What nobody tells you about losing weight

Sometimes success means getting up at night to pee. (WHOOSH!)
The less sugar you eat the sweeter everything gets. (You up-regulate your tongue's ability to detect sweetness.)23 -
Nobody tells you that you wish you would have learned more about the metric system in school to prepare you for measuring foods. My understanding is all baking and cooking in Europe is all weight based (not cups, etc.) which makes so much sense NOW, but didn't really sink in until I started weighing my food.37

Totally this. If I don't drop at the rate I feel I should drop it's like someone slapped those 65lbs I've already lost back on.25 -

Yes!! I think it's because all the fat isn't suffocating the muscles so they can cramp more freely now. That's just my hypothesis. The pain is back to about how it was before I gained all of the weight, so I think it's back to "normal."
Try fenugreek seeds. They helped mine. Soak a teaspoon the night before and drink in the morning x
Thanks. I'd never even heard of fenugreek seeds before, but I did a quick Google search and found some good information. Now, I have to see if I can grow it in my garden this year.5 -

I still have four and a half stone to lose but have lost 14 stone over almost a year and my physical appearance has changed a lot as has the way I feel. Here are a few examples...
I can fit into clothes from normal shops and have gone from someone who hated clothes shopping to someone who can't go to the supermarket to buy food without an item of clothing ending up in trolley too!
Speaking of supermarkets, complete strangers seem to be monitoring my weight loss as one of the checkout operators in my local supermarket that I have never said anything other than please and thank you etc to before said to me about 3 weeks ago that I have lost loads of weight now and was looking so much better! Lovely compliment but if I fall off the diet wagon I feel like I can never buy chocolate in there again haha.
I have become somewhat unrecognisable even to people I know well. A woman who left my place of work about 15 months ago that I sat at the next desk to for about 6 years came for a visit last week and as she approached my desk with one of my colleagues she genuinely asked her if they had taken on new staff and was pointing in my direction. That was weird.
I have become more vain about my appearance in general, making more effort with my hair, make up etc than ever before
My large amounts of loose skin make a clapping noise when I am trying to be more active alerting everyone to my presence when I just want to be left alone to sweat profusely and turn puce in peace lol
I have more energy than I have had for years
Like many others have mentioned I am cold most of the time
I don't need to worry every time I get into someone else's car that I won't be able to get seatbelt done up!
Lastly for now...I am a whole lot happier right now
REPLY: your extra skin is clapping to applaud you for a job well done!23 -
I have been very disciplined but only lost 3 pounds this month, however my old fat lady lump arms disappeared and my biceps and deltoids are showing and my pants are getting looser and looser.39

- The confidence to do and learn new things. I became a Zumba instructor a couple of years ago and recently got my personal training liscene after a Zumba ending injury.
- The amazing community of people you integrate into when you decide to make healthier food and exercise choices.
Yes I am always cold too But Idk what is the reason
Everyone - when you're eating a calorie deficit, your core body temp goes down, so you feel colder. It's totally normal. Just have blankets/jackets/sweatshirts laying around in key spots!8 -
The fact that no matter how much I lose, I still have a lingering fear this weight loss isn't real. Maybe it will come back tomorrow... I know it's not true, but it's hard to change your mental reality about yourself as quickly physical changes occur.
This is me so much. I look at the graph of the past year, which is maintenance for me and I wonder if I will be sustaining it long term.16 -
I didn't expect my hair to start growing like crazy and my elbows to get super soft. Yay for water and vegetables.
When I experience the slightest amount of stress, I realize I start thinking about going for a run. I thought people who ran when they were stressed was like a book and movie thing. My brain has been reprogrammed.
I didn't know I would be a person who strings elastic through my waist bands and sews it in just so I don't have to buy new pants yet.
I didn't know how disappointed I would be when the weight started falling off my boobs and butt instead of my thighs. Stubborn thighs...29 -
How differently people talk to you. Or people that never spoke to you once in your life are suddenly interested.
Changes in diet can do weird things to your body.
I would start feeling more comfortable with what outfits I wanted to try or wear. But there's also a lot of emotional days when I think I can't wear an outfit because I still have some work to do20 -
Some days you'll feel fit, slim and awesome and on others like you didn't make any progress at all.49

The moment when you've lost just enough weight that your current clothes no longer fit properly but the next size down is still just a tad too tight. Being in "the in between" - or as I like to call it, wardrobe purgatory - is pretty inconvenient and it's something that never once crossed my mind when I started this process. Like, what am I supposed to do with my still fairly new, rather spendy leather belt? Poke a new hole in it? Pretty sure I don't want to do that...
You laugh, but that's exactly what my husband did. He took a drill to it. Worked like a charm.18 -
I love the way I look after losing 70 lbs, but I find that I'm 1000% more critical of my appearance now than I was before.29

Laying the belt on a block of wood for a backstop and using a small drill bit is what I do but I try to make it the same distance from the last one if it is a new like belt. Work belts I make it where I need it.2 -

Hammer and nail set works better than a drill. Just make sure to have it on a junk piece of wood.
I finally caved and bought a new one after adding 10 holes or so and having it wrap 1/3 around my waist again. Now I am on the last hole of the new one and have to start punching again.13 -

Still this. Crap I'm fat at 250. Wow I've lost a lot from 330.
For *puppy* sakes, which is it?35
