Quickie to say gmornin ladies! On my way to work - yesterday was a very long day...my step brother is in ICU after a massive cardiac arrest event. He's at Kadlec in Richland WA for those in the PNW and familiar with SE Washington. It doesn't look good. They did an hour of CPR and got his heart regulated, CT scan shows no significant brain damage, but he's unresponsive. Doc says his heart is very tired. My step brother has suffered with diabetes and heart failure for over a decade now. He's been on the donor list for that long as well. I'd appreciate your prayers, or light a candle if you don't pray, or chant to any power greater than yourself you believe in if that's your preference. His name is Scott. Thanks ladies!
Much love and respect from Vegas,
Dorrie aka TrulyDivyn

Good morning Ladies!
Prayers said Dorrie.
One of my best friends is coming in today to stay until Monday! I got my "walk" in this morning (Walk at Home) and I'm going to go clean up and head to the grocery store. I'm making a preemptive strike to have healthy dinners for the 3 nights she is here alone. Her son will join us Sunday so we will go out to eat dinner, I'm guessing Mexican (they used to live in TX but moved to CA so they miss tex-mex). He would not appreciate my healthy meals in the least. Tonight I'm planning smoked chicken tacos, tomorrow will be seared Ahi (on the charcoal grill courtesy of the hub) with roasted sweet potatoes and asparagus and Saturday will be pork in a green chile verde sauce as long as the pepper guy is at the Farmer's market Saturday. I guess if he isn't I will go back to the store and get some poblano's, but his peppers that he roasts for us there are SOOOO much better. I have only tried to make the chili verde once so I hope it is good. The good part is, she won't care. She will eat it and help me tweak it. I think I will probably serve it over riced cauliflower.
Have a great day ladies!4 -

KJ, I don't think I ever told you how I am so very impressed by what you do for your day care children. I have never encountered an in home day care provider who does so many wonderful activities with the children. I hope these parents appreciate the thought, planning and execution that goes into these activities. I read daily about what you do and marvel. You certainly go above and beyond just day care. I want to be one of your children!

I am in complete agreement!

Hi there!
Lovely to see you Mary!
Can't see your pic Barbie, wifi really slow at the moment, plus there is a leak in the cold water supply to the ship so there is no cold water at the moment. Good job I had a swim and shower earlier!
We got back to the ship around 2pm. Had a lovely trip into Stockholm and caught the ferry across the water to the Vassa museum. The ship, as in my previous photo, (although once it would have been brightly painted) was the flagship of the King's fleet in 1641 or thereabouts. After a refit, ordered by the King, it had an extra set of cannon, an extra story, not enough ballast etc etc. The King insisted it went out on parade and it turned over and sank to the bottom. 30 men and women were killed. In 1959 they raised it from the mud. Incredible! They have the skeletons of some of the dead and they have reconstructed their faces. They are spookily real.
After that we had a sandwich lunch and coffee and came back.
I went for a swim and showered so that I look beautiful for tonight's formal. Going to wear that dress from last year.
We had the butler bring us a pot of tea and now I am writing to you.
I reckon today was a 600 calorie day and there may be more dancing tonight. Looking forward to Helsinki tomorrow lunch time. We should be sailing any minute. DH has dozed off.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx soon to be sailing through the Stockholm archipelago.6 -
My daughter emailed me this pic last night, first I said who is this. Then I realized it was me and I cried. This was taken 11 years ago. I'm happy to say I think I look about 15 years younger today, not to mention how much BETTER I feel. My oldest daughter on the left, younger on right. I had no idea I looked like this. I am so thankful I took charge or my life and made changes. I was almost too embarrassed to share this. The second picture is what I look like now. I'm in the back on the right. I used this for my profile pic.

Alison: Have a good day. :flowerforyou:

This is a big day for me. I'm planning to meet my best friend from Junior High through HS for lunch. I haven't seen her since the night after my wedding in 1970. I can't believe it has been is 47 years. I hope we find things in common and enjoy one another after all this time.

Dorrie- prayers for your brother. Hugs and more prayers for you and his family.
Heather- You will look lovely tonight, I am sure! Thanks for sharing your sights and knowledge on Stockholm and the Vassa. Enjoy your night!
Janet- inspiring and beautiful inside and out; that is what you are.
Pip- you and Kirby adorable then/adorable now!
Beth- As I told Chris, you are so kind. Even though this is not my dream job, after 23 years, I'd better be good at it or get out. I am one of those people who doesn't do anything half-a**ed. 100% or nothing.4 -
DJ: I have a really similar situation going on here. My granddaughter is living here with my husband and I. She has been for over 3 years now, since she was 14. She is now 18 and she is not going down a good path. So we have the same kind of issues here. It’s really difficult and I spend much time in a state of anxiety and worry. I wish I had the magic answer. I don’t. I am too busy trying to keep my husband and I together and keep my house out of turmoil. Just know I am sending you positive thoughts, hugs and prayers.
Mary in Minnesota: Great picture of you with the babies! So cute! Are you moving to Arizona? (Forgive me, if I’m being nosy. I’m really far behind on what’s going on with everyone!)
KJ Thanks! I have been finding things to do to make vacation fun. DH has taken me fishing a few times now and being by the water really brings me peace, so that has been really fun. Tonight, I actually got him to go to the Downtown Farmer's Market with me! I got the most beautiful HUMONGOUS bouquet of flowers for $6. It is gorgeous! When I got it home, I didn't have enough vases to put them all in so ended up putting the whole bouquet in a soup kettle!!! haha! Kind of sounds weird but it actually looks pretty darn cool.
Barbie: Thanks for the tip on the book, "Goodbye, things". I have been reading Simple Abundance book and doing a lot of research on simplifying and minimalizing. I have more stress in my life these days than is healthy, and so I am trying to find healthy approaches to dealing with it. I’ll definitely look this book up!
Rori: I was looking at your August goals and found myself wondering how you practice Reiki daily? Is this something you learned to do somewhere or do you go to someone? I’m just starting to read and learn about essential oils, Reiki, massage, and other natural holistic practices, and Reiki intrigues me. Just curious because I wouldn’t even know where to start.
Heather: Thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures with us. I’m living vicariously through you since I rarely get to leave the state of Wisconsin! Lol!
Dorrie: I’m so sorry to hear about your step-brother. I did say a prayer for him, and will keep him and your family in my thoughts. I have to say, I’m loving reading about your love story… and I also love your quote at the bottom of your posts. Your dad was very wise.
JanetrOKC: You are beautiful!
Today, it is rainy and gray, so it is the perfect day to sit and read my community threads and actually reply while sipping coffee and watching the birds at the feeder in the backyard. It’s almost noon and I have not even gotten out of my bathrobe yet! How lazy is that?! I’m thinking it is a perfect vacation day so far… I plan to putz around the house and do things I don’t normally have time to do when I’m working. DH is already retired (early due to injury) and does most of the housework, and sometimes it just gives me a sense of normalcy to do it. I’m thinking it will be a great day to clean up and organize my sewing area and perhaps even start a quilt. I’m going to cut up some fresh veggies and throw them together in a bowl with some seasonings and olive oil and try to work on eating more veggies. I really struggle getting them into my diet.
The Green Bay Packers have their first pre-season football game tonight and we live about a mile from the stadium, so it’ll be a fun night listening to the cheers and maybe even some fireworks afterward. This city pretty much revolves around the team. It’s also a huge source of income for the city.
I hope you all have a wonderful day and I’m going to try to be more of a talker on here and less of a stalker! LOL! I think I say that every month, but one of these times I’m actually going to achieve that goal!
Blessings!

Good morning y'all!
This is a picture of Dolly out on the deck listening to the birds and the wind chimes. It's a lovely morning out here in Arkansas!
I've been trying to catch up with you and it's been pretty hard.
I was getting frustrated by not losing any weight but finally I weighed in and I lost 2.6 pounds! So my total weight now is 41 pounds!
I'm really excited to break that 40 pound mark. It seem like a month went by and I just wasn't doing anything.
Have good day y'all!

Thanks Lisa, it did not occur to me "more comfortable in my own skin" but yes, I think that's it!!! Off all meds and feel so much better and have more energy. Thanks for being such a terrific friend.

Thank you Dana. I lost 125# after gastric bypass surgery. I know some people think that's the "easy" way out, but it is far from it. There are some drastic changes you have to adjust to. I lost so fast I couldn't keep up with it, struggled to adjust to "me", even what I looked like in the mirror when I saw myself. I put on a brand new expensive coat my husband had bought me and I looked like a little girl playing dress-up in her Mom's clothes. I cried so hard, my husband put his arms around me and just held me. I had no idea in my minds eye, that I looked like that. Also, its hard to explain but it was like I lost an old friend and had to get to know the new me. Losing was easy after the surgery, 4 years of maintenance has been a struggle. No amount of surgery takes away the love affair with food that goes on in your head.
Thanks again for the kind words. Sometimes I need to look at the pics just to remind myself. This one hit me like a ton of bricks.

OregonMother ... are marion berries like blackberries?
Yes, Beth. They are a domestic blackberry, engineered by Oregon State University sometime in the 1950s. We live in Marion county -- thus the name Marion berries. They are much larger than the wild blackberries we pick -- which I seem to remember calling "black caps" when I was a kid -- most of which are actually invasive, but still pretty tasty. (Well, I only pick the wild ones as I'm hiking and when I get a little peckish. )
Here's what wikipedia says:
The 'Marion' cultivar or Marion blackberry, marketed as marionberry, is a blackberry developed by the USDA ARS breeding program in cooperation with Oregon State University. It is a cross between the 'Chehalem' and 'Olallie' blackberries.
Scientific name: Rubus 'Marion'
Origin: Marion County, Oregon, 1956
Hybrid parentage: 'Chehalem' × 'Olallie'
Cultivar: 'Marion'
Higher classification: Rubus
Rank: Cultivar
And there's your horticulture lesson for the morning!

Having a rough day ladies!!! Just weeping and crying a lot! My eldest sons birthday, he's 28, and presently out to sea! Haven't seen him since last Christmas! Soon we'll get together! But missing my middle son and DIL, just left today. Then of course going thru pics to find ones of eldest son, I pass by youngest sons pics so I am missing him painfully. In a nutshell, my heart hurts!!!
Being a mom is just a lot if emotions!
Crying and typing...
