@tabletop_joe thanks a bunch. I have all those spices except white pepper. No biggie to substitute more black pepper.
Think i will give this a try...and i will search for a premade blend. Just never recall having seen 1 before.
And i love allrecipes.com
Hmmmm. Feeling totally inspired now.2 -
My goal this week is just to stay below maintenance. I had a crap day where I ate bagel sandwiches that shouldn't have been a big deal, but, ended up having 1000 calories each in them (made by a family member that doesn't understand how calories work). That was Sunday. Worst of it, I finished the day still hungry because they weren't overly filling despite the 1000 calories each (It ended up being nearly a 5000 calorie day). Now I've spent 2 days hungry. I only ate 200 calories below maintenance today, but, I'm still counting that as a win. The day before yesterday I managed like a 500 calorie deficit. My hunger isn't as bad this evening, so, I'm hoping another day of slightly higher eating tomorrow gets the appetite tamed back down to reasonable levels. Today wasn't helped by the fact that I had a baby shower to go to and that food was also mostly empty calories. Gah!
At least I should be caught up on social engagements for awhile now.
If I can just get the hunger tamed tomorrow I should be good.

It's Wednesday and my weigh in day. Not down too much but for the last few weeks I seem to have a small lost (or gain) one week and then a big loss the next week and then repeat the sequence. So I'm still hoping to make my goal by the end of the challenge!

Yay, a new all time low after up and down, up and down with no real progress!! I'm happy.
Wednesday wish: that I get through these last few days of the school year without a gain and adjust to a new schedule this summer; one that containes a board teen nephew with a lot of stressful therapy and family visits.
I will forever have soft spot in my heart for people (especially extended family: aunts, uncles, grandparents etc.) that take in troubled kids and gives them a fighting chance at a normal and successful life. IT'S RUFF!!!5 -

I'm going steady and slow this time. I'm using a Fitbit Blaze and eating back my activity calories. I have my fitbit account set for a 1000 calorie deficit which is more like a 640 calorie deficit according to what I've actually lost, but, plenty for now.
I had two setbacks this week. I went to Disney with a family member who made us sandwiches to eat while we were there so we wouldn't eat that 'bad theme park food'. Only, they managed to make these little bagel sandwiches with like 1000 calories each. Seriously! So, Sunday I was accidentally at 5000 calories, but, I learned an important lesson.. lol Then, on Tuesday I there was a small work baby shower and you have to try a bit of everything or it looks like you are snubbing someone's dish. I thought I was overestimating everything when I logged it, but, who really knows? I'm not sure if I'm still up because I'm still making up for Sunday, or if I ate more than I thought at the party (I thought I aimed pretty high, but, it was all estimates) but I also had a large bowl of collard greens right before bed. So, eh, guess I'll know depending on what tomorrow brings on the scale.. lol I guess I should just be happy I'm only up .2 lbs with two decent sized derailments.4 -

Hi guys,
May I join your thread? This seems like a very friendly place. I see that you're in the middle of a challenge. I entered my info below for all the dates, although I understand if you don't want to add it into to the stats since I'm joining very late.
I'm from Tennessee. I've been trying to lose weight for a long time and am down about 15 pounds from this time last year. My best friend and I are currently trying to lose together (doing different things but supporting each other) and have been at it for about a month. I did well for a few weeks eating no carbs but then took a break for my birthday and never climbed all the way back on track.
Yesterday was a fresh start, and I'm heading in the right direction. I'm learning that I need a lot of external motivation to stay on track (something I wish weren't true), so maybe a thread like this will help.
My current plan is to cut out a lot of the planning energy involved with no-carb meal prep (when you're used to eating junk). With two kids and a busy month ahead, I know I need it to be extra easy right now. I never thought I'd try this... but I'm doing protein meal replacement shakes. One with berries for breakfast, one plus a light salad for lunch, one reasonable serving of whatever I'm making the family for dinner, and a cup of tea with honey before bed. Plus lots of water. It all fits into MFP's calorie goals for me to lose 2 pounds per week. It worked really well yesterday. We'll see how it goes today. I might tweak the plan a bit on the weekend to give myself some room for family outings and to satisfy my need for variety. We'll see.
Happy Wednesday!

I'm having a tough week. I was down to 202 point something right before the holiday weekend, but I've been up at the current weight for several days now, so it's not just a passing "blip." I guess I could still be retaining water from all the salty foods I ate at the end of last week, but there are other issues going on. I need to do better with my sleep, my exercise habits, and my overall food choices.
It was so awesome to see the loss that I had last week. I thought, "Boy, I'll be zipping past my goal in no time!" But it appears that this current "decade" of weight is going to put up a bit of a fight. (Shrug). No matter! I shall soldier on!

When you close out your Food Diary for the day, MFP tells you what you would weigh in 5 weeks if everyday was like that current day. At least once a week when I close out my food diary, I try to record in my Food Notes what MFP says I would weigh in 5 weeks. Does anyone else keep track of that number? Typically on Wednesdays (because that's my weigh-in day) I will go back 5 weeks and look at what number MFP predicted. I always seem to be about 5 pounds heavier than that estimate. Even though my weight is still going down, I can never catch up to that number.
If anyone else follows that number, how do you measure up with it? I am curious if the algorithm is accurate or if it's just me that is consistently missing the mark.
I know that slow and steady wins the race, but looking at that estimate every week and seeing where I could be is a bit discouraging.
Until next time; wishing everyone Peace , Love and Weight Loss !!3 -

Good morning all!
Well, I am not happy with myself... but with amount of stuff I have eaten over the past 4 days I am surprised it is not more of a gain.
So, I guess I need to step up my game this week! maybe I can get rid of it again.
Good luck to us all!!!

Truth Thursday: so looking back over the last week or so I noticed that I have been consistently eating 300-500 cal over my goal (goal is 1200) to feel satisfied, but I'm still at a deficit. I also have been diligent in my water, fiber, and apple cider vinegar intake. And I'm losing again, I hit another all time low this morning!!! the truth part is the calories have been coming from adding back some sweets, its all my body has been craving so I have gone with it. Some have been adding extras from veggies and protein too. I really think my body got in a rut, so I'm going to continue at this until Sunday, then on Monday I'm going to jump back down in calories and stop the sugar again to hopefully stop the cravings. Also add back exercising, which I have been neglecting recently...ok lie... for the last month or more. I think this ended up being a Monday check in, Tuesday goal, and Truth Thursday combination!3

GOOD LUCK1 -
Thursday Truth: On April 25 I started swimming laps. Just once a week, then twice a week. I missed a week but now I am back at it.
This morning I was hoping for a wt loss but instead I had a gain. I instantly blamed the exercise and got mad, ready to swear off extra activity. But then, as I stewed over it, recalling everything that I have done and eaten over the past month, I began to relize that the scale wasnt giving me the whole picture.
For one thing, exercise is good for many reasons not just wt loss. It improves mood, helps stress management, aids flexibilty, adds strength and bone density ... the list goes on and on!
And two, I might not have lost wt but maybe inches ... I had to tighten the straps on my bathing suit. And if I continue to exercise, eventually my addtional muscle growth will slow down and fat loss will finally begin to magically appear on that *kitten* scale!3 -
Seriously!? B a s t a r d is a forbidden word on mfp?3
-
Didn't post a wish yesterday, so here goes: I'm following through on a promise and taking my daughter (10) to a climbing wall on Sunday afternoon. I wish to fit in the climbing harness and to not embarrass myself on the wall. Blowing on the dandelion puff now...
Truth Thursday: I ate two spoonfuls of dried up Ghirardelli brownie crumbles yesterday in lieu of drinking my tea with honey.

Thursday Truth - it seems that as time goes on making decisions becomes more difficult with each one I need to make. I waste an inordinate amount of time trying to make the 'best' choice, and it's occurred to me that if I struggle this much over those I consider to be big decisions that it most likely sifts down to having difficulty with small ones as well ... those that are so small we hardly notice them because they are in our back-thoughts ... like what clothes to put on or what meal to to make, or which product to choose at the grocery store.
This past month, I have spent much time trying to decide which furniture arrangement to use in the change over from home-office to guest-room/office in my small spare room (less than 9x10 ft) I use an online room planning app and must have made 30 plans. Now I'm down to two and still cannot decide. Each has pros and cons, each has obstacles that can be managed with different levels of difficulty. Each involves completely emptying the room and then putting things back, plus bringing in a twin bed that has been in storage.
In the meantime, nothing is getting done while I am caught up in the struggle to make up my mind (like actually empting the room LOL, and I am running out of time because there is a guest coming in 14 days). What ever happened to that girl who made snap decisions without a second glance back?
Maybe you can help me decide by voting for which plan is most appealing ... bed under windows or desk under windows ... The photo link is below and should open up in a separate view. ... oh yeah, that red square thing is a small ottoman that can be moved around as needed.
Niki0 -
Truth Thursday: I am having to accept that this week is going to be tough, and that even though I may not meet my exercise goals, THAT IS OKAY. I get so discouraged when I don't accomplish something I set out to do. I hate making excuses! But after three consecutive nights up with both kids (one sick, one teething) I was just not feeling up to trying to do my early morning runs this week.
Weight loss is HARD. Parenting is HARD. It would have been easier to lose the weight before having children. But I am on this journey now, which is much, much better than never having started at all.
I have recommitted to my "Plan B" goal of getting some form of exercise 5 days this week, though. I went to the mall last night and walked for an hour, slowly. It wasn't exactly purposeful exercise, but hey it all counts, right?2 -
@Nikion901 I vote desk next to winow because 1) if it is a guest room YOU will be using it as a office more, so I would want to be at the desk near a window and 2) as a guest I have always felt weird sleeping next to a window when I'm not in my comfort zone ie my own home, I feel exposed/vulnerable I guess.
@RunningOnWontons just YES to all of that!3 -
