READY FOR SUMMER CHALLENGE FINAL UPDATE
Here it is, the final results.
20 people weighed in this last week. I counted the weight loss up until the July 1st entry for those who gave one.
Out of those 20 people, 16 reported a loss, 2 stalls and 2 gains. It all added up to a weekly loss of 43.9lbs!This was our biggest weekly loss! Through this entire challenge we have lost 327.3lbs!!!
I only counted the individual total weight loss for people who posted their last weigh-in this week. However there are 4 of you who only missed last week so I can always add them if they want to and provide me with their final weigh-in.
Out of those last 20, 7 have reached their goals... almost 9 actually because 2 of you missed it by a hair (no, literally if you had a haircut you probably would have made it! )
Big shoutout to @happygirlxxx who lost the most weight comparative to their starting weight: 11.4%
Congratulations to each and every one of you for sticking through it all. Whether you reached your goal or not, you demonstrated commitment and that is half the battle! Always remember: you are all amazing!
May we all reached our final goal someday and, most importantly be happy!6 -

Hit my goal. I didn't think I would make it back in May. I was at 229 this morning.
Going to storage tomorrow to get my board and sails and headed for a Texas City, I'm going to get my stuff wet. Maybe there will be a nice 15-20 mph breeze and I can get moving.
So freakin proud of you!!! Tell your wife and boys that we want pics of you on that windsurfer!

Holy moley... 327lbs! That's incredible, People! Collectively, we are amazing!
And @sand86802 -thank you so very much for doing the calcs for us. Much, much appreciated!3 -
Hi All,
Amazing work everyone, 327lbs lost!!! wow!!! love it!! @sand86802 thank you so much for tracking and reporting every week!!
Now, lets not get comfy ... another challenge is about to start, Summer Heat!!
So, for those who would like to participate the template is below and weigh-in days will remain Wednesdays since everyone I think got used to the process by now. I will reporting the weekly updates every Thursday.
I hope most of you will join the challenge, because I do believe its a great tool to keep us motivated and accountable.
I think the weather has been cooperating a bit (at least here), so lets take advantage of it, be more outdoors, take long walks and swim, enjoy more whole and fresher foods like veggies and fruits, drink tons of water (and some cold beers once in a while ) and make this a fun summer!
Looking forward to tracking our awesome results!!

@sand86802 thank you for all your hard work!
@happy girl thanks for the template and inspiring words.
@p very excited about the windsurfing.. I've never been!
@bright, awesome Job getting to maintenance. It is a tremendous accomplishment.
We can do this! (I don't know why I am so excited .... I went over my calorie goal by like 600 today . Lol.)
I am just gonna power through. And think of what goal I should shoot for.
Good luck, stay strong and healthy!

Sorry @Nikion901 I don't know where I got the idea you volunteered to record again. I know you did the first challenge and we all really appreciate it! Also, many thanks to Helene @sand86802 for a great job tracking this challenge. @happygirlxxx so glad you are able to record for this new challenge, I do have a question though. Can we have the starting weight be July 1st (the last day we recorded for the last challange)? That way there's no gaps in time. The reason I ask is that I've FINALLY started losing again and my 3 pound loss from the first (well actually from June 28 because it didn't change) won't show up if we start this challenge from the 5th! LOL!!
Have a great 4th everyone whether your in the good old USA or somewhere else!0 -
Hi guys! Sorry my template for the challenge was off by a week--thanks for fixing it @happygirlxxx
My weight was slightly up from Saturday, so I'm starting at 198.4. I've decided on 185 as my goal b/c that's where I had settled for over 2 years and most of my clothes fit perfectly at that weight. It would be nice to start the school year with pants that fit. Once I get there, I can move forward with losing any additional weight.
For my other mileage challenge, I'm going to just use my fitbit miles for the week b/c it's easier than trying to track on my own. For the protein challenge, I will just start today and track from Monday to Sunday to match the Summer Heat challenge weeks.
Monday Check-in:
I'm off to a slow start with the mileage this week. My dog is extremely afraid of fireworks, and even when tranquilized, he gets so worked up. Last night he had a panic attack at midnight when I was just drifting off to sleep. I ran to see what was wrong when I heard him gasping for breath. At first, I thought he was dying, but then I remembered that this happened once before, and he survived, so I calmed down and just tried to soothe him as best I could. His episode passed quickly, but then I was on edge and afraid to go back to bed. I ended up watching TV until 3 am when I was pretty sure he was down for the night and our neighbors were done with the fireworks for the evening. Needless to say, no walk for him today, and I'm also running on fumes. Tonight will be another rough night b/c it's our town's show, but hopefully that will be the end of the holiday "fun."

@happygirlxxx thank you so much for signing up to moderate this challange!! I had some questions, you posted
"So, for those who would like to participate the template is below and weigh-in days will remain Wednesdays since everyone I think got used to the process by now. I will reporting the weekly updates every Thursday."
I'm confused.. can we still weigh in any day like before, or just on wednesday? I though before it was any day like Sunday thru sat will be tallyed with the wednesday date of that week. Not trying to be a pain just want to make sure to get my results in because I had switched to friday/sat weighing because those days show my best results with my eating habits.0 -
Hi All,
Below responses to your inquiries:
@bapcarrier I don't mind for it to be July 1 if the rest of the group is OK with the change. I can update the template tomorrow and resend, no big deal. But need to know ASAP, so we don't have two templates and different dates.
@jam5660 you can weight the day that best fits your schedule, but just to make it easier to keep track I need a date to close the week, so I chose Wednesday and to report Thursday (before the weekend starts). So for example, the report on Thursday, July 13, will count all entries from Thursday, July 6 until Wednesday, July 12.
Good Night!!!0 -
Can't everyone just use whatever starting weight they would like? If barb wants to start with Saturday's weight, she can , and if others want to start with today, they can. As long as people post it as their starting weight, it doesn't really matter which day they weighed, right?1

Thanks @happygirlxxx for the clarification!!0

Going ahead and posting last weigh in because today is cook out day for me and that way I have a week to get today's gain and hopefully a little more off by next week. The hitchs in the plan are: this weekend is also a scottish festival we go to every year, and you know what happens when you eat fried, salty festival food!!! But all the walking and upping water should help. This is also TOM week so I may just be doomed for a gain!!! But we will see!!!
Have a happy and safe 4th!!! I know I am celebrating my independence from these last 41lbs!!0 -

... I'd like to pop in to this discussion ... Ana is the moderator/leader of this challenge and we need to cooperate with what fits her ability to track and post ... and not all be off doing 'our own thing' ... because then it's not a group but just a bunch of people. That said ... The only departure is which dates will be included in the week's tally. Wednesday CUTS OFF the week instead of being in the middle of the week.
Now for the GOOD NEWS .... you have 7 days of the week to weigh in and use that weight for your reporting. Just use the date in the template as your marker for the week's end.
Another piece of Good News ... last challenge people wanted to report how much weight they lost not just with the challenge but from the start of their weight loss journey .... and a row for that has been added to the template. Just don't use that original high weight for the starting weight. Please do use a weight you had within the 7 days ending with July 5th,
Niki ... And everyone have fun today who celebrates 4th of July .... remember, it's a day to celebrate this nation and that does not mean you need to overeat to the point of bloated belly. A higher calorie and salt intake today might raise your weight tomorrow ... but it should be gone by next Wednesday.1 -
Tuesday - Goals (do you have any Goals you want to update us?)
Amvets is coming tomorrow to pick up ... I made a big pile for a donation when I cleaned out my spare room office to turn it into a guest/office room. Today I need to finish going through the books I packed up into boxes for the office demolition and weed through them ... 2/3 have got to go to have room for books in the new space. That's gonna be a tough task today. Tonight I need to finish setting up the area on the front porch so that the pickup crew will not confuse my porch furniture with the donations, as there are a couple pieces of furniture in the donation pile. Also, today is Senior Discount day at my local grocer (1st Tues of the mo) and a good opportunity to stock up on staples for the month at a 6% savings ... but I need to clean up the pantry before I go to the store with my list. Also, I might as well do my regular weekly grocery shopping ... which means the fridge needs a clean out as well. .... Hmmm .... That's a heck of a lot of stuff to do today. Guess I'll skip the parade and picnic a friend is hosting afterwards, and also skip going downtown for fireworks tonight.0 -
@happygirlxxx don't change the template, I'll just do what Karen suggested and put in my weight from 7/1 as my starting weight. Sorry, I wasn't trying to make anything harder for you. I actually never met for anything to change date wise, except for the starting weight date. Thank you again for doing this for us!0

This is kind of a Tuesday - Goals, Thursday - truth posting for me. I am pushing myself to do more things with friends, family and new acquaintances, so today I'm driving about two hours to celebrate the 4th. I would rather stay home and read a book. The truth is, I used to be very outgoing, always with friends and on the go. Over the years as I have gained and gained and gained that has changed to my being a very introverted person. I go to my part time job, and once a week to dinner with my sister and brother in law and that's about it. There are many activities here where I live that I could participate in but my weight has made me so self-conscious that I don't go. I figure that realizing what I've become (a stay at home "poop head" ) LOL is the first part to changing.
@Nikion901 is sounds like you have a ton to do, but the 4th only comes once a year and who knows what next year will bring, I think you should try to go to at least one of the thinks you're giving up, i.e. the parade, the picnic or the fireworks. Can't you have the books picked up at another time? That would take one item off your list. How about waiting a day or two for your weekly shopping and just do the stock up item today? That would take 2 more things off your list. As for your porch, won't you be home to guide the pick up crew so they get everything but don't take anything they shouldn't? You are really pushing yourself and giving up precious time with friends. I know I shouldn't be saying anything after just confessing how introverted I've become - just wishing you the best, whatever you end up doing today!1 -

So, I am going to try for 15 pounds this time and hope I make it because as I have mentioned I find summer very challenging. Just sitting around the shop for so many hours all I can think about is (junk) food. However according to the LIBRA app, that would put me a bit into the overweight category and THAT will make me ecstatic.
cheers everyone, Good Luck !!!!0 -
Hello, I'm new here. Been using this app since May 18. Started at 284 pounds, now at 274. So happy to discover all the different communities. My goal is 169 pounds. I've been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and fibromyalgia in 2010. Struggling with exercising because last year had two back surgeries and my joints don't help much. I'm happy to be here. I'm from Puerto Rico and I'll be honored to be your friend.2

My victory. 115 pounds ago this would have been physically impossible. Now, today wasn't perfect. The wind was light and dropped to gone offshore. I'm rusty and haven't quite found my balance. But I did it!

Yes, you did!! Wow, that's a NSV if I ever saw one! You must have felt amazing. Congratulations2 -
Terrified is how I felt. I was a hardcore windsurfer in my 30's. I stopped after marriage, kids and back surgery. I loved the feeling of being pulled by the wind. Feeling the power from the sail pushing against my feet to the fin in the water. The silence of speed, just the hum of the sail and the staccato of the board on the water. There is nothing else once you get hooked in. I still do. It doesn't matter that I was making 1/4 mile runs not 2,3 or more miles. I felt it. As a first outing in 15+ years it was a totally successful outing. Wildly exceeding my hopes. I rigged too small of a sail. The wind was very inconsistent and the jellyfish in the bay were awful. I am stung neck to toe. Upper lip too. I wanted to cry the first time I water started. I have no words for the joy I felt. The sail pulled me out of the water and I stood up! Totally ungraceful, inelegant and largely a failure as I went right over the other side but unimaginably successful. My next one, while still artless, was technically successful and off I went. I can't turn. I can't do the simple things I never thought about I just did. I will though. The jelly fish sting bumps and burning will go away, the feeling of speed will burn in the back of my mind, festering until the next time. And there is going to be a next time......
SOON!
I hope you all can find the joy I found today in something. I have achieved a goal I was afraid of attempting. I'm happy beyond words that I tried, failed some, succeeded some and left in pain. The good kind. The kind of pain that says I played good today regardless of who won. I won today.11 -

Hello everyone!
For those in the US I hope you had a fab 4th of July celebration!
I spent part of the day going through what I need to take to Italy and then went to my neighbors that were hosting a BBQ. I ate before I went, so would not be tempted and I was doing well until the drinks came along ... I didn't go over my calories, but would have prefer not to "drink back" my workout calories (because even though I am in better shape than when I started, it still hard to exercise!) ... anyway, today is a new day and we are ready to start the new challenge!
I have not loss weight this last week, so I am starting at the same weight I finished previous challenge:
