  • Hey everyone! This is what I wrote on my blog. I'm too lazy right now to think of something new to say so here ya go... BTW, I'm seriously sore today. Dying.

I am having serious trouble even typing this... my arms are noodles!

Yesterday was stretch/rest day. We opted to rest for the first time mainly because we got home later than we thought so sleep won out.

Today was day 1 of phase 2. Oh... my... gosh!!! Chest/Shoulders/Triceps & and famous ARX. Bring on the muscle confusion! We got about half way through and I seriously felt like I might puke. We pushed through it but man, we have major rag arms right now. Jeremy asked me just a little bit ago if I wanted to do a few push ups with him and I told him I didn't even think I could brush my teeth! I've never had much upper body strength so this is really a struggle for me.
Nice. My legs feel like they got tenderized by baseball bats after plyo. My abs feel a little sore, and my arms are so so. I've always had strong upper body and legs, but I guess they get into those muscles you don't normally use or even know you have. I'm going to be finished with phase one by my birthday, Then I'll feel your pain. haha. Until then, I'm pushing play everyday. Today is Yoga X and I'm ready for some warrior pose and cobra, lol.

I know that "beaten by a baseball bat" feeling! I was begging Jeremy to just put me out of my misery! Have fun with your 5 hours (feels like it anyway) of Yoga today!

Oh, man. I start phase 2 tomorrow and now I know what I have to look forward to!

Tony would be so disappointed in my Super Bowl binge...I will be working extra hard tomorrow out of self-loathing. Gonna have to get up and do it around 5am as I have dinner plans tomorrow evening. Wish me luck!

How did it go with the killer Chest/Shoulders & Triceps this morning? Don't worry about the binge... you'll get back on track and be just fine. Have fun with Plyo today!
  • I finished KenpoX, and found myself thinking, "It's done already?!!!" It is so much fun that you don't even realize how long you've been at it for. I've done kickboxing classes before, but this was much, much better. My legs are so sore from my workout last night, that I was trembling by the time I was finished today. The stretching felt sooooo good! Monday is supposed to be my rest day, but I have 2+ hours of volleyball... I am NOT looking forward to Core Synergistics on Tuesday...

That's how I always feel about Kenpo. It goes by so fast! I love it and I feel for you doing Core today... brutal :noway: !

Does it still kick your butt as much as P90X? It is so hard for me to find enough time to do workouts, so I wait until my kids are in bed before I exercise, but that means not going to bed until around midnight or later. I would love to find a great workout like P90X, but in a more manageable amount of time. YogaX is ridiculously long for me...

Yep, Chalene really teaches you to lift heavier weights and you get a great intense workout in 35 min! And her yoga type workout is called Recharge and is only 20 min. That's my kind of yoga! I don't know if you've checked out Tony's One on One workouts but he also has a workout called Fountain of Youth that is 45 min of yoga (similar to P90X). HTH!

I had to boycott the Superbowl this year... But on Saturday we had UFC fight night, and there was all sorts of stuff around to get in trouble with. I made sure to order a vegetarian pizza, and then checked online to find out the nutritional info on it before we ate... It was still really hard to resist the junk, but I managed and have lost another pound this week and two more days to go.

Well, we were supposed to go to a SB party, but my hubby and dd were sick so I just made some air popped popcorn and that was my *treat*. Tasted yummy too! It gets easier to say no to the junk!

  • Hi everyone ...

I've been tempted to buy P90X everytime I see the commercial but I've always had my doubts. From what I read here it's really great. I just want to ask a couple of questions though. Does it really tone your thighs and buns?

I'm on day 31 and from what I can tell so far... yes! There are workouts that are very intense for the legs and glutes. The first week I could hardly walk and sit! That's my problem area but I'm noticing improvements in tone. Good luck deciding but for me, doing P90X is one of the best decisions I've ever made.

It really is a great program! Yes, it does tone up the lower body- you have Plyometrics (cardio w/ jump training), Legs & Back, Kenpo, and even yoga will work the lower body! Let me know if you have any questions (my info is in my profile).

Yoga is better, more fun than Plyo's!
  • Thanks for the advice. By the way, do I have to purchase some type of equipment in addition to the DVDs?
  • you either need a pull-up bar or or exercise bands. The pull-up bar can be had for aprox. $30. You also need dumbells for several exercises.

I woke up this morning and felt nothing but soreness in my hamstrings and quads... I can't believe how sore I am right now!!! I manage not to waddle when I'm in public just out of sheer pride, but when I am at home I look like I'm in labor, I'm walking so funny... Can't wait until volleyball tonight...

Oh I know that walk all too well! I just avoided going out into public at all! I could barely get off the couch but I just want to encourage you... it does get better!

CJ-I just wanted to tell you that I love your blog... I've been keeping up with your progress, and you really inspire me to keep on going. My husband has been gone for a month for training in Guam, but when he gets home, I would love to do this with him. Thanks for the support... You make me feel so much better about tottering around like an old fart:blushing:
  • Well, first day of Phase 2 completed. Was supposed to get up this morning at 5am and do my first Chest, Shoulders, and Tri routine, but...hit snooze instead and ended up doing it at 10pm.

Let me say...:noway:  ...I can barely lift my arms right now. So many push ups. One arm push ups in the middle of the workout?? Is he nuts? Yes.

This thing is a killer. I needed this change to recharge me physically and mentally! Can't wait to get going again with Plyo tomorrow.

Okay, so today was supposed to be my Rest or XStretch day, but I couldn't pass up my usual volleyball night... I am now so sore that I hurt even when sitting down. I'm kinda glad my husband isn't here right now, because he'd be making so much fun of me that I'd probably make him sleep in the garage. I have Core Synergistics on Tuesday... I don't know how I'm going to get through it. Not to mention the fact that I have VB again on Wednesday night...

I cracked up reading everyone's comments on the yoga. I have to break it up because I don't have 90 minutes available at 1 time, so I do the first part in the morning the balance section after work. It helps me to break it up, and I find the balance section relaxes me after work.

One arm pushups? Damn thanks for the heads up. I'll be preparing for that one. haha.

Today I have a full plate, missed legs and back so I'm doubling up today. Kenpo X today as well so I'm looking forward to it. Lots of water today so time to drink up! :drinker:

Today's goal: Do the whole bloody 90 min of yoga.
I think the problem last week was that I just got so bored of it. I'm forcing myself through it all today, and I will not fast forward the last million vinasyas (sp?).

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you like reading the ramblings on my blog. Feel free to comment anytime! It must be so hard being away from your husband but I bet he'll be surprised when he finally gets to see your progress!! I hope ya'll do get to work out together when he gets home- Jeremy and I love that we're doing it together. Hope your soreness is getting better today!

Oh boy... you got to experience another torturefest that is... P90X. That was the hardest day for me, well, the day after really. I was soooooo sore! I'm actually still trying to recover from it! Glad you feel recharged... keep pushing play!

I have Yoga today too and I feel your pain about the boredom so I'll be right there with ya forcing my way through it. We'll be thankful later though when we have long, lean muscles!

Wow...just got caught up on my reading (with this thread). Glad to see everyone's still going strong. Nice pic, Geo! Looks like things are already paying off! Keep going strong! My wife joined me during the "rest week" ( of phase 1. We've now started doing phase 2 together, and it's been a BIG motivator for me to push even harder!!

I'm still getting sore in places that I didn't even know you could 'get' sore! Although, I am starting to see the results. Actually the workouts (despite the soreness) make you feel GREAT!

As for Yoga, I finally mastered the "corpse" pose. I can hold it for the first 45 minutes of the entire yoga workout!! Then I move 'flawlessly' into childs pose....I love yoga now!

    Keep bringin' it everyone!!

You are HILARIOUS!  I hope to one day be a Yoga master like you!
