Why am I still in excellent shape after I eating junk?

An eating disorder is a serious problem for anyone who suffers from it. I'm not being weird I'm telling you if you have BED disorder as you said you do you need to get help. If you don't have an eating disorder please stop saying you do.15 -

So your saying it's impossible for me to binge eat because I'm thin... I do bing eat, almost every single night and go into week long splurges on sugary foods. Just because I don't fit into the mold you want me to fit into does not mean I don't binge eat. Stop harassing me.8 -

Sorry, I don't have photos to compare. All of my images are snaps I send my husband... he likes it when I send him pictures of myself or the baby... I don't ever take any for myself or for comparison.7

Binge eating disorder is a severe, life-threatening and treatable eating disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of eating large quantities of food (often very quickly and to the point of discomfort); a feeling of a loss of control during the binge; experiencing shame, distress or guilt afterwards; and not regularly using unhealthy compensatory measures (e.g., purging) to counter the binge eating. It is the most common eating disorder in the United States.
BED is one of the newest eating disorders formally recognized in the DSM5. Before the most recent revision in 2013, BED was listed as a subtype of EDNOS (now referred to as OSFED). The change is important because some insurance companies will not cover eating disorder treatment without a DSM diagnosis. The formal diagnostic criteria are:
Recurrent episodes of binge eating. An episode of binge eating is characterized by both of the following:
Eating, in a discrete period of time (e.g., within any 2-hour period), an amount of food that is definitely larger than what most people would eat in a similar period of time under similar circumstances.
A sense of lack of control over eating during the episode (e.g., a feeling that one cannot stop eating or control what or how much one is eating).
The binge eating episodes are associated with three (or more) of the following:
Eating much more rapidly than normal.
Eating until feeling uncomfortably full.
Eating large amounts of food when not feeling physically hungry.
Eating alone because of feeling embarrassed by how much one is eating.
Feeling disgusted with oneself, depressed, or very guilty afterward.
Marked distress regarding binge eating is present.
The binge eating occurs, on average, at least once a week for 3 months.
The binge eating is not associated with the recurrent use of inappropriate compensatory behaviors (e.g., purging) as in bulimia nervosa and does not occur exclusively during the course of bulimia nervosa or anorexia nervosa.

Me: Binge Eating Disorder is a clinically diagnosed eating disorder, one of the hallmarks of which are feelings of loss of control and feelings of shame. Your comments do not seem to suggest that you have any shame, or humility for that matter, so I think you are flippantly misusing a serious word to describe the fact that you eat a lot of food, and that is offensive.
It has nothing to do with your body, your size, or your appearance. It's fine you want validation, attention, and comments. You may get some of that here, but please stop suggesting that because you have this desire for attention and compliments from strangers, that the rest of us do too. And please, stop saying you binge eat. Unless the description above does fit you and you are hiding some of the symptoms, in which case, please seek a therapist.

Good luck and I hope you find what you need. I'm not saying you can't have BED and be thin, I have BED and I had it when I was 95lbs, weight does not determine if it is an eating disorder. I'm saying if you have an eating disorder you should take it seriously. I'm concerned not harassing but I wish you the best of luck and hope you can find a way to be happy.11 -
I am truly interested to see if anyone is capable of sustaining a healthy body with junk food in high quantities.
A healthy body isn't the same as a skinny or fit body. I would judge health by your A1C level, blood sugar level, cholesterol levels, etc.
I had a friend who had a high metabolism who barely weighed 90 lbs, yet her cholesterol was over 300. She never had to diet, so ate junk all the time. It caught up to her in health risks, but she still never gained weight.

This is interesting. I did notice I am starting to get acne the days after I binge eat on sweets. This is helpful3 -

Purging does not have to mean vomiting or abusing laxatives. You can also "purge" by over exercising. I was at my thinnest during the height of my bingeing and I never really threw up. It DID eventually catch up (I became depressed, gained a moderate amount of weight) because ultimately I could not sustain the mentality/physical aspects it took to binge thousands of calories and also exercise hours a day.
That being said, I suspect you are eating less than you think. Your daily binges are probably not as caloric as you think, and your activity level obviously compensates for what you do eat. You may THINK you are fine, but it will only get worse. If you just enjoy overeating, cool, ignore me and everyone else. But if you are having UNCONTROLLABLE binges... there's a problem. You can deny it or whatever-but it still is. Eventually it will get worse, I can guarantee it.
Either way, you're not "different" or "above average" in your metabolism-you're active and maintaining your weight at a higher calorie level than someone who is inactive. Whether that's in a healthy manner is what's up for debate10 -

Eating disorder is not an issue if my body is not having issues. It's only an issue if I'm starving myself or gaining massive amounts of weight. Otherwise it's not important. I'm skinny. It's not an issue. When I balloon up if that ever happens I will make sure to tone it down
If you wanted praise for being fit why didn't you post in the Success Stories in the first place & give your testimonial on how you got the body you wanted or how you maintain the physique you've always had?11 -

There's lots of us who don't post pictures of ourselves here and I'm definitely not here for validation, but instead mostly for the entertainment value, especially found in threads like this one13 -

So much this. Bob Harper, a trainer for The Biggest Loser show and very popular fitness guru was incredibly 'fit', and yet he had a massive heart attack earlier this year. Looks/level of finess does not automatically mean good health.4 -
If you're seriously trying to eat a diet comprised mainly of junk food, then you will most likely run into major health problems eventually. Some junk food is one thing, but that doesn't sound like what you're saying you want.3

Fitness and health are very different things. I've been very fit while unhealthy. I've been less fit when healthy. Part of it was food based.
You look very fit and are obviously not eating excessive calories.6 -
