Good morning ladies, Happy Wednesday! Thanks for the warm welcome! I've been up since 4am (Hubby's crazy work schedule) and I will need to stay a little late at work as I have tomorrow off. I have 2 Dr. appt's, one is for my annual physical...I'm anxious to see the results of my blood work, hoping all my numbers are good. Not they are ever really bad, just hoping for better! It's going to be another pretty day here in Florida, prayers still for those affected by the wildfires a little further north of me.
I really need to focus on the goals I've set for April...slacking a little

Hope you're all having a great start to the day!

Here at the Laundromat, just chilling. Brought yogurt, coffee, and a small hunk of my "you can use it as a doorstop", bread with some peanut butter on it. My teeth are a wee bit sore, and some of the peanut butter hit my nose, but it was a good breakfast!

Beth: I like your thoughts on food. Planning healthy meals that balance with fun exercise is an excellent hobby but not an obsession. While you're beginning, though, you need to take the time to learn and plan, so it may take up much more of your time than mindless binging does. Do what you always did and you'll get the same results you always have. That is how we all got here in the first place. :star:

Ginger: We had cheap nylon/plastic screens on our vents and the raccoons broke them. Now we have strong aluminum grates. Nothing is going through those without serious tools. :noway:

Karen: Your grandson is a cutie, and the booties are wonderful.

Feeeeline: Welcome! My mom had to take prednisone and so does the wife of a cousin. It has some side effects that can be a hassle, but when you need it, you need it. I like the four items you have listed in your favor. Stick with us for ideas and support. :flowerforyou:

    Diana from MA: Welcome!

Lanette: It is time to shop for a better doctor. AARP suggests looking for female doctors as they seem to pay more attention to the patient. Seriously! We have a young female doctor and really appreciate her. My last female doctor was not really helpful so I was happy to move on. She never wanted to tackle problems with me; her solution was to refer me to someone. :grumble: Love the new doctor. She's younger and more willing to engage in helpful problems solving. As to the heating ducts--they are also the air conditioning ducts. I'll be happier all year in hot, cold, wet or dry weather.

Barbie: You and your little sister are sooooo cute!

Rori: I'm so glad your biological clock woke you at the right time. I haven't been to Virginia City since I was a teenager. Loved it back then, and I love the horse photo. I'll take the paint that is looking at the car.

Becca: I love all the things you were able to get but the nacho dip seems sort of surprising. Is it the kind made from beans? You'll be able to unleash your creativity & use it in all sorts of ways. I bet your son will love it.

Kim: Great solution for the Mexican eatery. I hope you enjoy your women's group. :flowerforyou:

Sharon in Lethbridge: Are you the younger sister or the older sister? I love the photo of the three of you.

    Sarah: Love the photo. :flowerforyou:

    Idyslater: Welcome!

Peach: I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you knee to feel better. :star:

Heather: I'm wishing you luck with the real estate agent. :flowerforyou:

The house project is moving along. Today our funace guy will be here to reconnect ducts torn down by the raccoons. We'll be warmer in cold weather and cooler in hot weather thanks to his efforts. Meanwhile I have some paper work to do, and today is yoga!!!

:)Kim, I'm glad to hear that you did well going to an "eating event" and not eating. It surprised me the first time I did it and now it is a habit. I have a friend who has many food intolerances and she happily has iced tea while everyone else eats Chinese food.

Happy Walk On Your Wild Side Day!

"Thomas and Ruth Roy are credited with being the creators of this celebration, the couple who are in charge of Wellcat.com. It was created in recognition that ‘what other people will think’ is the stupidest reason not to do something, and rather denotes a lack of courage."

    Nancy - Welcome!

Heather - Thinking good thoughts about your house sale. I know how hard it is to deal with all that.

Margaret - Your flower photos are stunning. It's hard not to feel happy looking at those bright colors.

USLeggs - Logging everything will help you identify any eating habits that might be impeding the progress from your workouts.

Karen - I love Griffin's crazy hair! And the little felt slippers are just too adorable.

feeeeline - Nice job of accentuating the positives!

Diana - Congratulations on your progress.

Joyce - If you can find an elevated spot to put the nest where it's safe from predators, the mother bird may find it.

Rori - I hear you about the casino hotel. We went to convention in Reno a few years back, and had to walk through a gauntlet of noise and smoke to get to anything. The only money we spent in the casino was a few coins playing Guitar Hero in the arcade. Does Virginia City still have camel races?

Kim - Great plan for your meetings! We have a very limited budget for eating out, so when I spent money at a restaurant I want to enjoy it!

Marcelyn - Hope grandbaby #13 comes soon, and easily.

ldyslater - Welcome to the group!

It's been such fun to see all of the sibling photos. We haven't had a photo of all of us done in a long time. I hate to have my photo taken.

The weather here is in a sweet spot right now - thunderstorms cooled things off, and it hasn't gotten warm enough yet to be swampy again so yesterday's workout was much easier than the day before. I did the intervals on the exercise bike, and today I'll try using the interval timer on the ski machine.

Enjoy your day, and don't forget to walk on your wild side.

I envy those of you with siblings. My DSIL is the closest thing I have to a sibling & she lives 300 miles away. I have some cousins that I enjoy. One is a few miles away as the bird flies, but over an hour's drive. :ohwell:

Good morning you wonderful motivating people!

I met my goal yesterday of accurately recording my intake, and touching base with others.

One of my biggest challenges at this time is the Prednisone induced appetite changes. It is profound. Reminds me of something I read in 12 step material years ago... "cunning, baffling, powerful". But, also, it's masquerading as biological imperative.

I'm sticking to... well some ideas that are probably the more obvious things which are 1) keeping a pretty tight kitchen (planning my meals carefully and keeping only things that have good nutritional value) 2) recording what I'm taking in, even when it's going over what I need (disappointing, but the data is going to be useful to me, and maybe to others) 3) I'll touch base with my rheumatologist on Friday and the weight/appetite issue is high on the list of my questions for him.

I'm interested in anyone's thoughts on this. With our aging bodies... there are times we're working on our health using the tools at our disposal and it's a double edge sword.

Anyway... listening for all your thoughts. Wishing you all a day of rising to challenges and recognizing little moments of joy. >^..^<

Lisa – My DBnL was stationed in Minot, ND; his wife with a newborn and very active 2-year-old left him the first snow they got which was a blizzard with snow blown up to the eaves of the house, so for 2 weeks they were in the house and could not even see out their windows. She left him a 2nd time when it snowed badly. I can understand, they went to Guam after that; they loved it. DH and I were married about 4 years before I ever met them. Loved my SSnL; and, still stay in touch with her via her present husband. They lost their youngest son from at the age of 40 to cancer and neither she nor my DBnL have gotten over it. He died on what would have been their 49 wedding anniversary. His step-Dad was wonderful to both he and his brother. In some way, maybe better. We arranged a ‘meeting’ between DBnL with his children, former SnL came too; did not want them to be ‘hurt’. She and her present husband and the boys were stationed in Japan for 4 years; and, DBnL never contacted his boys or returned any communication she tried to have with him. He had always been sort of a Dickhead about them; but, his ‘favorite’ grandchild was this son’s daughter. She worships him. The other brother’s family in Tallahassee invite him to come visit them on holidays and other times during the year. So now, he isn’t the ‘bitter man’ he had begun to become. But, he is extremely 'moody'.

Margaret – My Pop died right around Easter; the church was decorated with Easter Lilies and she was never able to stand the smell of them after that. She also made us agree that “In the Garden” would NOT be played at hers. She died around Christmas and the church was decorated with poinsettias and they played/sung “Silent Night”. I’ve never cared much for poinsettias even though my DMnL would send us a pot every Christmas. My sister who lives in Miami had one that was the size of a tree right outside her huge window in her living room until Katrina came and ripped out everything in their neighbor that was 'green'. They don’t grow here, so I could not put them in my garden; and, I cry every time I hear “Silent Night’.

Heather – My DOS’s favorite cake is a chocolate one with chocolate icing. To me, it is not as sweet as a white cake and icing is definitely not as sweet as vanilla.

My first Neurologist was female and I loved her; my other 3 are males. One has treated me for over 40 years and I love him; he did a lot of research to discover that I had a ‘Hydatidiformole pregnancy, so he did not have to perform a complete hysterectomy on a 24-year-old; and, I have 2 sons since. In the 40 years since he has only had two others with the same problem. The last one was easier to diagnose because of all the ‘fancy’ medical equipment they had. One of my BFs growing up was talking about how her DDnL was having problems with her pregnancy and they could not figure why her HCG levels were going up. She was not carrying a multiple birth. I wrote her and told her to get DDnL to ask her MD about the ‘Hydatidiformole pregnancy and that was ‘exactly’ what it was. She did not get chemo like I did. Now, she has cancer and everybody is asking for prayers. Last prognosis was positive that they could cure her, or at least get her into remission. Her oncologist was really surprised that her OB/GYN had not ordered chemo for her after the Add to dictionary Hydatidiformole pregnancy. She has 2 young daughters now; and, I am not sure if the oldest is even in school (maybe kindergarten or 1st grade at the most. She had been told that they would never have any children. She had the first one, then the complication with the 2nd pregnancy, and now has a 2nd live baby. Part of my placenta had broken off and attached to other organs and the chemo took them away.

My middle sister will NOT go to a male MD for any reason. My only other experience with a female MD is when I had a seizure while in the bathroom; and, I was still working a swing shift and going to art school. When I did not come back to work, my boss went looking for me. The manager and he came in the restroom and found me on the floor. I went to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta and really like my Greek MD; but, when a female MD came in to give me a pelvic and I refused her doing it because she had ‘long red fingernails’ – I told her to ‘get my other MD’; it made her mad; but, I did not care, so he brought in a male MD. I guess he thought since I was so young that maybe I would prefer a female; not since I had my Neurologist have I ever gone to one. My GP, “Doctor Cutie Pie” takes a lot of time with his patients and answers all the questions that I have written down. I travel 2 hours to Macon to see my PsycheMD because of a really bad issue with the ones they have at Phoebe in Albany; and, I won’t see any that might be gobbled up by Phoebe. They have hospitals in most of the small towns in the surrounding area. I had a complete hysterectomy when I turned 35; OB/GYN tried to get me on female drugs; but the week I was off I was a total B****; then he put me on them all month long; I still had a week of B****iness; so he took me off to see how I would do. Never a problem until a couple of years ago when I started getting too cold. I sleep with a blanket and a comforter all year long. I do have a summer-weigh bedspread and will be putting it on the next time I change the sheets.

Joyce – The other day I was walking and found a nest that was made totally of sticks; I got it out of the tree, since he was one that had obviously been abandoned to go with the really small one I found that might be a hummingbird nest. But, with nothing to hold it together by the time I walked down the driveway, it was coming apart. I put it in the 3-prong fork of a tree. Maybe some bird will find it and ‘fix’ it.

Mary: Can't help but wonder how Sam survived his childhood with all those girls. Probably a good thing he was the oldest.

Kelly ~ Joaquin is such a handsome happy looking little boy. No, we don't get tired of the pictures.

Cheri ~ You and your daughter do look like twins.

Everyone ~ Loved seeing all your sibling pictures. Unfortunately, I don't think we had any of us 5 growing up. Guess my parents were too busy doing their thing to take them. :'(

Got the lawn mowed and fertilized today. No, I didn't do it. Hope the fescue will do well after all the drought days of last summer.
