What nobody tells you about losing weight

Seat belt in my vehicle was pressing against my neck.
I had to buy one of those fuzzy seatbelt covers and the clips to adjust the belt.
I no longer have the shape that holds it away from me and that darn thing hurts my neck!

Same thing happened to me! I found that there is an adjustable slidey thing in my vehicle - the part of the seatbelt that attaches to the car between the front and rear windows. Maybe your car has this feature? (Apparently most cars do!) I found that I could slide that thing up and down until I found the sweet spot for comfort. Who knew?10 -
That if you have a large frame, no matter how lean you get, you'll still be big compared to most other lean people.
The opposite is true for me ! That when you have an Ectomorphic frame (small) that no matter how much working out and gaining muscles you do, that you still look small compared to other men and women who workout and lose weight and yet look bigger than me.

That I would continue to rediscover my body and sometimes find myself feeling bones that I forgot were there as they were covered by fat. I am still amazed at my collarbones and ribs...
I am amazed by my ribs. Since I've been overweight/obese my whole life, I wasn't familiar with my ribs. Now (at a normal BMI) I see my rib cage in the front and feel my ribs all the way around my back. I find myself touching my ribs a lot! And I still love seeing my collarbones!
I am doing the same thing when I'm in front of the mirror and my wife jokingly says that I'm so vain now admiring myself lol

After months of wearing underwear too big for my greatly diminished butt, I now have entirely new appreciation for well fitting underpants37

I plan family vacations and getaways based on the best hiking trails instead of the best buffet restaurants.45

I don't know if anyone else can relate, but the more weight I lose the more I realize how big I was to start with, something I never noticed at the time. Now I look back (old pictures, wearing my old clothes that are far too big now) and am pretty shocked, and very pleased that I made the decision to shed pounds.
This for me too. Eight years ago I lost 40 lbs and was about 10 lbs from my goal weight. Then I gained it all back. I thought I'd gained it back plus 10 pounds or so. But now I've lost 40 lbs and I'm still 40 lbs from my goal weight. I've been fooling myself for years now thinking I hadn't gained back as much as I had. So easy to fool yourself.21 -
That planning times to work out become a priority. I have a very busy week coming up in early June and my focus has been how to fit in a few times for my cross fit classes.15

that I would start giving all my regular walking/running routes nicknames LOL e.g the "snake run" (all the side streets next to where I live) and "the circuit" (5km round trip) are a couple.21

Fully submersing my body in the bathtub is awesome.

That you become a tad fitness obssessed.
Example: am on week 4 of C25K and am enjoying it.
But have gone from, I never run, I will never run to. Ooh I can use Tuesdays workout to up my speed on the treadmill and I am at 9km/h. I have a running playlist! And I have registered for park run for when I finish C25K. And I have a goal of eventually getting 5km run in under 30mins.
All from even 5 weeks ago never wanting to run.
Add that to swimming, squash, weights, BodyCombat, BodyPump and Pilates and I have no time for anything else! haha.
Swapping a morning swim for the run and weights was a darn good plan. Just think I need to do more when not exercising instead of vegging in front of tv for 4 hours, maybe clean/prep food for an hour and then veg for 3?! lol
sorry that became a ramble27 -
Lines and wrinkles!! The more weight you lose the more they appear. My beautician is my new best friend.18

Sounds like me, although I find new things and don't want to give up old exercises.
Yep. it was a battle to get my brain to agree that still doing 4 swims a week was fine, and that the morning running and weight training gives me an evening free!

How when you go to take the dog for a walk, and the dog decides to run and you think "Why not?" and start to run a little with her, except then your favorite old yoga pants almost fall off in the front yard.36

Getting noticed more. Getting hit on more, made me think how shallow people are. When i was 15 kilos more, you didn't even see me. Now you suddenly care ? Im same person
today's dear abby or amy was about this. The question was basically "my friend lost 100 lbs now he's hot. IS it shallow to want to date him now?" um, yes. Yes it is.20 -
Also that due to working out more, your wardrobe suddenly gets full of workout gear. I used to get by on 1 outfit. Now I have 3 tops and 3 sets of bottoms for different things! and needing more tops! lol
fortunately they dry quick after washing and fold really small!
I love how nearly everyone's success photos on here are with 'normal' clothes for the before and then gym stuff for the after photo!
awesome!

That people will feel free to call you names because your thin. Gaunt is not a nice way to describe a person. I'm smaller, sure, but I'm also faster and stronger too. If it's said in a concerned manner, I might listen, but when said to the tune of the taunting song.....that's just mean.12
