand. My son has been a couple of times and it looks amazing in the photos..You can't go on a holiday and worry about food all the time, so enjoy it and relax. Mmm sooo envious:bigsmile: My friend saw Harry Potter yesterday and she ssaid bloody brilliant:bigsmile:
Jeri: So glad you are ok after your op. Praying for good news from your pathology report. Make sure you rest:flowerforyou:
Gayla: Prayers being sent for Neil and that he can go and enjoy his fishing trip. :flowerforyou:
Becky: I went to Zumba class tonight. I think you must be made of stern stuff, cos it was quite cool here and I found it hard, never mind doing it in the heat:noway:
Marie: What did you have to eat when you went out? It's great that the beans are making you feel good:bigsmile: Its a shame your son is'nt able to get down to see you, but I'm sure you will see him soon. When is his daughter getting married?
Sandy: What a lovely angel. Hope you're winning at the casino:drinker:
Well, stay cool everyone (except Judy, you stay warm by your fire lol)

Absolutely no time again, but MARIE, MY middle love will be 59 on the 25th! How can the kids be growing up while we are still kids?
Yesterday's funeral was exhilarating and magnificent, if that's possible! What a great tribute to a man I wish we had taken time to know better!
Gotta run...back tomorrow!

:flowerforyou: Deb, any really good Zumba instructor will tell you to work at your own pace. One thing that is very helpful is to get the footwork down before using your arms. I read your post. Most of what you mentioned was the mat work. That was what seemed to be giving you the problems. Don't give up. I don't do a class but use DVDs at home. I got to the point that I really didn't want to do it in front of others. Mainly, because they were majorly lossing weight while I was gaining. I am waiting for my husband to leave so I can dance. He will probably be here about another hour.
:flowerforyou: Judy, a cold, wet winter day sounds soooo good right now !!!! The milkman !!!! Of course !!0 -

I did win at the casino today not much but a win is a win!!! Might have some free time tomorrow to check in.0 -

 It's summer here but the temperatures are in the high 50's and low 60's so I'm still wearing long sleeves0 -
Hi to you all. I likely missed some good stuff as I perused very quickly. Thanks so much for the prayers and kind thoughts for Neil. It must be working as he had a much better day. The neuro. nurse called first thing this morning and suggested completely turning off his stimulator until she can reassess it tomorrow. She is waiting for the computer guy to come in and then she will call us. The stimulator gets turned off by taping a magnet in place over top of it until it can be reset. He had a much better day today. He had two small seizures and no chest pain since the stimulator was turned off. Living with technology can be crazy sometimes.
I did lots of walking while on our little holiday. We spent a lot of time at West Edmonton Mall shopping and mostly just looking. We went to a dinner theatre that Neil really liked. The music and singing was all Beatle music. He is still talking about it. It was the day following that things went crazy for Neil.
Irene -- So glad to see the news about the cancer marker. That is really good news. I hope it continues to improve. Thanks for sharing that with us.
Marie -- I feel bad that I missed your anniversary!! A belated Happy Anniversary to you and Jerry. I hope you had a wonderful day.
Sandy -- You enjoy your hiatus with your family but don't forget to come back!!
Jeri -- The wait is on once again. I hope it says they have it all.
I know I wanted to say more but alas I can't think of what it is. I will try to do better. Take care and keep smiling. Gayla0 -
Morning Ladies! A quick catch-up before I pick up my paintbrush and continue decorating the bedroom.
Buzz ~ I owe you an apology because I misinterpreted your original post about the funeral you've now attended and read it as you not missing the individual who'd passed away. You know I'd never wish to offend you so please forgive my flippant remark.
Jeri ~ I hope you're not feeling sore today and continue your positive attitude. It'll go such a long way to seeing you healed and well.
Deb ~ I'm sure you will love your exploration of Devon. There's plenty to see and perhaps, if it's warm enough, you'll get to paddle in the sea!
I can't remember who told me about flaxseed a while ago but, hooray, yesterday I found it in our local Co-operative store in their reduced section. I mixed a couple of teaspoons in a yogurt last night and sprinkled on my cereal this morning so feel I'm putting plenty of goodness into my system and a plus is there are little or no calories!!
That's it for now, my paintbrush is calling me!
Jackie0 -
:flowerforyou: Sandy, congrats on your win.
:flowerforyou: awww barbie...send some of that coolness to me.
:flowerforyou: Wow Jackie...painting so early? You must really be a morning person.
:flowerforyou: Lafla, great news about Neil. God does answer prayers.
It is even hot with the A/C. We are to get a small break this weekend and then it will be heating back up again next week.:sad:0 -
 Well the plan is working I have lost 2.6 pounds so far. Getting used to not
snacking between meals. I did bring raw veges and dip for my 3:00 pm slump and
it really helped!! I didn't feel so hungry when I got home. I also saw a low cal dip on
a thread here for white beans etc. and I will try it. Its better than the store bought.
This moring was a whole banana, a whole grapefruit and I did sneak in a 100 cal thin bagel.
Oh My!! hehehehe.
Well tonight is Harry Potter's last movie, and you are are asking if I will be eating popcorn, the
answer is YES! I will be sharing with my hubby and bottled water. Then we are going
out for dinner and I will be having a salad. This plan isn't that hard, just a few days is rough like
any other plan. Its for six weeks and then I can decide if I want to continue. Its actually a life style
way of eating.
Sandy: Congratulations! on your casino win. It always feels good.
Gayla: Good to hear Neil is better. Hope he will be up and at it soon :flowerforyou:
Have a great Friday everyone!!0 -
Happy Friday!! We finally had some rain last night and it looks like it going to rain again soon. (I had to shut down the computer because a big storm came through but it has cleared up and the sun is trying to come out.)
This is not going to be easy trying to catch up with everyone but will do the best I can. :ohwell:
Shirley, congratulations on your weight loss!!! Your new way of life seems to be working for you, glad it is getting easier everyday.
I am in the process of watching all the Harry Potter movies before I watch the last one. I did see them and have all the books but I wanted to refresh my memory.
Becky, I know what you mean about the heat, I love summer but this is a little too hot!! :glasses:
Jackie, don't feel bad about your remark to Buzz, I too read it the same way, but she must have made a typing error. So if you are apologizing then I too must say I am sorry Buzz. :flowerforyou:
Gayla, glad your trip was fun and Neil got to enjoy it. That poor guy goes through so much pain and suffering, I pray he gets a break soon.
Buzz, please go back and read your original post about your friend, so you understand what Jackie and I are talking about. So sorry for the loss of your friend, or could it be two people who have recently died and maybe we didn't read it wrong after all??? :noway:
Deb, Zumba just sounds so hard to me, I watched it On Demand and they moved so quickly I would probably throw a hip out.
Judy, loved your joke, it made me laugh out loud!! Wow, Thailand sounds hot but will be an exciting place to visit. I personally don't like Thai food, but hope you enjoy your trip.
Jeri, I hope you are feeling better today and hope you get your results quickly, waiting can be so hard. :flowerforyou:
Marie, my eldest son will be 48 on the 26th, I can hardly believe I have a son that old. Hope your anniversary was wonderful and love was in the air.
Barbie, you must be so busy trying to get ready for the move, wished we all lived close enough to help you.
I am sure I missed someone and for that I am sorry, just know I think of you all and hope you are having success in your journey and happiness in your life.0 -
:flowerforyou: Sandy, I wouldn't worry about missing anyone. We all still love you. If you were to be interested in Zumba you could purchase the DVDs they sell on TV. Some of them are very easy. Only problem I have is with two steps. And, it isn't due to them being hard...it is just that I can't figure out how they are done. I don't catch on easily.
:flowerforyou: Shirley, I think your breakfast sounds great. The 100 cal bagel should hurt you.
Speaking of watching movies over again when a new one is released.....I do that with Twilight. Before watching a new one I will watch them all from the beginning. I read three of the Harry Potter books. They are not the sort of books that you can read just for fun. I really had to concentrate to be able to understand them.
I hope that everyone is able to stay cool. Drink lots of water and stay in with the A/C.0
