Trying to gain weight sucks

Problem solved
Also, anything made with oil will have a ton of calories. Chick-fil-a sauce is 140 calories per tiny littlepackage. Things like mayonnaise, ranch, lots of salad dressings. Using them generously will add lots of calories.
Fruit juices and sweet tea are loaded with sugar. As mentioned already, chocolate milk has a lot of calories.
Fatty meats have way more calories than lean meats.
Cream based pasta sauces vs tomatoe based have far more calories and adding olive oil to either is a delicious way to add a whole lot of calories.
Ice cream and milkshakes are loaded with calories.
Oh... fried biscuits with peanut butter and syrup. Tons of calories and absolutely delicious.
Pork sausage and really most sausages are loaded with calories.
Great, now I am hungry, lol.5 -

You are clearly not. If you were you would be gaining weight. Add some butter ,olive oil, nuts, chocolate, cheese or other calorie dense tastey foods to your diet.2 -
kaykay6676 wrote: »What should I eat or drink to give me more energy? I'm always tired and I hate it.
When are you tired? How much sleep do you get, and do you get decent sleep?
How many calories are you eating? What is your macro breakdown like?0 -
The tiredness could very easily be to do with too few calories and low body weight. And conversely, whilst trying to gain the extra food will require more energy to be directed to digestion so this could also cause some tiredness. These things should resolve though.4

Oats seem very high in calories? Substitute them for 2 extra PB1

I totally agree it SUCKS! It's like I have to work so damn hard to gain any weights. Like eat an unhealthy amount pretty much.1
-
I said the same thing a few years ago.. just have to eat2

Just throwing this out there but what if you have a tapeworm. My cousin had one and he kept eating like crazy and not gaining and in fact kept losing weight! Finally he went to the doctor and got it figured out.3

@jennieskoolaid I already went to the doctor and everything was good. Everyone here is probably right. I do eat a lot but probably not as much as I should be. But I'm starting to keep track now and I'm starting to notice a difference not only in my body but my mental Health as well. Before I was always tired and depressed. Now I'm a lot more motivated and happy. I still have my days. Who doesn't? But I'm starting to feel a lot better about my self.8

Can you make your diary public so we can review the entries to see what you are eating?1

This is great news.2 -
Couldn't really find anything at the store. Will this work at all to like help me gain weight?0

What will help you gain weight, as has been said several times, is eating/drinking more calories. If a protein supplement helps accomplish that, then yes, it will help you gain weight. Other than that, there's nothing magical about protein supplementation for weight gain. It's a food source, just like any other food.4 -
I personally love gaining weight. Protein, protein , protein! Take advantage of that anabolic window.1

I'm going to have to drink someone my calories because is hard for me to eat so much. That's why asked if it would help if I were to make a shake with it. And I was only asking if this one would work because I didn't know if there was certain kinds your like suppose to buy. And it says to use water or skim milk. Does that really matter? Or can I use any kinda milk?0
-
Use any milk. Just kinda depends on your preference.... How creamy/thick you want it to be. When I drink my whey, I can only use water or skim milk.... Otherwise, I can't stand the texture. It's up to you!1
-
Okay! Thank you!!!0

Of course, girl!:)1

You're going to have to train yourself to eat more. When I first started MFP, it was so hard for me to eat because I was never hungry. The more I "forced" myself to eat, the easier it got over time. I still have some bumps every now and then, but now I have a much better appetite.2

If you're looking to add calories, it would be best to use whole (full fat) milk. And maybe add a couple tablespoons of peanut butter to it.1 -
I agree. For some people gaining weight is difficult especially if you aren't used to eating a lot.
For me it is especially difficult because I am breastfeeding.. so adding 300-500 cals (or maybe more I don't even know) on top of an already high TDEE and it becomes very frustrating (3500cals+ per day )
BUT.. just because it isn't easy doesn't mean it's impossible.. definitely start tracking and measuring your food, check out that link that @psuLemon posted above which is super helpful, think about drinking your cals: adding in a homemade high cal shake, and on top of everything..be consistent! It is so important not to have a high day and think "OK great I did well, 3000 cals down I did it" then the next day go back to 1500 or something and spin your wheels. Also ya if you are still struggling despite all the changes a more throughout Dr checkup may be in order.
Good luck!
I want your life. Man. I wish I could eat 3500 calories per day lol1 -

But I am trying. So because of you guys telling me that I should really just try eating more im take you all up on that and I'm gonna look some stuff up and find healthy food with good calories and see what I can find around me. Because I want to gain weight and I want to be happy with myself so I'm willing to do whatever it takes.
Need to gain weight? no car? pizza delivery.
Enjoy trying to gain weight. Pizza, chicken wings, sausage egg and cheese bicuits, bbq, ice cream, PB and banana sammiches, avocados, nuts, etc..I find it nearly impossible to gain weight on "good" or "clean" calories only. I get plenty of the "good" calories to fill my micros/macros during my bulks, but to hit those daily calorie goals junk food (i.e. calorie dense) gets in the mix. Quit filling up on broccoli.
Mexican pizza has beans and tons of veggies. Beans have protein2 -

It would also be delicious. It tastes like a Reese's.1 -
Most protein powders are only about 100 calories a scoop so for them to be useful in any way in this scenario you're going to have to add stuff like whole milk, peanut butter, peanut butter, peanut butter.
What happened to the shake upthread you were going to try? Have you tried tracking and eating more at all?2 -

Actually, most are more like 130-200 and if you actually weight them, you find out a scoop weighs more than it says. I just looked up this one and it says 180 per scoop so probably more like 200.2 -
Mines 130 I believe. I haven't tried the shake yet because I just got the powder for it. I also just got all my weight and stuff for working out. Now I just need to get me a blender so I can actually make the shake. Lol. But I am eating sooo much more. Still could probably eat more. But it's pretty hard. I eat lots of chicken. Lmfao. And burgers. Also have cliff bars and almonds and stuff throughout the day as snacks. And I only drink water now. Might try infused water. Stopped drinking soda and stuff cuz I feel like that's what always made me tired and stuff. But I dropped down to 81 last week and then back up to 83 this week. I did just get taking of the drop *kitten* so I was told that my body could be trying to get use to it and that's why my weights fluctuating so much. But I don't know if that's true. I made another appointment so I'm going to the doctor Wednesday to see if they missed anything. Definitely not giving up yet! I'm gonna get there.0

Protein powder plus full cream milk doesn't require a blender. Drink that instead of water.2 -
Also juice instead of water.1
