From fridays goals:
1. Burn at least 200 calories walking/treadmill
did 75 on treadmill and a little over 300 otherwise. My steps aren't always counted since I don't always have my phone on me, so I burned at least 50 more calories today.
2. See lil nephew mason cause he misses me and I didn't see him after work. Try and get him to eat some apple with me. ---- spent 4pm to 8:30pm with mason. Didn't take an apple with me (and I didn't eat one), but I ate and actual plate filled of veggies (half a plate then another half). Never done that.
3. No fast food Friday. Eat salad as part of a meal.---- Had no fast food! I did eat salad at the buffet tonight.
I'd say my goals were pretty much accomplished. Big news.. I only had 1 cookie and 1 serving of pudding at the buffet. How on earth I managed that with my major sweet tooth, not sure except it as hard! I then hit the gym and did my laundry tonight after teaching mason how to play monopoly junior.
I'm beat. But I'm proud.

JFT - Friday
- drink more water during the day (this week I've fallen off the water wagon) - Ugh. Sadly, no. Didn't crack open my Swell until almost 2!
@dwntwn5 put sticky notes up around you're home, bag, and workplace / place you'll be to remind you to drink water.. or set an alarm on your phone to take a drink every hour. I know it's hard to get into the routine.3 -
@mary_clinton6 "My steps aren't always counted since I don't always have my phone on me"
I just figured out today that I can add steps to my phone. So when I don't have it with me, I'm still counting steps so I can add them later on. Works great!2 -
Losing my marbles!
When I was on a weight loss program decades ago, the group suggested visualizing a pound of butter for every pound lost as means to measure progress and as an incentive - because we really are losing a pound of fat with each pound we lose
Well, I still want a visual reminder of success, but I've opted for a fun visual. Two jars on my desk: one filled with the number of marbles equal to the number of pounds I want to lose; one empty one. After I weigh in I'll move the number of marbles equal to what I lose in a week into the empty jar so I can visually see the progress - and it will be sooooo colourful too! The real plus is when someone asks what my marble jars are for I can chuckle as I say "oh it's just me losing my marbles!"
Just the thought of it makes me laugh! Have an awesome weekend everyone!8 -

You should be proud!
You managed not to indulge because you want to reach your weight loss goal more than you wanted the sweet treats!!
Wel done for completing them all!

8 glasses of water- too much coffee I think. I've noticed I drink way less when I drink more coffee
Keep it together!!!-
Well today's plans are shot. The littlest baby Emma turns 2. What a good natured child. Love her to pieces. Planned a day out in Denver for the family, but the weather is crappy. Grandson's soccer game cancelled. Not sure what we will do...
Just for today: Saturday
Think about goals for April
Have a great day!!

March 1: 205.4
April 1: 202.6
Goals for April
Lose 4 pounds, so I would be in ONDERLAND! Goal weight on May 1st at 198.
Current weight 202.6
Lose 4 pounds
drink minimum 6 glasses of water a day
exercise at the gym minimum 3 times a week
walk minimum of 3 times a week
consistently log all food and water
consistently get on here with daily goals, and be accountable
When I get so discouraged, I have to look at where I have come since January 1st. I started out strong, but I know my motivation has slowed down. I tend to get discouraged easily. But if I look at losing just 2 or 3 pounds a month, while I wish it could be faster, by the end of the year I can be within my goal weight. Just 2 pounds a month would be 24 pounds a year! And .... I am down almost 15 pounds. 20 more pounds to go for my first goal of 180 pounds. I can do this!
So what I have accomplished the month of March was:
1. I lost almost 3 pounds
2. I am going to the gym much more than I was in February
3. I am getting so much better with my water. While not perfect, at least 3 days I hit my goal of 6-8 glasses of water a day
4. I have been getting on here everyday to be accountable, which has kept me going! So thank you all who join me!
So my goals for today, April 1st
1. go to the gym. Did this already. They cancelled the zumba class, so I worked out for 60 minutes instead
2. clean house - grandsons will be here next week!
3. do laundry
4. get toys down from the attic
5. log ALL FOOD. Yes, even the easter candy I already got into.
6. get rid of the easter candy. I am having a easter egg hunt early for the grandsons. Eggs were stuffed last nite, but I have some leftover. Either get rid of it, or buy more eggs to stuff for the grandsons. DO NOT EAT ANYMORE~
7. carry my water bottle with me to remind me to drink water
8. lay out gym clothes for tomorrow
9. try and get out for a walk later today
10. get back on here tomorrow. be accountable!!!5 -
Happy 1st day of April everyone! I love a new month ..... a fresh start ....4

I love this idea!!! Great visual. We seem to downplay " just losing a pound", or not losing fast enough! I love your idea of visuals to remind us of how far we have come! Thank you. And made me laugh also --- I am always losing my marbles!4 -

How do you do that1 -
Goals for saturday:
1. Drink 50 FL oz water
2. Get up at work tonight and stretch (I sit too much on my chair doing charting and documenting on patients, then get up to eat. Sitting so long hurts... I need to work on stretching.)
3. Eat a salad.3 -
We are all in this together. Some are first timers, some are returning (like me). It's never too late. I like what you said about logging everything no matter what you eat. It makes a huge difference to see how certain foods - even those we think are "healthy" or good for us, impact our intake and ultimate goal.
Add me as a friend.3 -

Wow! Impressive loss--15 pounds since the first of the year. Congratulations! Don't get discouraged--perhaps visualize yourself in a new outfit, or one that you can no longer wear. Probably losing weight slowly, the way that you are doing it, is better for your overall health---just my two cents worth.
10. get back on here tomorrow. be accountable!!! I agree that is really important.

Beginning 3/1/17, I'm putting monthly goals in writing. I think having others see them (I love this thread!), I won't be able to pretend my goals didn't exist 30 days ago.
Updates for March:- Lose 4 lbs - Lost 3.5#
- Find tape measure and start measuring again (once per month) - I quit searching and bought new tape measure, which is looped on towel bar in bathroom. Took official measurements 3/25 and logged.
- Walk dog or on treadmill 4X per week (with fresh snow falling today, probably more of the treadmill) - Walked 4 days per week for three weeks; for one week, walked 3 days, including a 10K.
- Log more often on weekends, it keeps me more accountable - Really helping me keep on track.
Goals for April:- Lose 4 lbs...slow pace, so I don't feel deprived and get crabby
- Take measurements and log on 4/29
- Walk, preferably with dog, otherwise on treadmill, at least 4 days per week
- Keep logging on weekends whenever possible, it really helps
Spring is finally looking like it!3 -

What kind of phone and app are you using? I use an iPhone and the Health app that interfaces with MyFitnessPal.0 -
Well today's going to be a "fun day" not!
Saturday bingo night with my Mom and sister and we know we can't just sit there and daub away without munchies. BUT I have a plan and that's half the battle! Bring along my usual food snackpack that I take to work every day (counted veggies, cheese, crackers) to munch on so I stay away from the fries and other temptations.
So Just for Today...- Motivation - Record, come h-ll or high water and no matter what the results, because that's the key to accountability.
- Food Choices - Healthy choices when out - fresh veggies instead of fries
- Water - Drink my daily dose and bypass the pop at bingo
- Activity - Keep counting my steps, each one counts if only a few and not just for calories. Do some stretches between games at bingo.
... and my body will take care of itself, if I take care of it!4 -
JFT Sunday- get some rest, continue to try to drink water, exercise and finish cleaning.
-thanks to all of you who gave such great suggestions for drinking water. I'm gonna give infusing a try:) to bad Diet Coke doesn't count as water though:)4 -

How do you make so many steps?!? I'm only ever between 2 and 4,0000 -
@mary_clinton6 I checked and there's actually a "myfitnesspal" help Q&A. Here's the link to the page. Seems we can easily add steps in the "my exercise" section of the app.
MFP Help pages...
myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/300784-can-i-convert-my-pedometer-steps-into-calories-
I never thought of doing it that way but will try it next time.
Hope this helps!

@joan6630When I get so discouraged, I have to look at where I have come since January 1st. I started out strong, but I know my motivation has slowed down. I tend to get discouraged easily. .... I can do this!
Sometimes it's easy to get discouraged when we look ahead to where we want to be and it seems so far off. We're changing a lifetime of ingrained habits and behaviours and expecting it to happen over night. The reality is, the fact we are aware and conscious of each choice we make whether aligned with our goals or not, is a huge step from where we were to where we are now. I hope you can find it within you to celebrate each moment in happiness and gratitude for who you are now vs who you were. I also hope you can muster up the courage to be the person you are aspiring to become and one day it will be so. Think light thoughts, feel light, be light, and one day you'll be light(er). **wink**
That's what got me started on this path - one day I felt this overwhelming need to be lighter. My world was feeling heavy, I was feeling heavy, and I was feeling the weight of something. So I decided to lighten my hair and that helped a lot. I then lightened (brightened my clothing) and that helped more. I went so far as to change my usual shoes to a lighter pair and style because even they were feeling heavy. I knew I needed to lighten everything around me. And I made sure there was lots of light around me - blinds open, sunlight whenever I could snatch some. To me lighter also meant brighter. I could feel myself lightening up dramatically on the inside, smiling more and feeling better overall - it's like I just woke up or came out of hibernation or something. And then, duh (hit me in the head with a 2 by 4 lol), maybe if I started working on my weight and changed my lifestyle, I could actually "be" lighter and here I am and so grateful too.
You're right: "You can do this!" One moment at a time, one thought at a time, one step at a time, one smile at a time - just for today.6 -
Goals for sunday:
1. Since I'm probably going over my calorie limit cause I had junk at work, i'm setting a limit of only going over by 200, max, if that.
2. Eat another salad (bad habit of forgetting it's in the fridge then it goes bad. Plus, it tastes good).
3. Don't get kicked in the waist at work tonight..or hit anywhere really. (Patients can't always help it on my unit).
Going to go sleep before my night begins.
Hope everyone has a beautiful sunday!!4 -
Just for today: Saturday
Think about goals for April-
Just for today: Sunday
Shopping. I do pretty good with this. Need to purchase more veggies prep and eat them.
Get some things done around the house
Congrats to all of you!!! The big picture is we are all improving our overall health. I am so glad I found this thread. You are all such an inspiration. I was secretly hoping to be in the 140's end of March. Currently 151.8 and not looking back. My clothes fit better, I feel better and my food tastes better. Ready for shorts which I haven't worn in years. I do good with logging everything, but need to tighten it up and pull out that scale I purchased. My body thanks me in numerous ways when I stretch regularly. Need to make myself do that.
Enjoy your Sunday and keep pushing forward!3 -
