August Walking Challenge - Don't sweat it!

This is continued from previous Walking Challenges, but its nice when each month has its own thread. :laugh:
*** Anyone can join in at any time, the more the merrier, lets keep each other motivated****
Walking seems like the easiest way to start getting exercise, and even if you can't track distance (or don't want to), tracking time is good too...go for a 10 min walk after dinner, or up it to 30 minutes, you'll be amazed at the end of the month how much more exercise your getting in.
Check in everyday with how far you walked or how long, this is just to motivate us to get in at least some exercise everyday, and keep an eye on each other.
Make a ticker and keep it in your signature to remind you of your goal, and show everyone how well your doing. Go to this website.

Pick out your ticker pictures, set your miles or minutes, and your goal. Then copy all of the bbCode into your signature. It will look like this (but in your ticker...like mine) You use the url (from the bbCode) to update your ticker everyday (you can find this in your signature after you post the code there), just remember your pin.
Example of Tracking Miles - 1 mile everyday
Example of tracking Minutes - 30 min everyday
I want to try to keep this mostly to walking or walking type exercising. treadmills and ellipticals are A-OK. :laugh:

I just wanted to post these links again for the new comers Each one of these links is a mile walk. (or 12 min). With a total of 5 miles.
So if you aren't able to make it outside, (Because its summer and its :explode: HOT :explode: or don't have much time...12 minutes isn't asking a lot lol) then check them out to get in a quick walk.

Bump, so I can start August. Got a treadmill this weekend and I'm trying to use it everyday or at least every other day. Will be great with this challenge. Later,

I met my July goal of 600 minutes walked on the 24th. I know you are supposed to increase your goal to challenge yourself, but I am going to keep my goal at 600 minutes for August. The Bride and I are taking an Alaskan cruise with a trip to Denali for 12 days so I really don’t know what to expect as far as exercise opportunities. When the ship is sailing, I hope to get morning walks in about the decks, not sure what will happen ashore.0

I walk almost every day weather permitting. I use an APP on my iPhone called RunKeeper to track my time,miles and calories. You can also listen to music while you walk. There is a free and paid version if your interested. I walked 4.16 miles today in 59 minutes and burned 498 calories. Count me In ! I am also doing P90x,I am on my 4th day for that workout.0

I'd like to join you for the month of August.. since i'm planning to do mostly walking- i have a personal goal of 114 miles for august.. i know that is a lot of miles.. but .. it will keep me focused - why 114 ? personal reason0

with another boat cruise and our folding bikes.

I'm going to really challenge myself - goal of 100 miles for August - I missed 75 in June, close but not at my goal of 75 for July, so I need a bigger challenge, and I need to push myself harder to get there too!
REally looking forward to another month of tracking my miles! Keep up the great work everyone!0 -

I'm IN!! I love walking, its not only good exercise, but it gives me a little "me" time to clear my head and regain focus. Trail walking is my favorite, but its been so extremely hot lately that its hard to do ANYTHING outside.... Guess that means I'll have to get up early in the morning and do it0

Yep, count me in too. I was able to do 1200 mins of exercise mostly walking. I'm not sure what is a realisitic goal as far as miles/km for me so I'm going to try and keep a running tally and use it for next month.0

I'm in! I started walking two weeks ago but need something go keep me motivated my auguSt goal is 960 min. Going on vacation on the 6 th for a week but will make it a point to squeez in my walking0
