@theslightedgeforever I hear you! My father had heart disease and died of liver cancer. I'm doing what I can to be healthy. Right now my goal weight is 190. According to the chart I should be below 170, but that isn't something I want. I want muscles! lol I want to be RIPPED0
-
Okay I tracked and it was ugly. I ate another 320 cone...my car wouldn't stay running, I drove with the air off and the windows down. Came home hot and red faced..got in the pool, but ice cream hit the spot. I made better choices the remainder of the night, but it is what it is. At least I tracked it ALL.
no exercise today..my morning was not off to a good start and I have to now get ready for church and will be there until about 1:30 today. I have to get done all that I didn't get done yesterday because of the car thing. Otherwise I will feel overwhelmed all week!!
@theslightedgeforever I changed my goals to 1200, we will see.
@jdc1965 yep I am trying to forgo all of my parents health issues. Which is why I am very frustrated with myself. I have done so much better in my prior. But instead of beating myself up (today) I am setting goals for each day.
Cbabie0 -
jdc1965 I could hear Diana Ross singing..........what did you do today that brought you closer to your goal?
cbabie Good for you for getting back on track and making better choices. We will always stumble and slip. But how quickly we get back to it determines our overall success.
I don't know that I have done much today to help me towards my goal. I did get on the treadmill last night. I have my meals all planned out and pre-tracked in my food diary for tomorrow. I've set an alarm on my fitbit to remind me to go put on my shoes 15 min before my scheduled exercise time. I will fill up my water bottle before I sleep so I'm ready for tomorrow. I'm working hard on little strategies to keep me successful.0 -
Good Morning
Well this is going to be a tough week for me. My DH and DDs threw a surprise bday party for me on Saturday. I was told there would be something special on July 8th but that was a set-up and it was actually this past Saturday. Wonderful celebration with about 50 friends and family in our backyard. Fortunately I had it all up to date. My DD also had a house cleaner in for a couple of hours before the party so that I wouldn't feel embarrassed if my house wasn't "clean" enough. What a great gift that was. Anyway, I didn't really overdo the food and drink but I know I ate some things I haven't indulged in for several weeks now so I'm expecting a few tough days to burn off those few extra calories. All in all, well worth it. I just have to be VERY DEDICATED for at least these next 4 days. Wish me luck. Oh, and by the way, yes it is a milestone bday - 65 on July 5th!!
Have a good one everyone, Carol0 -
trooworld Awww too bad about your streak. How did the Vida coach meeting turn out? I saw a quote today that says Being committed means doing it no matter what. I'm trying to remember that this week. I'm up about 1.5 lbs. Totally unacceptable. That will not keep me healthy.
cmedwards What a wonderful surprise. Hey you know calories don't count on Milestone birthdays. It's just one day out of the year and if you go back to working your plan you will keep going in the right direction. Can I say Happy Bday now. I may not remember by July 5th. lol

Morning all,
I tracked and stayed okay. Had I not been upset at work all day, I might have done more damage. However, my boss was upset over something and called a 2 pm meeting and I couldn't eat. She says I can't ask other sales people questions. uhm..she is always in meetings and works at night. oh well... I just play the game and say yes mamm....
@trooworld sorry for the gain, but you know you had a rough week and you are getting back to your planning. it's when we give up and say why or I quit on my health that we should be concerned, so great JOB!!!
@cmedwards52 you know it's called life and one weekend does not make it over. you are doing great and you enjoyed the time with family/friends and that is worth enjoying!
@theslightedgeforever yes you gained, but you know you have not been in your routine, so keep moving forward. you got this!!
cbabie0 -
cbabie Sorry you are having such a hard time at work. I would email her my questions and then when she doesn't answer you and next time she tells you to ask her questions I would say I did but you didn't answer me. Probably a good thing I don't work for someone like that.
trooworld Beating yourself up anytime is not worth it. It serves no purpose. It's all learning opportunities on how we can do better the next time we get into that situation. I hope they can move those people out quickly.
okay. Food is OP so far. I need more water.0 -
Morning all:
I stayed OP yesterday and tracked. The unfortunate part is I still don't eat at work. I also didn't drink much water. That part I really have to work on. However I will take staying OP and tracking . One thing at a time.
@trooworld I am sorry about your neighbors. Sounds like you have your week planned!
@theslightedgeforever sounds like you and I have the same needs...water. LOL
okay guys, I have to go pick up my grandaughter, come back and get ready for work..oh I love going there.

Hello ladies , Just thought I'd check in and say hi.
@cbabie - sounds like you're doing well with the tracking. I'm really pleased with myself when I manage to track everything even if I go over - seems to me that's the 1st step.
@trooworld . So sorry about your neighbors. A friend of mine went through exactly the same thing and it was really stressful. She's fine now and they're gone! Don't beat yourself up . Just keep on going.
I've had a few bad days recently when I went over calories but am pleased I kept tracking. Also I'm now able to exercise a bit more which helps the weight loss but, most of all, helps me clear my head and feel positive.
Hope you all have a good day,
Shona0 -
cbabie I've been good on my water for 3 days now. Although I'm in the bathroom all night. Good for you for staying on track.
shonat11 I am finally tracking regularly. Now to be exercising regularly. That's my next goal.
trooworld Yaaay for almost being under calories. Just try again today. Can you keep some healthy snacks at work for those times treats appear? Maybe even bake some apples up with cinnamon and vanilla. It would be close to apple pie. If you have access to a microwave heat it a bit Even better. What can you do besides eat your feelings? Do you have a list printed out that you can see at work and at home?
Treadmill done for the day and strength training in a bit. I will lose a lb this week.

Morning: I have never felt like this before in my job, but I can say I am not eating my way out of my fears. I have a meeting at 11 with my boss and I am sick to my stomach wondering what I have done wrong since Monday. I had a mother who expected perfection, but she also knew to encourage you. Actually I think both parents did. I am not sure how my other siblings feel..LOL I just knew that we were taught if you put your mind to it you can do it. Or they would say you have a gift for that...So
@theslightedgeforever you have a gift for encouraging others, good job on the treadmill.
@shonat11 You know how to identify with each of us. I am so glad you checked in and you know what
you have to do to reach your goals and you don't beat up on yourself, and know how to do what encourages you with a positive attitude.
@trooworld You have a gift of practicality. You look at the situation and sum it up clearly and make good sense out of it. I love your insights.
Okay gals..I did track everything. Even the 10 pieces of candy corn. I hit over 11K steps yea.
Enjoy your day all~!!

Hi, The weather's not great here today. Not cold but raining on and off - I'm feeling tired but think I'll try and walk as that usually helps.
Yesterday we had a massive clear out and that felt really good - trouble is there's more to do today and I do NOT feel like doing it ! As you can see , I'm procrastinating!
@cbabie Hope the meeting's ok. It's not nice being that worried about something.
@theslightedgeforever . Sounds good - one thing at a time. Like you , I'm now tracking and am also trying to get back in to regular exercise. Sometimes I feel too tired but I know that regular exercise gives us more energy not less.
@trooworld - yoga at work sounds nice. Too bad about the apple pie! Hope it was good!
Have a good day .

cbabie I think Mom used up all the encouragement on you.
As they say, give yourself what you wish others would give you. Interesting that I'm an encourager, guess that's not a real word. Ok, one who encourages. lol I still think you should tell your boss what you need from her. Part of her job as a supervisor is to help you "grow" in your job.
shonat11 Did you get a walk in? On your clear out, tell yourself you will just do 15 min or one box or whatever. Baby steps. It's overwhelming to think about it all so break it down into bite size pieces. I used to have my kids draw intersecting lines like tic tac toe all over their carpet. All they had to do was clean 1 square, then clean 1 square.
Today is my off day for exercise.0 -
Morning all:
No my meeting didn't go well...I have another letter in my file. 30 years of being a go to person, well respected and talked highly of has gone down the tubes in the last 3 months! OH well...I know I am who I am, she has a control problem...in spite of that...I am still tracking and staying OP. I didn't exercise yesterday, but I did today.
@trooworld I am so happy for your scale response...you keep on target!!
@shonat11 Yea I have a trailer full of my dad's stuff still sitting..I hope you went for your walk. Always makes me feel better.
@theslightedgeforever I need my boss to stop micro managing me. We just lost a salesperson saying my boss was one that it was her way or the highway...I just laughed and said yes and you took the highway. LOL
okay gotta run to that place I call work.
Cbabie0 -
Good evening,
I've been over my calories a few times this week and am still not exercising that much so I shouldn't be surprised by my slight weight gain . Frustrating though. Hopefully it'll soon start going down!
@trooworld . Well done for your loss! Keep it up! Hope doctor's visit ok.
@cbabie . Sorry to hear about your meeting! Sounds like you have a lot to deal with at work but it's great you're still tracking. Your health is so much more important than that seriously nasty person!
@theslightedgeforever . Yes I had a good walk and managed some clearing.I love your idea of squares on the floor.I may try it with my kids. Hope you're doing ok and had a good rest day.
Hope you all have a good weekend,
Shona0 -
Hi, this looks like a great place to visit.....
2 -
Quick check in. I did 30 min of strength training today. Food is OP I've pretracked. All is well.3
-
@theslightedgeforever Yes! Well done !!!0

shonat11 I still play that square game when I clean my bedroom lol or sometimes the kitchen. I can get easily overwhelmed and then don't want to do anything. The more you know me the more you know I'm still a kid and like to play games. I even play games for my health journey. Whatever works, right?
@jocm2225 Welcome to the group
trooworld Don't all doctors say that? Lose weight. But it's true. Extra weight and obesity cause/contribute to most of the diseases and conditions that are out there. My problem is not knowledge but consistency in follow through. in one of my books this week it told a story similar to yours. The lady's name was Becky and she said she had been trying to lose weight. Then this other person told her that she was interested in losing weight but not committed. Committed means following your plan for food, water, and exercise every day NO MATTER WHAT. So then the author asked Are you interested or committed? Based on results all these years I've been interested but a few times committed. I'm ready for full time commitment. Hooray for your weight loss. Sounds like you were committed this week. So with all those snacks on hand, what made you go for the pie. Have you tried self talk? Some of the games I play are I can have it in 20 mins if I still want it. (usually I don't anymore) I can have some but not right now. Just wait a bit. Then there is me singing the song Walk on By-Dionne Warwick's version. You could try saying pie will keep me fat and make my arthritis worse. It's just supermarket pie, it's not really worth the calories. I am in control today and I choose to eat my healthy snacks I have.
cbabie Tell your boss quit micromanaging you. I think they are trying to get rid of you because you have been there so many years that you probably have one of the higher salaries/benefits. They want more profit and money in their pockets.
Exercise is done for the day and food is OP so far. Even all my water is down. I am in control and I am committed. I will lose my one lb this week.2 -
I lost 3.3 lbs this week.

Good Morning
Was an absolutely PERFECT CANADA DAY yesterday - well except for the rain in Ottawa where the biggest celebration took place! Beautiful day here in British Columbia and we enjoyed every minute of it.
All in all, we did our Country proud - HAPPY 150 TH CANADA!! So happy to have lucked out and been born a Canadian and our three little granddaughters are 6th generation English Canadian and 9th generation French Canadian. Not sure you can get much more Canadian than that!
Now that those celebrations and my bday celebrations (except for two more dinners out) are over, I can get back to the task at hand. Losing the last 12 pounds. Hurray, only 12 although I do know those will not be easy to rid.
trooworld: I know I've mentioned this before but the one and only thing that has finally made the difference for me is this low-carb diet. 35 net carbs per day. So in order to do that - leave out ALL sugar; wheat; potatoes, corn, peas etc. It is amazing how well this works and believe me I have tried EVERYTHING. When you do the low-carb you eat full fat so everything tastes amazing and you won't feel hungry which naturally leads you to crave the stuff you shouldn't have. Leaving out sugar will lead to no more craving sweets. I LOVE that. Why not give it a "committed" try. What have you got to lose??? Sorry, couldn't resist that one.
Well I'm off to enjoy another day of this wonderful sunshine with DH.
Have a good one!
Cheers, Carol

Interesting. I was reading a blog over on Sparkpeople and at the very bottom was this. Very fitting for today.

Made a good butternut squash dish tonight with bacon and spinach. Tried to eat fish. Blech.
Off to exercise.0 -
Morning: went off the wheel on Sat & Sun..but church was so good on Sunday, food for thought. Then I have this sister that just keeps saying commitment..not interest...I have never been really committed to much in my life. It's been one of what ever came my way I just fixed it, lived with it, took care of it...never goals. I am not sure why as I wasn't really raised that way. So I have been thinking....that's never good.LOL I am committed to church, you can't stop me from going there, I am committed to my husband..(not sure why) only kidding...so why don't I feel the same about my health. I think because I have always had good health..But I KNOW that my lifestyle with the stress that is in my life will play an important role and I really don't want to be like my parents. BUT what do I do to keep that in front of me. I keep my prayers in front of me...so why not y health. I think I need to work on a visual board. So I made my breakfast..eggs, spinach and tomatoes.. YUM.
@trooworld I don't think they could pay me enough to work today..LOL glad you only work until 1. Enjoy the rest of your day.
@theslightedgeforever good for you on your exercise..I think you are finally settling in after your vacation.
@cmedwards52 Happy Canadian Day!! You know its good to be proud of who you are!
Okay, hopefully this will be a productive day!
Cbabie0 -
Happy 4th of July to my American friends and neighbours. Enjoy your Special Day!
Cheers, Carol1 -
trooworld I hope you had a good day at work. At least there won't be lots of goodies around to get in to. I tried making "cauliflower rice" tater tots today. Now they were yummy. I think next time I might shape them into hash brown type patties. Nice vision board. I decided to go to a non-virtual one because I don't look at it everyday. It needs to be right there in my face. Multiple times of the day.
cbabie I think you were thrown into the role of "take care of it" early in life. You never got to do anything just for you. Just remember whatever I tell you all, I'm really just telling myself. You all get the advantage of being around me. lol I have a vision board on trello. But I decided to go bigger. Go big or go home. I went out yesterday and bought supplies to make me a big one. Here's my guide.....
I've seen on pinterest people who just use a big white board and write it all out like this....
cmedwards Happy Canada Day. Do you all have any traditions on this special day? I'd love to be an honorary Canadian. The more I read about your country the more I like it. Except maybe for the cold?
So Happy 4th to you all. Make wise decisions if you are having BBQs.
1 -
theslightedgeforever: Where in America do you live? Our poor Canada gets such a bad rap about always being COLD. Many parts of our country are cold in the WINTER but not all year. Here in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia (about 65 miles East of Vancouver BC) for instance, we get 30C plus temps for most of our summer, beautiful Springs and Falls and usually very mild winters, often without a flake of that white stuff (this year was an exception by a long shot). We can golf all year. In fact in 2010, the year of the Olympics here in Whistler, we were golfing in shorts and short sleeve shirts in January. It really is a very comfortable, very beautiful place to call home.
As for traditions for Canada Day? I'd say its much like your 4th of July. We celebrate our beautiful country with family and friends often with parties in local parks, bbqs in someone's backyard etc. All complete with Canadian Flag and maple leaf decorations and fireworks to round out the evening. And of course you can often find some of our favourite Canadian cuisine - poutine; beaver tails; smoked salmon; butter tarts; and of course anything "maple". Oh and don't forget our Canadian beer.
I, for one, would love for you to be an honorary Canadian. Welcome!!
Cheers, Carol0 -
Morning:
I am thinking of this as Monday, but it means I only work M-W..LOL I am making better choices, but not great ones. The good news is that I get up each day and say okay how can I stay on track..I haven't thrown in the towel yet. My Pastor has this saying that says a righteous man gets up seven times..not sure what that means, but I take it as he just keeps on getting up even if he falls down.
@cmedwards52 Sounds like you have great weather...I can do with out the beaver tails, but then, I can't even eat fish if looks like a fish...my food must be disguised. LOL
@theslightedgeforever I love the first board. I don't know what I would put on mine and I don't think we will find out..LOL
@trooworld I like your virtual board, but that is part of my problem..I have too many places to look and keep track of right now. Just like I am getting ready for my work day and facing my boss...I have 2 forms to fill out for her and they have the exact same requirements, but one is for each day with a list of my min by min plays and the other is the face to face calls only...and we have the same info in our system...I keep my own personal list..so that's 4 entries...learning cut and paste..but have to get a routine down..I only do well in routines.
@gemwolf110 Hope you had a great 4th and finish the week strong..
cbabie0 -
cbabie: beaver tails are donuts in the shape of a beaver tail. Nowhere near an actual beaver tail! lol
Have a good one everyone. I expect to. This is my actual 65th birthday today. Been celebrating for so long now I'm going to be sad to see it end this evening. Been fun though.
Cheers, Carol1
